| New semester just started. Back to the routined lifestyle and living with the absence of being bored. What I did during my holidays are now blissful events, and what I’m gonna do this semester is what matters. 4 subjects: Media Literacy- study about the media and how communication is done thru the media. Mostly I’ll be studying about television and the essence of what the tv imparts and convey to the mass viewers. I got my previous PR and ICCS tutor last semester for this subject (sulay), the Jamaican dude from Sierra Leone. My friends said this subject is fairly easy, hehe, so its not too bad. Document Design and Publications- learn about theoretical issues on publishing either print or online documents. Like readers read from top left to bottom right… color, space, weight balance…. Kinda interesting. My 1st assignment is to make a weblog! Haha, I feel a little vulnerable cuz its like asking us to do a serious work in a non-serious way… dunno how to present this… but I’m having fun! Hehe Media and Screen Cultures- study those technical stuff that makes the film interesting by looking at how the plot is set up to make the viewers stay for the whole show, which angle signifies what, the color, anti-clichéd schemes… I love this subject. Its like looking at movies and tv series from a director’s chair. We get to analyse different movies each week. Last week was on American Beauty and this week is North by Northwest.we even get to study tv series like Buffy and Veronica Mars. Its just that the assignments are a little freaky… but I’m ready to take up this challenge! State, Power and Society- the title says it all. Study about state, power and society. Sounds boring rite? Well, that’s because IT IS boring. It’s like we learn about the significants of borders, citizenship, human rite and more politics… and I got a boring tutor for this. Boring teacher + boring subject = boring teaject or boring subcher. The word boring still stays. Anyhoot, 3 good ones against one bad one… I’m being optimistic about this sem. I just want it to pass faster so I can go back to do all the things I got in the list! |

dream catcher
| Dreams… Can be good, can be bad at times… but overall, I think its really energy consuming…but fun in a way~ If u know me well, I can dream about things beyond my wildest imagination. Well, I’m not sure how high ur imagination level is, but for me… I think my dreams outwit my creativity. It can be the simplest things like walking along a boring lane, to fighting a 4 headed lama with a red leather jacket and skating shoes to cross the purple river cuz this side is filled with locusts and ants. Sometimes I remember my dreams, and sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I can control it and sometimes it’s too real that I don’t even realize I’m in a dream. But as for this morning, I dreamt that I was late and dai yee was rushing me. That moment I knew that I was dreaming, and I didn’t like being late so I woke myself up so that I wont be late (but in reality I really overslept for half an hour). Cool huh? Sometimes the dreams can be so real, I have a tendency to think I did that thing, but in reality I didn’t but I thought I did it. Its like… in my dreams I switched off my room light, but in reality I didn’t, and I thought I did so my room light will be left on. How dangerous is that?! Imagine if I forgot to tun of the gas from the stove, but in my dream I did… ho ho ho… And also, when I fall sick, I always have this same set of dreams that come to me. When I get the temperatures, I always dream of trees falling on me. One after another. Rows and rows of trees just keep coming down on me. If its not trees, then its mattresses. They roll me up till I cant breathe. They keep rolling till I wake up. These are the few set of dreams I get when I’m really sick. A few nights ago, I dreamt that I was back in Malaysia. I drove a manual car so smoothly and I had lunch in a Chinese coffee shop near my house and it was really hot. So hot that I was sweating. (But the food was great) then dunno how, I woke up, in Australia, on my bed, sweating… Other than dreaming them, sometimes I verbally express stuff when I’m physically asleep. That happens to me once in awhile. When I was very much younger, still sleeping with my parents in their room, I used to talk in my sleep, n my dad will tell me the next day. He usually can’t tell wat I said cuz I used to sleep talk in mandarin n he doesn’t really understand… once he told me I said “zou kai! Bu yau da wo!” [go away! Don’t hit me!] and no, I not a child abuse victim….dun ask me y I said that… Oh ya, the amazing thing is… I sleep walk too! But not anymore… just too bad… but I can remember when I was about 8 or 9 years old, I stay over at my cousin (Theresa)’s house quite often and she has a double decker bed. I’d sleep on the top deck with her stuffed toys. One nite, I sleep-walked down from the top bunk, walked out to the dining hall. Her mom / my aunt so coincidentally wanted to get a cup of water n she saw me there. She spoke to me but my answers were kinda out of track… so she led me back to the decker and I walked up n slept. The next day she asked me wat I was doing then n I had no idea wat she was talking about. Hahah, this is the best sleep walking experience I had…. Double decker bed man! Lately, mandy told me I talk in my sleep but most of the time I just mumble… however! She managed to catch wat I said on Tuesday nite. “Seth! Ready? One… two… ddssshhhh!” When she told me about that, my jaw dropped. Then my aunt said she also heard me say that…. N she was sleeping in the room next to mine! It can’t be rite? So loud meh???!? Y seth? I also dunno y… I blame pei yi. Hahah! Cuz we were chatting on msn about Seth Cohen from the OC. Hahha…. Oh man… can’t believe I can do that…. Even the person in the next room also can hear… that’s pretty creepy eh? Well, I’m not complaining that I have dreams… it’s better than not having dreams at all. Just like my friend, Teck chun. Its amazing how he does not have dreams… there’s no fun in sleeping if I can’t dream. |

road trip
http://littlejez.multiply.com/photos/album/10
“what will we be doing in victor habour?” I asked everyone in the car (ming, tan, mandy, and myself)
“I dunno...” answered ming.
*awkward silence*
“woohooo!!! VH road trip! Here I come!!!” I thought to myself.
7 of us, 6 days before the new sem starts, 5 healthy ppl (ming and tan were alittle sick), 3 sleeping bags, took off in 2 cars, in less than 1 hundred AD as our budget (each), with 0 plans.
Ruby drove ming’s car with sam and huey chi in it, and ming drove duane’s car with tan, mandy and me in it. We left east side at about 11am, 18th July for about an hours drive to VH. The road to this place was really straight… straight and boring. We passed a lot of farms, saw cows and some mutated looking sheep… the Switchfoot cd was played all the way there and all the way back… took me awhile to get the songs off my head. There were red and black stick erected along the high way. Ming said it was to remember the places where there were accidents before. Red is for the places where ppl were injured, and black were to signify the places where death accidents occurred.
We reached our accommodation – Smugglers Inn, around noon time n we were all craving for something greasy. So KFC it is! It was like a few mins walk away from our room, so walked there after settling down in the cosy unit that’ll be trashed for the next 3 days. Mandy and I took the sofa bed, the 2 sick guys took one room, the 2 girls took the other and sam slept on the floor in the lounge which was also the dining room cum kitchen cum bedroom… there was only one toilet btw…
KFC was ok… my 1st time in KFC in Australia. It’s not as good as the ones in msia… but still, its Kentucky Fat Chicken…
Then we walked over to the info centre to find out about the stuff we can do here. Bought tix to watch penguins later in the evening. Then we walked to Granite Island using the long bridge. They had horses to pull carriages to get there but its 10bux per head and its super slow… so we walked against the strong wind on metal bars built for the carriages.
The island is actually very small…reminds me of the size of sipadan… actually I think sipadan is smaller… there are nice trails to walk on around the island, but ming and I picked the road less travelled. We climbed uphill and down hill to meet with the others at the other side of the island. Was really interesting… hahah, for awhile I tot there’s no end to that climb, yet the view was magnificent!… at the other end, all of us climbed huge boulders and took pix. Well, I’m a little acrophobic… [that’s y God made me so short] so the climb was pretty scary… but I managed to get to the highest point and stand tall!!! The view was breathtaking!!! Seriously! The clear blue sky with the calm turquoise ocean… it’s like I have everything I have in the world! Except for one thing… *fill in the blanks*
We climbed ON rocks, UNDER rocks, OVER rocks, IN BETWEEN rocks, even went INSIDE some rocks…and the smart KFC guy, Tan, wore slippers for this hike. I guess it makes the hike more thrilling for him…
After the super exciting ramble, we went for some donuts (wah, the cinnamon ones were fabbiiiuuuullloussss!) and pancakes. Then I went with Sam and mandy to Woolworths to get our meal supplies… Then went back to the unit where the rest of them were there to get Tan’s shoes and we went back into granite island to catch the penguin-seeing-tour. It was so cold… and it was dark already by 5 plus in the evening.
We went on the tour around the northern coastal areas of the island with the tour guide who had the red torch light. The light from the torch had to b red cuz the penguins have sensitive eyes. Their eyesight is 8 times more sensitive than human beings’. They are fairy penguins, the smallest species among the penguin kingdom. They hv sharp things in their throat cuz they swallow fish as a whole and hv no teeth. They live to about 10 years old but some found some penguins that r 20 years plus! They live in burrows, one family one burrow. They have their own distinctive voice and their partners can tell where their other half is, n where their kids are calling from.
Wow… looks like the 10bux is not wasted… I managed to learn so much… well, I paid for, y shouldn’t I? I even saw them mate! Hohoho, so interesting! They shat (passed tense for shit) b4 they did it. N it was a turbo fast one…. Maybe they were jz shy la, so many ppl looking…Other than penguins, we saw possums too! Apparently there’s this rodent creature with webbed feet around, but we didn’t catch that… forgot the name for it also...
After that knowledge-full tour, we went back and had pizza for dinner. And we brought heaps of DVDs. The unit has a DVD player, so we watched City Hunter (the super old show by jacky chan….super low-b man…)
Then we played a few rounds of poker, and I learnt how to play Bridge! Eh, its heaps fun! Very challenging and entertaining at the same time! Bridge is good… very good…
Soon, everyone was totally knocked out by the day’s activities so they all went to bed. Except for me… I was wide awake, so I watched an episode of Grey’s anatomy before collapsing on the sofa bed.
Next day, we had bacon, hash brown and eggs for breakfast! Yummm~ oh, we had nutella and bread too! Watched Serenity while gobbling down those babi slices…
As ming wasn’t quite well that day, we left him in the room n we all went to The Bluff. It’s just a tiny mountain and that’s it… but the hike up was fun. Hehe… oh ya, and we saw whales when we reached the peak! Was awesome! They shot water up and we saw their tails.. coolness…
Then we went down to the beach just for fun. Haha, tan and ruby took off their shoes and went to ‘play’ in the water. The rest of us were jz taking pix of the waves. I went to wash my hands at a small pool of water behind some rocks, and I didn’t see that wave coming n I was soaked knee high… the water was so cold it actually hurts! It was fun though…
We then got bored and decided to make a human pyramid on the sand. Wasn’t easy… I had to step on Tan rear to climb to the top! Hahaha, but we did it!!!
We went to woollies again after that to buy dinner. Tan went in barefooted and good thing I had slippers in the car, heehee…
Went back to the room after that and had seafood salad for dinner. Another huge Yummmmm~ later that night we played more poker, chor dai dee and Bridge, then we watched Superman! The old version. The one with Christopher Reeve. Wah liou, the ending was super! …super LAME!!! And the start was really corny also… haih… thank God for improvement in the entertainment world!
The last day came. We all lazed around and had coco-pops and sausages for breakfast. We were REALLY lazing around.. half way watching a show called Alfie…till about 10-ish, someone came knocking at our door n said we had to leave cuz check out time was 10! And we were like… ooooo crap. So we packed up at lightning speed, woke ming up, and tried to stuff the leftover food the best way we can in containers so it’ll still b edible… after about 20 mins… we all stood outside our unit… starring at each other…
“Where should we go now?”
“I dunno…”
“woohooo! We got kicked out!”
So we ended up in the park near that place, n continued our breakfast on those park tables and benches while feeding the birds with the leftover bread. Ming put up a pretty good circus show then, hehe…
We left victor habour around noon and stopped by at marion (the biggest shopping centre in south Australia konon…but no where close when compared to mid valley). Walked around and I bought a pair of shoes. (am not feeling guilty cuz that’ll be my only pair of girlie shoes, other than heels… my other shoes are sport shoes =p)
So last stop was samuel’s house… finished up our apple juices and distributed the left-overs.
That’s the end of my VH road trip with friends. If u hv read everything I wrote… *clap clap* …most prob u wouldn’t hv, but I jz wanted to write it down for my own remembrance and maybe 50 years down the road I can still read wat I did during my 1st year winter break in Australia.

pix update
I’m back! With more pix and more updates!
I recently got my hands on some old pix so I’ll jz post it up now.
I’ll be blogging bout my trip to victor harbour, but I’ll do this pic frenzy 1st. btw, I’ve posted some pix taken during the trip in my multiply so jz click on the link on the link -->

Here’s a pic of me and yuk pui. She came over to visit her bro a few weeks ago. Was so glad I got to meet up with someone from taman desa… made me feel home sick again.
And here are some pix taken during the East Side Cell dinner
at Sam’s house. We had Japanese food and a German apple pie. i allocated the sushis in place. cool huh? my work of art!!! (i accidentally dropped one sushi into the pot of miso soup and i didnt tell anyone.... till they saw a little piece of floating avocado.. and some rice at the bottom... they began to be a little suspicious)
Ming made green tea icecream… (he bought the packet one, and followed instructions : pour ¾ cups of milk. And he thought he had to pour 3 or 4 cups…. Good thing he was stopped in time)
Then we played an interesting story telling game while drinking up the miso soup.
When the others left… the 7 of us played with the cam and jz did lame stuff on the couch.

after awhile, we got bored...
so we did this
just because we had almost the same jackets (of course, ming's is polo, mine is my bday gift from aunty ivy)

i'm not drunk
How u doin’~? (with eye brow twitched to one side)
I’m doing ok. I woke up this morning, and decided not to be bored anymore. That’s cuz Jezamine Chan is not a boring person, hence she shall not be bored no matter what! So I wrote down things to do rite after I was all motivated and fired up when I saw the sun shine sneak in thru the thick curtains that drew a fine line on the plain white sliding wardrobe door in front of me. I quickly grabbed the notebook and pen that I put on my bedside (its more like, the side part of my bed), it’s for emergency uses…. Like… if I wake up after a super cool dream and I need to write it down… or like when I’m praying and God reminds me of something I need to do, then I can quickly jot it down before I ‘descend’ from my hide out =)
So… today, I was not bored. I had a fixed goal, I had THINGS TO DO!
I did all the usual…. refolded all my clothes again. Watched FRIENDS. Swept floor. Basically did all the boring stuff. BUT! I didn’t complain or even breathe the B word… (until now).
And I’m proud of it. (I can’t believe I’m saying this)
Anywayz, yesterday, I baked sponge cake. Yay! But no, that’s not wat u’re thinking bout….I didn’t bake a sponge cake. I baked the already baked sponge cake… jz to see wat happens to it. I cut the spongy thing into finger size, placed it on a piece of tracing paper on a baking tray, popped it in the heated oven and waited for the results.
It came out rather good. It was like… biscuits! Like… finger sized biscuits! Ahhaha… I shud do this more often. Pop things in the oven and see how it turns out. Wat shud I put in next? Hmmmm…. Maybe I shud dip the left over ‘yong tau foo’ in melted butter, then roll it over some flour then place it in the oven… cool… hey, cooking IS fun! no,this is not cooking. its baking... in that case, i prefer baking to cooking....Haha. speaking of which, lizzie, do not try this at home…u must invite me over if u wanna try such new things, got it? and good luck with cooking for urself!
Woah… ok, I jz starred at the cursor till it disappeared! Hahah… okok, I better type something…. Erm… oh! My aunt taught me how to make tiramisu. I wanted to learn how to make that cuz someone likes it, hehe… so I requested for that to b taught to me. Turns out that its really easy… itz jz that the ingredients r a little hard to get in msia. Anyhoot, the ones we made were not bad (I cant say anything cuz I’ve not tasted the best tiramisu…yet). And I think I jz ate too much at one go… I’m a little… whooozy~ must be too much coffee liquor…
I better hit [publish post] b4 I type anything dumb…
Have a great day people! Mwah!

Why the head butt?
I missed the match for WC’s finals… very disappointed bout that.
It got worse when I found that it was so gan jeong, and filled with juicy happenings and nice penalties.
Anyhow, for those who were unlucky like me and missed the match, here’s a little something u shud know: during the extra time of that tie game, France’s Midfielder, Zinadine Zidane head butted Italy’s defender, Marco Materazzi. Well, it wasn’t a head butt, more like a chest butt.

I was jz disappointed I missed that part, and this 2 guy friends of mine, gave me a whole new insight to that violent and foolish act of mr. Zee.
Joshua Hum revealed that it was cuz zidane wanted to do something really urgent… he needed to answer nature’s call, to sit on his (public) throne, aka to pang sai. So he was in a desperate situation. The closest player was Materazzi. He thinks. Can’t think. So … wham! And , yes!!!! Red card! And hello~ toilet….
Today, Cheese Cake told me a different story regarding the head butt issue. Apparently… Materazzi (uncertain if it was intentionally or unintentionally) pinched Zidane’s nipples when having contact with him on the field. So Zidane got angry, and *dish*! But y wud he pinch his nipples? Maybe it was cuz Zidane called him ‘mother razzi’ and that Italian player thought he was cursing his mom. So, *pinch* and thus began the chain reaction…..
Woah… u feel the heat? U feel the controversy going on in that jam packed stadium and on the live international telecast of this major major event, that happens only once in 4 years, which of all times I had to be sick and miss the final match?!!!!! Gik sei ngo ah…..

juxtapose the extremes
I’ma gonna staya ata homa todaya! Woohooo!!!
Blasting Jamie Cullum songs from my laptop, with my half eaten char xiu bau next to it, in my PJs with messy hair, and painting my nails (plus toe nails) aint something i’d dream of doing. (btw, if u were attentive enuf… u cant ‘blast’ Jamie Cullum songs… it just wont work)
I’m not enjoying my time now maybe cuz I’ve been up and about ydy and the day b4 ydy. Juxtapose two extreme experiences… I see a seriously visible difference. Its like u’re trying to explain how a crooked stick looks like. But find it hard to. So u go get a straight stick n place it beside the crooked one. No further explanations needed.
Lizzie arrived Adelaide and so I’ve been taking her parents and her to places of interest around Adelaide... even to places I’ve not been b4! Will blog about that when I’ve got the pix we took. For now I jz wanna post something up cuz I’ma terlalu bosan and I need to wait for my nail polish to dry b4 I start the cleaning house frenzy again.
Jane will b coming over tonite, she’ll be learning how to cook from my aunt, so yay! I get to learn too! My aunt said she has to pass down her cooking knowledge to us, cuz she said she dun hv to cook no more when in heaven. But the thing is… I dun like to cook. I jz like to eat!
Anyhoota, meesa thinks meesa shud start doing something b4 meesa starts complaining.
Adios~

J.chan's anatomy
Things I found out today:
I’m a right hander, and I tried brushing my teeth with my left hand, and its soooo hard. Go try it, seriously, I didn’t know how retarded my left hand can be… well, not fully, but mostly. Also try dialling the house phone with left hand.
Ok, make it simple. Try switching the channels with ur left thumb. Not as fast as ur right eh? (that is, if u’re right handed)
Or maybe its jz me…
I watched “I not stupid too(2)” today and I cried like a baby. Usually I jz tear a little if the show that I’m watching is sad and all that. But this time, it’s as if it opened the flood gates of my crying self, and I jz sat there crying in front of the TV as if no one was watching. Well, memang there wasn’t anyone watching, thank goodness. But I just didn’t know that I can cry that badly over a show.
Maybe it was cuz of the reality of it, and the closeness of home that I felt thru the show. The hardships of kids under parents’ pressures.
The language they used and the kiasu culture.
I was also emotional when I watched “I not stupid”, but dunno y this time I blubbered like a small kid. And I did laugh so hard at a few scenes also… heheh… was really funny… the dad ordered ‘lame’ chop for dinner, to impress his teenage kid that he’s into the new ‘cool’ language.
And also, I downloaded msn live today. pretty cool functions they have. And I also got a little addicted to the graffiti game in yahoo… all thanks to tim =p its like I found an online picto charade game which I played in kate’s place with the girls from church till 3am on a Monday morning.
I watched Grey’s Anatomy today. Then I had this weird yet truthful conversation with mandy. She said Grey’s Anatomy is not as realistic as House. It’s like talking about their lives as doctors and not about the sickness. I agreed. Well, maybe it was jz the theme of today’s episode, but it’s rather true. It’s more like comparing Alley McBeal with The Practice in the court settings. I think that’s a nice comparison mark. Other than that, I also watched OC for once. I never had a chance to fully finish just one whole episode… yeah… sad case. Oh ya, and I watched Lost. True enuf… I got lost with it too. Mandy is all hyped up to watch 24. and I really wanna watch Prison Break. Well, all these are way much better than Big Brother (a lousy show copied by aus from USA, and now there’s a sex scandal going on in the house). The show was that bad, till the Australian president, Mr. Johnny, said it was a stupid show and channel 10 shud really take it down. I think its all part of the media/entertainment world. Put some good looking ppl in a house, rock up some juicy tittle-tattle, and there u go, a daily show for commoners who can bear the lameness.
Anywayz, I’m starting to enjoy my holidays. Lizzie is finally here in Adelaide! I’ll be bringing her and her family around tmr. Horny is happy till he can explode any moment. Mandy is having photography lessons for her elective course (how cool is that?!). my uncle is studying. I think he’s doing his phd or something… my aunt promised to teach me how to make tiramisu one day. And as for me, I’m finishing the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, starting to attend paradise church (neh… the one with guy Sebastian) and sleeping with my darling lately. And I enjoy it =)
btw, my darling = my ftec laptop.
