JsquareE

What are the odds of u having the same full name as another person who lives on the same floor as you in the same building?

How coincidental can u get that u can bump into ur sibling’s friend’s family in a Chinese restaurant in Adelaide whom u met back in msia?

How often wud u hv the chance to lie down in the middle of a super busy city square and eat mooncakes that cost ridiculously too much with people whom u trust the most?

Little kids walked pass, planes flew pass, esther enjoyed her egg yolk, james grew hungry, sarah smiled, jez liked her pink shoes. We had to find the best way to devide that mooncake evenly, and the best knife was esther's expired student card. then we flashed out our faces from our cards as well =p dunno y james' card has the green sticky on it. maybe cuz he's a mutant. can change colour when he's hungry.

We changed our hangout place to hongfat when it got dark, but we were chased to sit on the side bench instead. Then we moved to the front steps of Tabs, where the black dog usually sits. Dodgy places to hang out, but its who u’re with that matters.

We can’t choose how we want things to happen. But we can surely find a way to respond to it with the best attitude we’ve got.

crazy mustard

There r times when u feel on top of the world, and times when u feel no better than a little mustard seed in a large pot of curry.

So insignificant, so minute.

Yes, a little mustard seed can grow into a huge oak tree. But if u’re already in the pot of curry… dun think u’ll still survive after going thru the whole digestive system. The best u cud do is to come out of it, but landing back out together with poop.

Things only get worse.

I guess the only comforting thought is to know that u’ll b of good use as fertilizers together with the poop, for the growth of something else.

It’s no fun being a mustard seed.
Lets see… how cud I not b one?

I shall be a little demanding and request that I be given the chance to curl up in my bed under the covers until I lose sense of time, become hungry and start eating my pillow case.
I also want to go back to Glenelg beach and burry myself in the sand, a few feet deep, and make friends with the crabs. If I get hungry, I can eat them!
I want to jump on a trampoline so many times till I actually loose a limb and watch it bounce off the trampoline and flop lifeless on the ground.
I want to sing a song that is engraved in my heart as the water from the shower blends in with the tears shed. And stand there with the water still running until the authorities have to come to charge me for going against water restriction rules. (note to self: I shud wear a nice bathing suit while attempting this)
I want to sit on a spinning chair and spin myself round and round till I barf out ydy’s dinner.
I want to lie down in the middle of Rundle Mall until a pigeon poops on me.
I want to grab a black bird by the beak and yell at it “I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO BE SCARED ABOUT THAN TO BE SCARED OF U!!!”

I don’t think all these will get me out of the whole mustard seed idea. Oh well… back to life~

cloud sambal

To all my friends back in msia reading this… I miss u guys HEAPS!!!

Knowing that I was a little homesick, my dear friend, Thambi Jin, joined forces with monsieur Erwin le chef, in project ‘authentic nasi lemak in UV apartment’.

I found myself entering a unit so thick with pungent curry smell that leaked its way even to the corridor. The chefs were busy with their skills on the stove, as mandy and I kept stealing fried ikan bilis and vege from the table. I was already smiling by then.

Before I knew it, I was sitting on the floor, cross-legged with my beautiful nasi lemak in front of me (also on the floor). There it lay on a piece of plastic (it was half of a plastic bag stolen from Coles, fresh fruits department) on a piece of free newspaper. The rice, nicely cupped into a round shape, ikan bilis, nuts, curry chicken, eggs, sotong sambal (I looooved it!), sliced cucumber, and a foreign dish (stick veggies). The only thing that didn’t work well was the teh tarik. We shud hv used cheaper tea instead of Earl Grey.

As much as good food turns Thambi on, the whole atmosphere almost brought me to tears as I sank my fingers into the “fat rice”. We sat together, about 7 of us, on the floor with the tv on and no one was really paying attention to it. Wahhhh, so nostalgic!!!

I went to BSF after that and my group leader said I smell like curry. I dunno if I offended anyone there but I dun care! I was on cloud 9. No, I was on cloud sambal!

bukumuka

Dear cyber hegemony,

I’ve come to a point where I’d have to say that I’m a mega looser when it comes to fads in ur world. I gave in to the waves of cyber pressure, and signed up for the book for the face.

I know wat u gonna say. “hah! I told u so!!! U’re so gonna fall for this!”
I resisted but figured I’m too tired for that, so I jatuh dalam genggaman mu.

But I have to say… its weird, that facebook. People bite each other there… they poke around, vandalize on walls and they throw sheep at each other. Now let’s not be rude here…

I guess that was why I didn’t wanna give in at 1st. modern technology… tsk tsk. They know too much. Then they make me wanna know too much. You see, I don’t need to know that much. Just wats ought to be known is sufficient. Like what time my watch died. I know that. At least it serves a purpose. I don’t need to know who bit which vampire, zombie or werewolf; or who wants to be winnie the pooh. That’s too much. Scares me you know?

Oh well, I guess your mania will never end. Keep up the good work, but bring down the bad, aight?

Your looser

reading the fine prints

Hv u ever been tricked by the crappy fine lines on a product or a promo? Like…
Get $100 worth of Uncle Toby’s stuff for FREE
With any purchase of more than $500 worth of Gummy Bears

Then u’ll end up standing at the end of the checkout counter feeling victorious and defeated at the same time, thinking wat u gonna do with so many packs of Gummy Bears.

That is how we’re trained to always read the fine prints in things. There’s always a catch in products, situations or opportunities. That’s y it gets hard when u hv good intentions in giving something nice to people. They wud always do the suspicious eyebrow raise and put up their guards. Tough luck.

But then again, when I read the fine prints in my life, it’s quite interesting. The hidden surprises wittily catch me off guard and sometimes leave me dumbfounded. I’m halfway thru this three year camp, and so far, it’s awesome mate~

At this stage, I’m getting ready to board this funky roller coaster ride. Rumour has it that its challenging but the thrills that send ur adrenalin level up the roof is priceless. So there, with expectancy of those rumours and faith on the One who controls the entire ride, I can say now… that I’m ready!

Eh wait… lemme read the fine prints 1st

FUNKY ROLLER COASTER RIDE
Ride at own risk
Guaranteed laudable experience for life

Sounds alright.

Ok, I’m ready

Xiao moment

Xiao in mandarin means to smile; Xiao in hokkien means crazy.

There I was, sitting on the kitchen counter, smelling a small piece of paper and a small envelope with my eyes closed, while my uncle and aunt buzzed around me as they were unpacking from their trip in msia.

that… was a double Xiao moment. I was smiling crazily.

They had no idea wat was going on with me. All they cud see was a pile of torn bits of paper around an Adobe InCopy DVD, and a xiao Jez, not moving on the high counter stool.

I’m so sure that the small note had the smell of Ralph Lauren -Black. Though the scent is fading off now… but I’m glad I had the xiao moment to dwell in for awhile. Not gonna get that smell till late December, so I mite as well jz make do with this. 4 more months to go. We can do it!

U who made Jez xiao… I love ya!

nerve breakdown

I know I’m weird, but sometimes my nervous system gets weirder, and it gets on my nerves! I mean... I get annoyed.

On my weird days, I respond to things strangely. For example, I was walking to woollies with mandy one day and we had to cross some roads. Its normally *looks left, look right, no cars, then cross*. But that day… I went *look left, look right, ooo! Car! And cross*. I wouldn’t be typing this now if mandy didn’t pull me back on my jumper.

It also took me long time to type an email today. I’m even having trouble typing this. For almost every word, I’ve to hit the backspace key a few times to get the word right. Darn it! I’m tired typing this post already… hope I’ll b back to “normal” tmr.

Oh ya, btw… another mandy-quote “I’ve more receipts than cash in my wallet… not a good sign”
That’s exactly how I am now, jz minus the receipts… I don’t keep them…

Over n out

Guilty pleasures

I ate plastic and tissue today. Of course not on purpose.

I’m guilty of having pizza after dinner ; Guilty of keeping qian’s choc chip cookie until now ; Guilty of finishing cereals in less than a week ; Guilty of having 2 lunch sessions and 2 dinner sessions in a day ; Guilty of having ice-cream and fries for dinner and having pie-floater after cakes and chips in just one night <-- those were just the account for the week…

Countless charges on ms Jezamine Chan.
But too fat to be locked up.
Court dismissed.

I’m hungry.

~love letter~

Love letters are such unique things.
Well, at least it makes u feel unique—directed just for u from that someone who is so marvelous, and that someone so freakin loves u.
I get love letters quite often =p thanks to email. Albeit there’s the distance, love letters r still sent by my guy~ makes me feel special.

But yesterday, I read a love letter that made my heart skip countless times, my face blush and my whole body melt, as I fall in love with the sender of that letter, all over again.

He said he loves me *blush* and he never did or will stop loving me *blush even more*
He said he’ll always pay attention to me when I wanna say something.
He said no one can take away his love for me.
He said he’ll give me my desires cuz he love me that much. He already gave me his everything…
He said his love for me is beyond understanding.
He said a lot more things that blew my mind away.

I guess he’s like that because he IS love. [1john 4:16]

I fell in love with the one who created the notion of love and gave it to me so lavishly I can’t comprehend why.

[Zephaniah 3:17]

This special letter comes in many forms and it makes me fall so in love every time I get these love spells from Him…. So romantic~

Constipated

Yeap. That’s how I feel. Not that I can’t pang sai. It’s not physical.

I noticed that when I’m very very free… I don’t blog. I’d be busy being lazy. Not that my time here has been at total waste. I’m taking time off. Doing weird stuff.

It’s when I’ve heaps of stuff to do, I’d blog. Only when constipation occurs during crazy times.

Now I’m stuck. Congested words, jam-packed lexis and wedged expressions.

I’ve got so much to say but dunno how to word it.

Its like someone u’re talking to has a hardened piece of mucus sticking at the edge of his/her nose but u cant get urself to inform him/her cuz u dowana sound rude.

Frustration is the word. But u gotta still put a smile on ur face.

Uni life is good.

Good food fed.

Good bed slept on.

Good technology mediated.

It’s all good.

Just… a little constipated.

in secondary skool i was known as the small pengawas who laughs very loud

in college the guard had to hush me down in the common area

sheesh!!! cant i jz laugh at my own rate and not be judged? come on... its not that bad...

well, here's a little [sorry] note to all my friends who i've embarassed cuz i laughed and caused others to look at as weird freaks. didnt mean to... ampun maaf, beribu ribu ampun, thousand apologies *wobbles head*

back to skool...

My 4th semester of uni starts tmr. I would say I didn’t have a distinctive holiday, but it was a good break in my monotonous schedule, and I’m all set to go back to the routine lifestyle again.

During the winter holidays I had a chance to …

eat so much popcorn till I can almost smell popcorn in my pee

sleep on a single bed with another person (twice)

finish one subject in a week

stay up all night and be showered with edifying testimonies, only going to sleep at 7.30 in the morning

be an anime character whom I’m not really familiar with and laugh till I cant stand properly at other characters

enjoy home cooked msian food after singing Negaraku with a piece of chicken in my mouth

learn how to count in German, French, and Tamil; write my name in Arabic and be reminded of some phrases in Telegu

go dress shopping with a bride-to-be

play charade, taboo, uno, win lose or draw, bass, tennis, ps2, game cube…

act as a woman who was about to be stoned, a hypocrite friend, a mother, a girlfriend, a bride, a boyfriend (that was weird), a bad girlfriend, a bimbo, and a banana [of course, I did that all at different times]

bake Oreo cheesecake with Mandy

balance 8 plates, 3 coffee cups, cutleries and left over food at one go

and write a blog entry that I don’t know how to end…

sappy bench

What do u get when u come across a fish and an elephant?

Swimming trunks!

What do u get when u come across a park bench and a darn sappy conversation in a movie?

A crying jez!

I dunno y…. movies with scenes of park benches will make me cry. Why on earth do they choose the park?! Why the long bench?! Why do I cry?!

To name a few that I watched lately [Finding Neverland- Johnny Depp spoke to the little boy on the bench], [Good Will Hunting- Robin Williams spoke to Matt Damon on the bench], [Forest Gump- need I say more?]…
There was even a scene in Grey’s anatomy season 3 epi 25, Nazi was on a bench with George…. Wahhhh… I was like… “ok this is not a sad scene, its in a freaking hospital, not in a park! not crying... NNNot crying!”

Of course… not ALL scenes with benches in the park make me cry. Like when a scene is about drunkards who wee next to the bin beside a park bench. Not sappy but crappy...

There has to be an emotional build up, a good conversational and better still-- it’ll trigger the tears if the characters are of little kids or old grand-dudes with shaky voices.

But actually, park benches brings back memories of nonstop Futurama and FRIENDS with horny, slurping up cup noodles in the midst of our pile of books.

Oh and also the time I had to spend the nite on a bench with shua (different benches of course) cuz we had no place to go when we went back packing to inti nilai.

Anyhoot, that was quite random… yet! I do not hv to apologize for my randomness. Its jz the way this site shud run. On pure randomness.

all hail emo movies with benches!

size is not a matter

Ever wondered why Asians are smaller than other nations?

I don’t hv the answer…

Even the fruits are not siding us…

I’m not saying being big is bad and I’m not trying to be racist here. My point here is about SIZE. Why is the big one being seen as the better one. Or the one with more authority? In this case, a mandarin can be an orange but an orange cant be a mandarin. Makes sense?

But! Just when u peel the skin to get to the inside and taste what the small mandarin has to offer… that, my friends…. is another sweet sweet story, nyehehe…

screen fight

With my freshly cut and painted nails, I can now update my blog with joy.

Hahah… that was rather random. I just wanted to get that out of the system.

Anyways… winter holidays. How was it for Jez? Not bad actually. Complained a little that my boss made me work almost everyday, and that I’ve to sacrifice my lazy dayz at home with big tshirts and baggy pants in front of the TV with some fortuitous SBS movie next to the fierce heater.

Come to think of it, I’ll take my words back. I’m glad I got to work all week. Tiring but satisfying. I’ve learnt so much in these short weeks which I can never do so from the idiot box I reckon.

“I can make very very cold Hot-Chocolate, and very very hot Iced-Coffee” beams my boss as I looked at him with the =.=” look. I tried not to laugh but when he said “want to try some?” with his somewhat ham sap look, I cracked out laughing and telling my lady boss that her husband needs to rest cuz he’s going a little insane.

I like my bosses. They’re nice ppl. Very patient as well. I made countless mistakes and yet not a discouraging word was thrown at me. Some of their comments are quite comical. Especially with me and my O-jezsm (which means ‘easily tickled’ [word created by duane, mandy and ming] and sounds like something else but has totally nothing to do with that), I laugh at almost any comment they make. I think their Arabic accent contributes to my condition as well. My boss’ son (Tony) also sprinkles unplanned pesters that keep me away from the word “bored” all day at work. Colleagues are nice and some customers and worth offering my smile to.

When its not peak hours, we’d all stand around the oven and talk about anything that comes in mind. I also like hanging out at the corner on table 11 after my shift and they’d tell me about their experience when they were back in Jordon where there was war. Wah so chunnn… Tony actually saw flying bullets whiz pass outside his window. Ok, maybe not that chunnn. Its scary.

The only thing I don’t like to do at work is when I get the kitchen shift and I’ve to fry bacons if there’s a need to. The babi pieces explodes on the pan and spits hot oil everywhere. Painful la… oh and also the slicing. Well, I like the slicing part, but it’s the cleaning of the machine after every item that drives me up the wall. Wish it cud clean itself up and not torture me when I’m still half asleep at 8 in the morning.

Anywayz, I’ll be having a break from work and heading back to uni for winter skool tmr. Have to find another way to stay sane as I go thru 9-5 for 5 days in a row. Wish me luck.
