How great is He? How great?

When things happen not according to my way,
And it’s the consequences I have to pay,
I just feel like curling up into a ball,
Then into His arms I want to fall.

Others will see the happy side of me,
But He understands more than what the naked eye can see.
They may demand me to fully play my part,
Yet all He does is patiently wait for my heart.

What more can I ask for? What more?
When I’ve a God who fills me to the core.
How less will I receive? How less?
The answer is never! And “you’ll always get the best”.

Sometimes His presence can be so tangible,
And His voice can be so loud, its un-sangka-rable,
His arms will swoop down at the right time to save me,
To save this sinful thing, so unworthy.

It’s so natural for me to keep running away,
To avoid the challenges, and keep going astray,
Yet He uses situations to call me back
So that I won’t be lost, let alone slack.

When can I be free? When can I?
Must I wait till the day I die?
Who will protect and hold me? Who will?
When I’m climbing the steep and risky hill.

Questions will come continuously
And there may be no end for this misery.
But it’s so obvious that the answers are there,
That my awesome God is always there to care.

winter wonder

“My tummy needs sushi more than my finger needs a ring, so sushi it shall be!”
–amanda wong, my lovely cousin sis.

Hahha, just something I find very interesting…. She would spend hours in diva (a jewellery shop along rundle mall) trying to pick the right earrings and rings. Then end up deciding to have sushi instead of buying the ring. Its amazing how girls’ brain works. And by that I cant say much about it… cuz I’m not too sure how they work…

Anywayz, this entry is not about girls’ mind, buts its gonna be about my 1st experience of winter.

The bad points:
- taking the clothes out to dry and taking them back is so hard! Its so cold and the clothes never seem to dry up… cold hands on wet clothes when the wind blows… wahhh…embrrrrracing arctic feel for awhile. Here is where the dryer will be the adored machine in the household.
- Getting up in the morning… its so nice n warm under the duck-down sheets… susah lah~
- Placing my warm butt on the icy cold toilet seat is always very irritating
- I have to keep my short pants and skirts up in the unreachable part of the wardrobe, cuz its sad to look at clothes that u cant wear now…
- U know the feeling of opening the fridge and there’s a slight cold breeze that hits ur face with a soft and gentle stroke? Well… that feeling has been to put to hold for 3 months. Now my whole earth IS the fridge! My aunt keeps the fruits outside, cuz no place in the fridge and the fruits will still stay so fresh. The fridge is kinda useless for now.
- Bad winter days can be really depressing cuz of the gloomy clouds.
- It gets dark at 4 or 5-ish every evening. And its like there’s no evening anymore!

The good points:
- dun have to use air-con in the car
- dun have to eat ice cream so fast, cuz it wont melt fast unless u’re beside the heater
- this is the most remarkable and the thing that I feel that its worth living thru winter for. It’s the fantastic setting of the sun in the short evenings. Its when I can see how God can amazingly make the colours purple and orange match. Sometimes its pink and yellow with a touch of orange. Sometimes its baby blue with a burgundy line right across the never ending sky. Its like… woah!!!!

So I wanna say… I really thank God for creating seasons. Seasons are cool. Sometimes a bit too cool till its icy cold. But still it gives me a slight glimpse of how heaven can be like when I see how great His creations are down here on earth.

this reminds me of...

It’s almost impossible to be left with literally NOTHING to do. At the midst of my empty scheduled week, I managed to do so many meaningful things. Which includes cleaning the whole house, rearranging my closet, watching all DVDs available in the house, finishing one season of FRIENDS, cooking up some weird but edible delicacies, reading up about HTML, bronchitis and strokes, and the whole book of Ecclesiastes(which isn’t very long), and going for walks that were one hour long, etc.

And not forgetting adding the links that I now have on my blog site. I took a crash course of HTML stuff from lizzie, hahah, n I managed to add those links to this site, woot~

It’s cool how HTML works. Go find out urself. My point is… I was a computer illiterate but now, I know some stuff wei, dun play play…. And this reminds me of PCK’s sars rap. Go check it out. I laughed so hard when I heard him combine ‘I’m a survivor’ with ‘ice ice baby’, and ‘can’t touch this’ into one song. Thankx horny, for telling me about it.

And btw, the link to cheesecake’s poems is cool. Go check out the poems he wrote. I met this poetic feller through BRATS, and I always enjoyed his work. It’s a classic.

So ppl, just a short reminder to encourage u that u can never be TOO bored to sit there and do nothing… This reminds me of this girl who reads blogs for hours till now she almost finished all my archives… geng….

movie freak

Dusts were flying around, the humming of the vacuum cleaning drowned the dance music from the little stereo on the freezer, and I was bz sneezing behind carpets and rugs.

This is my 3rd day in the house. Other then going out for walks in the park, up to the supermarket to buy groceries, and to aunty ivy’s house for dinner, I’ve been home for three whole days and will be home for another whole day tmr. How did I survive? I don’t know, it’s just amazing.

Lately I’ve been watching movies… at random, anything goes. I watched the 1st cd of Godfather- was not bad, only found out that the young guy was al pacino towards the end of the show.

I also watched Analyse This with al pacino in it! Was so funny when they did the scene of God father in this show… duane and I were laughing so hard…

Then I watched lemeny snicket’s a series of unfortunate events (or something like that) for the 2nd time! Still as good as the 1st time watching it. But the CD was abit cacat… it was boon pin’s. though he warned us about the scratch… we were just desperate.

Next was Be Cool. For the 2nd time… haih… didn’t wanna watch that show but cuz it was already in the player… no one wanted to move, so we (Mandy, Duane and I) just wanted it anyways)

I also watched Eurotrip! Hahah, lame show but it had the touch of reality to it… and the cool thing was… marcuz also watched that show (so coincidentally) and we both had the same impression of it, hahaha, not gonna say wat.

Oh yeah I also watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; and Hero. Been watching a lot of ziyi shows ever since duane pointed out that I do resemble some of her looks. And one thing I noticed from her shows… her characters are always the same. A strong minded woman, has a deep passion for something, loyal and speaks with actions. But the bad part is… she ALWAYS does stupid stuff for guys…. WHY?! ‘bai zai nan ren shou sang’ –fails in man’s hands- Oh ya, and she’s very good in dying also. Very good…

And not forgetting the lame-to-de-extreme Austin Powers! I can’t remember which one was it, but it was the one Dr Evil stole his mojo. Watched it with duane just to kill time.

I also watched Pride and Prejudice. I loooooove these kind of movies where they dress like that and have such visible cleavages. And the spoken English was marvellous, simply arrogant in its own humble way. We all melted when mr. Darcy expressed his love for Elizabeth.

Mr. Darcy: You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.

To match with that, I watched Amadeus. The life story of Mozart. Huwah! Chun man… ppl can actually be so crazy after music! Which reminds me of my cousin Joshua. He mite be coming over to aus to study music and forget about SPM!!! I really hope that plan works out for him.

Actually I did watch plenty of other shows but I cant really remember which ones… just to name a few: The Nugget (Australian film, hv to watch a trillion times for my assignment) , 40 days n 40 nights, house of the flying daggers, shrek 2(again), Rabbit proof fence, the gay Brokeback Mountain, the march of the penguins, all that jazz, V for vendetta, take the lead, wild wild west, the castle, looking for alibrandi, Gallipoli, muriel’s wedding, cracker jack, Pocahontas(again), my fair lady (*2 thumbs up*)… and more.. cant think anymore now…

Well, these are the days where u’d be counting down the hours for weekend to come. I’m not complaining, and never will want to. I just hope I can just do something more exciting than cleaning the house and cooking (well, at least I’m trying…)

Out of my comfort zone and into the frying pan

Today, I discovered something new about myself. I discovered that I will not be a good house wife.

-_-“ R u laughing? Eh dun la… I’m serious here…

The alarm clock went off at 9am. My eyes were closed tight but my mind was wildly thinking about the cool dream I had. Soon after the post-dream syndrome, I starred at the ceiling (which was not very far from me cuz I’m sleeping on the top bunk of the bed) and asked myself: which paragraph do I have to write today? How many more words to reach 2500? Which aspect do I have to expand on? …. Hey wait a sec. I dun have any other assignments to do anymore!!! Woohooo! LIBERTY! Uh huh ~ uh huh~ one two one two~ put chur hand in de air, laik u just don cair~ just loose it, ah ah ah ah ah !

After all that self-party, I went out to the pantry n found no breakfast to feed this hungry and crazy lady. So I put on a jacket, took my wallet n slipped in my running shoes n walked all the way out to the supermarket. No idea how far it is but yeap, I walked out into the street on a fine winter Saturday morning with my faithful mp3 baby.

I bought food and breakfast supply for the week under a super low budget. For those of u who still do not know… my aunt n uncle left Mandy and I here in Adelaide for 3 weeks, to survive this thing called independence. And Mandy is gonna sit for her exams next week, and I’m already free from assignments as expressed earlier on. So I gotta cook n do most of the things so that Mandy can focus on her studies. I’m not complaining cuz she has been cooking n for the past 2 weeks an all I did was eat up wat she cooked, heehee, n I’m super grateful for that =p hence now… its time to repay her by doing what I possibly can around the house. She even made brownies ydy while I was out! Yum~ thank God for Mandy’s itchy hands…

So today, I did the grocery, I cooked lunch, took the clothes out, cleaned the toilet and bathroom, cleaned the kitchen and I mite as well clean up the bedroom after this. Sounds like a house wife’s day rite? If I had to add in stuff like fetch the kids to and from skool, watch oprah winfrey after the afternoon news n tuck the kids into bed at nite. Well… to my future husband (whoever u r) I don’t like this house keeping thing, so let me go to work n get the cleaner lady to clean up the mess. This ain’t my cup of tea. However… I must admit, that cleaning n scrubbing really was a good work out. Hahah… I’m glad I get to achieve these tasks today.

While cleaning the toilet tiles, it reminded me of the story of Mary and Martha. Jesus visited the house of Mary and Martha one day, n one was so caught up with her work n she complained that her sis was not helping. Here’s the story [Luke 10:38-42]:

38. Now it came to pass, as they went, that he (Jesus) entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Sometimes we gotta know which is more important and be wise in our priorities. I’m not saying that I’m very wise, but I think what Jesus replied Martha was very chun. We may be so worried and get carried away with what we think is our main duty/ chore, and we may even think that accomplishing those duties will please God or please others around us. But we do not realized that Jesus wants us to choose “that good part, which shall not be taken away…”. Mary knew that the chances of Jesus going to her house was very slim, so she chose to sit at his feet when he came to visit, n not be doing the things she can do any other time. But Martha didn’t do that n wanted to show good hospitality to the honoured visitor. I’m sure Martha’s intention was good but she jz missed the point n went too far.

So I guess out of all the busy times we have, exams, assignments, serving in church, house chores, work etc., we gotta look beyond those n choose what’s good. Not to say drop all those work n do ntg but sit. But to just seek God at the midst of ur busy day and listen to wat He has to say. Just like Mandy, she’s a living testimony to this and I look up to her for that. Even though she has soooo much to study, I can see that she never skips her quiet-time every morning. She’ll get up so early and read the bible while I’m still in dreamland. I wish I cud hv such discipline to just sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to his word.

Barney and the Shmoo

We learn new things every single day, and here’s what I found out when doing my 2000word essay about rhetoric.

U remember our good friend, Barney? The purple dinosaur who hypnotized kids into singing that song of friendship.

Yeap, that dude…

Ok, now I found out that the meaning for the word ‘barney’ means noisy quarrel.
So that explains all the diverted versions of that friendship song…

Another thing I found out today… I told Mandy about the fallacy of Barney, n she told me she also just knew about another cartoon character that has a weird motive of living. The SHMOO!

read all about it, and find out more in wikipedia.

The Shmoo first appeared in the strip in August 1948. According to Shmoo legend, the lovable creature laid eggs, gave milk and died of sheer esctasy when looked at with hunger. The Shmoo loved to be eaten and tasted like any food desired. Anything that delighted people delighted a Shmoo. Fry a Shmoo and it came out chicken. Broil it and it came out steak. Shmoo eyes made terrific suspender buttons. The hide of the Shmoo if cut thin made fine leather and if cut thick made the best lumber. Shmoo whiskers made splendid toothpicks. The Shmoo satisfied all the world's wants. You could never run out of Shmoon (plural of Shmoo) because they multiplied at such an incredible rate. The Shmoo believed that the only way to happiness was to bring happiness to others. Li'l Abner discovered Shmoos when he ventured into the forbidden Valley of the Shmoon, against the frantic protestations of Ol' Man Mose. "Shmoos," he warned, "is the greatest menace to hoomanity th' world has evah known." "Thass becuz they is so bad, huh?" asked Li'l Abner. "No, stupid," answered Mose, hurling one of life's profoundest paradoxes at Li'l Abner. "It's because they're so good!"Ironically, the lovable and selfless Shmoos ultimately brought misery to humankind because people with a limitless supply of self-sacrificing Shmoos stopped working and society broke down. Seen at first as a boon to humankind, they were ultimately hunted down and exterminated to preserve the status quo. (Thought extinct after the 1948 adventure, one Shmoo always seemed to escape to Dogpatch's Valley of the Shmoon to form a new colony and a later plot revival by Capp). Licensed Shmoo merchandise became a huge phenomenon in the late '40s and early '50s, spawning a wide variety of dolls, toys, glasses, wallpaper, belts, books, jewelry, balloons, clocks, ashtrays, cannisters, salt & pepper shakers, dairy products, banks, belts and ear muffs. There was even an official Shmoo fishing lure! These are all highly collectible items today. <http://www.lil-abner.com/shmoo.html>

sorry i cant get the pic of shmoo into this post... blogger is being choosy these days... go to the site n see if u wanna eat that creature or not.

zhar dou

I know I should be doing my assignment and not blogging (like everyone else) but then I need a break after one whole day of sitting down in front of my laptop with the heater blowing directly at me and my supply of chocolates nicely sitting behind my laptop screen. (and yes it is still like this now, but the difference is that I’m TAKING A BREAK)

I was going thru lyrics of fall out boys (one of shua’s entry said it’s a nice song so I went n download) and yeap, it’s a classic. Nice but no idea what its talking about. And and… shua, this is the chorus lyrics to it:

We're going down, down in an earlier round
And Sugar, we're going down swinging
I'll be your number one with a bullet
A loaded gun complex, cock it and pull it

And also, I saw some very bizarre song titles by the fall out boys. Even the name of the group also like… “huh!?”. The other songs from the album “From Under The Cork Tree” are such as ‘Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued’ and ‘I've Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song)’ and ‘Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends’ and ‘I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me’ and ‘Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part To Save The Scene And Stop Going To Shows)’.

No kidding, those were the TITLES of the songs… very zhar dou….

Oh ya, another zhar dou thing I heard ydy. Was going home from OCF in Ming’s car. Went to McD’s drive thru for nuggets for Ruby, and Sam treated us with more nuggets. So when waiting for our turn, we had this weird conversation in the car.

Jez: eh, ydy mandy and I made our own pasta sauce. With no recipe ntg, we jz created one ourselves.

Mandy: yeah, we named it ala mandy~

huey chi: so if u cook up the cat, make it into stew, then we can call it ala cat (sounds like a la carte) [she was scratched by a fat cat in samuel’s hse b4]

Everyone: *laugh*

Samuel: well, I know how to make a special meal called ‘ala ding’

Everyone: *silence*

Jez: whats ala ding?

Samuel: heheh… neh, whatever u put in microwave is ala ding.

Ming: *sweat*

Everyone: *eats nuggets with bbq sause in silence*

If u don’t get the ala ding, go to the nearest microwave, put something in it, start it and wait for the sound. It should be a universal sound made my microwaves all around the world. Some may sound techy, but the classic ones are all the same.

Ok, I gotta get out of this room before I start counting the 5cent coins I’ve collected.

] Mozzie Magnet [

I think if u know me well enuf, u shud know that I’m pretty much of a mozzie magnet. Mozzie magnet meaning an attraction for the all time famous pest—mosquito!

I found out that new ‘mozzie magnet’ term ydy while watching a show called “what’s good for u” (I like the intro song where they go ‘did ur mama tell u wats good for u~’). Aussies call mozzies ‘mozzies’ cuz they practically add ‘ies’ behind most things… like… Woolworth > woollies; ugh boots > uggies; umbrella> brellie; Australia> aussie: jezamine > jezzie; etc.

Now the amazing fact about mozzie magnets is not cuz the blood is sweeter or that person did not bathe for a long time. But its cuz of a certain chemical that is released from the skin and also the reaction towards the mozzie bites.

I didn’t quite pay attention to the whole thing, but I know that some ppl produce a type of chemical which mozzies like, so they are more attracted to them. And also, some ppl are a little allergic to the saliva of the mozzie, so after the bite, there will be a red bulging patch on the skin. I used to spot the hidden mickey whenever I get SOME mozzie bites. So not every one will have little hernias on the surface of the skin every time a mozzie bites… only some ppl will have it so those who react that way will think that they hv been bitten more than the others but in actual fact its cuz they can visibly count the bites, and the other didn’t even know they’ve been bitten cuz tak ada reaction.

I remember the times when horny and I always study downstairs at block E. that’s like the mosquito haven man! Ppl study sitting down mah, rite? So the smart mozzies go have their feast while students try to rush for their last minute revision. I remember horny used to sit there to let the mozzie bite him so that they won’t come to me, hahaha, but didn’t work… all kena as many bites. Mosquito repellents were of good use, but they stink…

After staying in OZ for a few months now, I’ve only been bitten by mozzies once… I think its cuz mozzie breed faster in tropical countries and OZ is too dry for them blood suckers. Or maybe it’s because I don’t produce that sort of chemical anymore… or I’m not allergic to da saliva… dunno… I’m jz glad I’m not a mozzie magnet anymore!
