attack of THE BIRD

It was a fine and sunny afternoon, and I was walking back home from the bus stop, singing my song, and thinking of what to do when I get home.

I had to cross this road and this boy was on the other side of the road. So as I was crossing, this boy suddenly dashed in front of me, to get to the lane I was walking on. I was like… what the..?

So, anyways, I continued humming my song once I successfully crossed the road. I continued walking when ALL OF A SUDDEN!!!

THIS SMALL BLACK OBJECT WAS COMING TOWARDS ME IN HIGH SPEED (at eye level). (notice the capital letters… it means I’m actually screaming if I were telling u this, in person).

It was a little black bird with a stroke of white feathers under its wings. I had no idea why it was flying so low, and why it was flying towards a moving human being. Just before that creature could hit me on my face, I managed to duck down to let it fly just inches away from my head. (it reminded me of my Frisbee experience in Inti when I almost got killed by a flying plate in the dark, but thanks to my not-too-slow reactions, I’m still alive and typing this out)

My heart began to beat a few thousand times faster than the usual, and I began to walk faster, forgetting about the song. “so this was why the boy dash in front of me… he was the bird’s (unsuccessful) victim…”

I turned back to check if I’m clear from 2nd strike or not. And I saw this same bird perched on a fence, killing me with its violent stare. My pace tried to race up with my heartbeat.

The image of that flash is still so vivid in my mind right now. Ok, I’ll draw it out…
The stare was as sharp as its beak, which was pointed right at me. The aerodynamic shape of that bird made that image look like a round ball with a shiny point in the middle and two black dots above that shiny point.

AND THEN THAT THING STARTED TO CHARGE DIRECTLY AT ME AGAIN!!!!

The 1st thing that was in my mind: “did I leave any leftovers from my sandwich that I had for lunch in my hair or something?!?!?”

I plunged again to avoid the mad thing and did not dare look back at the charging bird. I walked quickly back home, traumatised by this attack.

I’m really freaked out right now… why do aussie birds do dumb things like attack humans, or fly low so that they get hit by busses?!?! Mandy said she was attacked by birds TWICE when she was doing her delivery job. But the birds that attacked her were magpies… apparently they do attack humans during spring/summer, don’t know the reason. But for my case… it wasn’t a magpie… it was a smaller bird… Could be a magpie-wannabe…

Anyways, so far I’ve not heard of any news about civilians dying after attacked by a bird. But I’ve seen shows that the birds attack ppl… its called:

subway rap

Yoyo, cum’on rap w’me

*disk screech*

A few months ago I felt broke,
So I flipped the papers for a look.
Got to an interview where they asked if I can cook,
I said ‘I dunno what do with a fish after it detaches from the hook’.

Surprisingly I got the job,
No more time to be a blob.
I had to serve, bake, clean and chop,
Schedules filled up to the top.

So I worked hard at Subway©,
Till this very day.
But I just thought “hey…
Working here is pretty gay” [translation: tough job]

I had to go to work in the cold morning with a jacket,
But it’s so hot there my contact lens melts in my eye socket,
Even my muesli bar dissolves in its packet.
And I pray each day that I will make it.

I had to memorize what’s in a melt, fillet, and club,
I need to soak my feet in a hot tub,
Sometimes they need a little rub.
That’s the consequence of working at the way of the sub.

*music fades*

Giving up on what I’ve been trying so hard to achieve – easy.

Submitting to my pride and the fact that I can’t achieve it on my own—difficult.

Surrendering what I want to achieve to the One who is larger than life—relief.

Suddenly it just came to me that if I don’t start on my assignments by now, I’d be a dead bacon by the end of November. So I gotta start on them now.
Its time to surrender! And let Him take charge

All the best to those who hv exams to sit for or assignments to slave away for!

I’ll be back after I fight this battle. astalavista baybeh~

Supercalifrajalisticexpialidocious

Today….

I glued my fingers together…. Unintentionally of course…
Darn super glue… a blessing and a curse in the world of wonderful inventions

Today…

I played with a kid named Xenetia. Cute little girl. Brunei-ian mom and aussie dad. Had a fat little 7-month-old brother, Zackeriah(dunno how to spell).

I asked her how old she was and she put up 4 fingers and said “two minutes!”
Hahaha, her mom laughed so hard.

After awhile I asked her again, “how old r u, Xenetia?”
And she held up her orange-juice stained hands with her thumb folded in and 4 fingers up: “too old!”
or maybe she meant “two [years] old” (silent ‘years’)
her mom couldn’t take it…

I took her to the hammock and we played there for awhile. She insisted that I call it a ‘swing’, and not a ‘hammock’.

Later I asked her “are the oranges sweet?”
Her reply was
“chwinkle, chwinkle lee-erl staah, hao-ah hao-ah hao-ah staah” (jz in case u don’t understand baby language… that was twinkle twinkle little star)

I like little kids… they’re so innocent! The other day my distant cousins, chris, josh and Jeremy came over to sleep. We played x-box and they bullied me like mad in Halo, and Halo2. It was about 1 in the morning, and little Jeremy wanted to sleep. He asked if he could be tucked into bed (which was a sleeping bag in the tent in our friggin cold backyard). And earlier that nite he knocked on the bathroom door to ask me shower quickly cuz they’re waiting for me to play x-box and he tot me how to drive the Ferrari car without driving on the grass parts. I found that so cute!!!

Today…

I’ll end here.
Cuz I had to pull a small fraction of my skin of my thumb and middle finger to bring them apart… n it kinda hurts as I type.
Darn super glue

Kairos

I’m a little slow in updating myself, hehe… that’s cuz I don’t hv a camera I can call my own, so I had to wait for pix to be sent to me b4 I do any updating, gomen…

Well, last week, I attended an annual OCF event: KAIROS.
Nope, it had nothing to do with yiros (aka ‘kebab’ in msia) and its not gross…

Kairos means ‘appointed time’ in Greek (I think), and it was hosted by Flinders Uni’s OCF this year, and we had it in Edwardstown Baptist church down south. It was jz a one and a half day session about LEADERSHIP. I didn’t know that it was a leadership thing until the 2nd day….=p and I did confess that to everyone present…. Heehee…

So anywayz, 1st day was cool, I learnt so much about “removing the mask”, “bible centred leadership”, “conflict resolution”, “the heart of a leader” (*cough…. I shud hv gotten the hint that this is a leadership ‘course’), and finally “spiritual gifts”. I liked the last session where all of us were split into 2 generations and had to build Noah’s ark. That was fun! It turned out looking like a coffin for Patrick (super tall dude), but yeah, we all got the message behind it all… u gotta have a vision for ur future generation…

This was my ark building team with Arthur, carol and tina as the 1st generation, and the rest of us as the siu didis and siu mui muis.

This was all of us just before we called it an end to Kairos 2006. oh ya, and the ark came in the pic too…

That’s me during makan time with carol and jane on the baby playground.

And that’s me being the tallest girl!!!! Oh tingginya aku…(I was actually jz taking a pic with laza, then suddenly the *ahem* tall* guys starting running towards me and comparing their height… they were really amazed at how tall I was…. So we took this pic)

fartastic

Every year, my family and I would celebrate mooncake festival, aka the lantern festival, aka bring-candles-to-mama’s house-and-burn-anything-burnable festival.

So this year, I’m no where near mama’s house, and also mama sold her house and moved in with my 4th uncle, so I’d have to make do with wat I hv here instead. So dai yee and uncle Jason invited uncle Michael and family over to celebrate this chinese event. Dai yee also made mooncakes!!! How cool is that!?! Though I don’t really fancy mooncakes, but since dai yee made them, and I saw how she made them, I’ve decided to like homemade mooncakes.

So yesterday nite, we were all in the backyard, setting up lanterns to create the aura. I started singing the ‘yuit guong guong’ song and got stuck half way cuz I dunno the lyrics. Then uncle mike sang the whole thing!!! Till the very end! I never got to do that ever since I learnt it from my grandad when I was 5. As we were listening to uncle Michael sing out the whole song, Jeremy suddenly said ‘ngo da pei hou chao’ (it means ‘my fart stinks’ in Cantonese) in the cutest aussie accent! Hahah… and when I was playing with fire with the three boys (Christopher, Joshua and Jeremy) Jeremy really farted and we laughed so hard. Good thing it didn’t cause the whole bondfire to explode. After that fart, we had the weirdest fart conversation. Uncle mike said if u wanna kill urself with ur own fart, u’ll have to be in an enclosed room (I didn’t catch the measurement of the room) and fart for 23 years consecutively to actually kill urself.
And did u know that NZ has problems with their sheep’s fart. Its polluting the air…
And also, there’s a chemical in farts that can be used as ignition material. Hahaha… uncle Michael said he cud save a lot if he gets to kumpul farts and replace it for fuel.
I also dunno if wat I said was true or not… but it was an interesting conversation with the adults and kids.

U know how ppl can burp the ABCs…? [Arthur burped ‘BEYOND’ so loudly it actually echoed…]
I wonder if anyone could fart the ABCs… that’ll b cool.
