semi aussiefied

I’ve been in Australia for a year and a half now. I think I’ve learnt many aussie terms like “ta” for thanks and “paw paw” for papaya. But I still fail at being an individual who can tell other than I’ve been living in Adelaide for that long. U know why? Cuz…

I’ve not had farmer’s union iced coffee
I’ve not shopped in Myers or David Jones
I’ve not gone to Harbor Town
I’ve not gone to a real live footie game

But now, I’m almost there cuz I drank the ice coffee and almost fell asleep crossing the road. And I finally ventured to Harbor Town~ *beams proudly*

I went with the Lam(e) Brothers—James and Ming.

Hungry James

Ming’s BMW had a slight problem but he was smart, and saved it with the green tape! Of all colors… green…

We chomped down our baguettes and burgers then came hard-core shopping bonanza!!!

I had only one motive—to get myself a good pair of Mary Jane shoes . But I had a major size crisis… even size 5 was loose for me. Not the usual case if I was looking for sport shoes…

Walked into every shoe shop but none fit me. Even Ming the shopping sifu felt my frustration. Anyhow I ended up with this almost fitting Keds which I really like and its bright pink! Talk about lack of attention…

I was the one who wanted to shop but ended up with James buying most things. This reminds me of the times I’d spent with shua n horny in shopping complexes… minus the good fashion sense by the Lams. They wud block away “sale” signs and lead me to the direction of KFC. Hahha… every top I tried on wud b nice, and we got confused between a tube and a skirt. Those were the blur days… and btw… I still cant shop unless I’m with a qualified shopper.

Anyhoot, I ended up at Ming’s hse for dinner after that and watched a super old Stephen chow movie (Sixty Million Dollar Man- 1995) with huey chi, ming and his mom. I also got to play with James’ Lego Exo-force. So cool… got lights 1… and can shoot plastic bullets with a rubber tip from the right arm.

The bad guy is the big one and the small fart is the good guy who does not hv lights…

I had a good day out and that didn’t aussie-fy me totally but at least I got to go harbor town =)

]yum[

I burnt my lips a few times in 2 days straight. It wasn’t until now that I noticed I’ve not been eating healthy. Once in awhile… nvm la, rite? I still can fit into my pants… can wear 2 pairs of long pants sumore! So not bad la…

In 2 days time, I had:
2 pieces of roti canai with nutella (super good chocolate fudge/paste)
1 cup of hot chocolate made by my boss
1 plate wonton mee (gon lou) (the WHOLE plate) (eh no joke… aussie-sized) with roasted duck
1 glass of white chocolate milk with marshmallow fluff and choc powder toppings
1 bowl of cereal
1 medium sized popcorn pack shared with friends
Some raw salmon with honey mustard sauce
Some bitter god in eggs (ulk…)
1 bar of crunchie

That, ladies n gents…. Is the recipe to contentment =)

holi-what?

My friend said something that made me think… “y are u so happy when u actually didn’t suffer much for ur exams?”

Darn… there went my enthusiasm for my holidays…

Adding to that… my boss is making work more now… not that I hv a choice, cuz I memang hv ntg to do so work it shall be for me. Just in case u’ve not been keeping up with jez, she’s no longer working at subways (I cant believe I wrote a poem on working there, hahaha). She’s at a cozy cafĂ© called Tiffany’s and the Vanilla Slice is to die for.

Oh well… something to keep my mind off the idea of robbing the bank to buy a ticket to fly home to watch transformers with timmy, who mite fall asleep and waste another movie ticket but it’ll b worth while anyways.

Haiz… holidays… dun sound so nice after all.

But then again. One cant be too sure. For all I know, this 2 weeks of uni break could be an unforgettable one =)

sejoooooook

2nd year going thru winter > sejooooooooook
A recap of Jez’s winter 2006

2007- Its so cold…
-I’ve made friends with Mr. Heater.
-I walk around the city like a giant fish ball or a mascot for the tire company [Michelin].
-I no longer need an electronic toothbrush cuz shivering in the morning will vibrate my toothbrush enuf to make it seem like an electronic brush.
-I dread coming out from the hot shower. i know i know... water restrictions... but it's really hard!!!
-I beat world record for putting on clothes fastest after the shower.
-I always feel like peeing even though u didn’t drink much water.
-I still wish I have heated toilet bowls in my house…

Its so cold it’s a shame there’s still no snow in Adelaide… at least if it snows and I get to throw snowballs at ppl then being in the cold is worth it. Oh well… spring will still be the season I ALWAYS look forward to.

Happy freezing everyone!!!

I'm back baybeh~

Wazappp wazappp my dear friends who yells “I’m so bored with studying so please entertain me, Jez!!!!”. Have no fear. Jez is here. *thunder and lightning*

…and no I’m not here to entertain… I’m jz here to revive my blog…

*in heavy chinese accent*

My computer so fat…
That when I click one buttonnnn….
It gets
‘stuck’.

Thank you.

Well, that was how it used to be before. Just like how the hongkee standupcomedian’s friend’s fat mom’s situation would be (as told by Russell Peters). Now… my laptop seems to be one happy laptop cuz it went for a liposuction. Now its as light as a piece of paper on my lap. Free from my torturous pictures (terlampau banyak syok-sendiri pix =p), my almost 20Gigg music collection, and my countless movie collection.

Thanks to my new toy—my new external hard disk
Though its 6.25times bigger than my old external HDD, but its also 6.25times bigger in capacity. Woot~

Got it for quite a fair deal from Officeworks. Thanks James for spotting this for me =)

I like it not because it slimmed down my laptop, it also has this cool limegreen ring on the side when it’s on. Cantik~ with that I shall name it… Lemonade! Or should I call it BlackLemon? Help me with this will ya?

Ever After

Once upon a time
*chrriiing* stroke from the chime
There lived a little girl
In this gila & bizarre world.

Only 5 feet small
With everyone else so tall
She leaves Never Never Land
To sink her feet in fresh sand.

With songs in her pocket
Curiosity in their sockets
Flexibility in her hands
Just like a fresh rubber band.

Mouth like the black hole
Which swallows food and bowl
She rides with the wind
With a sincere grin.

On this unexpected day
In this bewildering way
She meets her prince
And has been happy-er ever since.

He came in his shiny grey horse
Sturdy from its Proton Wira force (hahah… I like this one)
Gentle strength, and strong smile
Makes this girl go senile.

He patiently waits
At the arrival gates
For her to return home
So they can have coffee at DOME™ *swt*

You may anticipate an “Ever After”
But this poem should end with a laughter
For “Ever After” has already been promised
Its just how this little girl lives it.

-there can never be an end-
ps: if u're a uni student who has exams and assignments due soon, and u're reading this... *shakes head* bad bad girl/boy... go back to ur books la!
heheh... and
ALL THE BEST IN UR EXAMS / ASSIGNMENTS!!!

kunci kunci ku (keys keys of mine)

My fingers felt like they were gonna fall off. I was stranded on an ‘island’ called my front porch for 2 hours out in the cold, winter’s (drizzling) afternoon.

Why? U may ask… well, let me take u on journey of my super malang day.

1st…. I lost my key.

Loosing the freedom of going in and out of my hse is one thing. Loosing my treasured keychain is another…

2nd…. I missed the bus.

I was looking for my keys so I went out 10 seconds late and I watched the bus roll pass me.

So fine la, I decided to take the other bus, then I realized I 4got to take my BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) notes [very important stuff]. So I turned back and found out I cant go in the hse, cuz I dun hv key!!!! So bengang!

Warrggghhh….

Mandy was supposed to come back around this time but for some reason she wasnt back yet. And she didn’t bring her mobile to uni, so I had to call duane to get her friend’s num to call her friend to see if she’s coming back or not. Took me 35mins to reach her friend who then tells me she jz went to her bus stop. So I thought… I guess it’ll b worth the wait. So I waited for another 50 mins… no sign of her.

For about 2 hours, I was in the porch, freezing my butt off. I was so stuck! Cant do nutts but postpone my meeting, hv my packed lunch, read “extravagant worship” (which was really good), and sms anyone who came in mind. If u’re reading this and I didn’t msg u… well, cuz I had to do all these with fingers out of my pocket and it was so cold, so I cant sms a lot… but know that I had u in mind ;) and thx tim for cheering me up with that tiny ‘hope’, hehe…*muax*

Well, It was like pure survival torture on the porch man! I could hear the house phone ring but I cant pick it up. I wanted to keep smsing but my fingers froze. I wanted to call mandy but I cant reach her. I wanted to go in the house but I DON’T HV MY FREAKIN KEYS!!!

Ok, I think I need some rest. Its been a hard day for me…

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? [Matt 6:25-27]

There are so many things I’m worried about… and I guess now its time I stop doing so…

Ok God, I’m not worrying d… can You lead me to my keys? Pretty pretty please?

blogism

“What do u want to achieve in blogging?”

I was asked this question by someone who was asked by someone else, hahah… (y do u all talk about things like that ah?)

Anyhoot… I will express my views on this once and never talk about it anymore. Cuz ppl r actually studying about the habit of blogging, the effects and affects, the power of blogging and all those crappy philosophies.

Blogging is such a fragile issue. Rampant, but fragile.

I was jz randomly surfing the net and found this
dua sen smith guy who is a politically incorrect irregular columnist who combines his idiosyncratic observations and tangential commentary into a blog. Very creative… but sometimes can get dangerous. But I guess this is how cyber-tainment works, heheh…

There’s also another one I saw last time. Tried really hard to find it again, but failed. Mindy shared it with me long time ago. It’s by this ah ma. Not super terror English but understandable Msian ah ma language. She has grand kids and all that. Very geng lo… if I were that age, I dun think I’d know what is blogging and how to turn on a computer. I *salute* the ah ma blogger.

Some people draw.

Some people become famous.

So blogs are sometimes entertaining, sometimes quite saddening.

I went to a friend’s blog site. Lost contacted friend but I still visit this friend’s blog cuz I think this friend writes really well. And everytime I visit this friend’s site… I get jealous. Dunno y. and that’s very bad. I must not b envious of what ppl have or don’t hv. That’s jz not how it shud work with Jez.

Sumore now another friend who is a very good blogger and does not make me feel negatively jealous about anything…. decides to terminate her blog. Haih….

Okla, enuf of the downs… I personally quite like blogging (minus all the sad parts la). I get to see my friends’ photoshop, phototaking, and writing skills. So the cool lor!!! Oh and also check out what’s been up with them la of course. Even though some ppl jz read other blogs and not update their own… it’s still ok. Cuz it shows that they r bz (with their bodies [bz body] (jz in case u’re not lame enuf to catch that)) .But I think we all should not judge that person by their blog posts cuz there are so many things left unsaid or maybe said in exaggerated descriptions.

There's also this comment by Mr. Brown about Malaysian blogging. super interesting...

So yeah… blogging deserves a smile from jez =) and also should not b misused or criticized by the mass… poor old “blog”… kena exploit and kutuk all the time.

Hv a great time reading ppl’s blogs and not bothering to leave any comments to make the blogger feel slightly happier…

Expect the unexpected

Mindy’s thoughts:

“If corn oil was made of corn… then what’s baby oil made of?
Hmmm…”

Jez’s thoughts:

“In Japan, there’s a place called Tokyo and another called Kyoto.
So in Malaysia… there should be a place called Lakua Purlum.
Right…?”

I sang

I sang.

Into the fog of my own breath, I sang.

I sang my heart off, in the pouring rain, under the minimal shelter of the bus stop.

No one heard or saw my crazy act. But I know Someone did.

And He smiled at me as I sang.

Into the fog of my own breath, I sang.

Twin Boys, twin lives

The stories of identical twins' nearly identical lives are often astonishing, but perhaps none more so than those of identical twins born in Ohio. The twin boys were separated at birth, being adopted by different families. Unknown to each other, both families named the boys James. And here the coincidences just begin. Both James grew up not even knowing of the other, yet both sought law-enforcement training, both had abilities in mechanical drawing and carpentry, and each had married women named Linda. They both had sons whom one named James Alan and the other named James Allan. The twin brothers also divorced their wives and married other women - both named Betty. And they both owned dogs which they named Toy. Forty years after their childhood separation, the two men were reunited to share their amazingly similar lives. (Source: Reader's Digest, January 1980)

now now children... pay attention

Hajimemashiooooo (let's begin)~ *scary smile*

Today we will learn about the freaking hard stuff in uni.

1st, try to make sense of the following, and then write a 2500word essay about the notion of place and home:

[ For recent apertures in critical thought instigated by certain internal displacements in the hearth of the West (feminism, deconstructionism, psychoanalysis, post-metaphysical thought) have been increasingly augmented by the persistent question of a presence that no longer lies elsewhere: the return of the repressed, the subordinate and the forgotten in ‘Third World’ musics, literatures, poverties and populations as they come to occupy the economies, cities, institutions, media and leisure time of the First World. ] Migrancy, Culture, Identity by Iain Chambers 1994

*jez’s thoughts: that was one standing paragraph and its ONE sentence!!!! What the ikan?!?!?*

Then in digital media techniques, use the tags from HTML codes in ccs to confuse urselves
. This crossplatform capability and the ability to incorporate a range of data types makes HTML (which actually means Extensible HyperText Markup Language) useful in electronic publishing.
*jez's thoughts: sorry cikgu... lost u there...."

Before you apply that, make sure u get free images from the web to form a banner (using the Marquee Tools and the Lasso Tools for the masking technique) in photoshop. If u think that’s easy, u may not think so when u start doing it with a mac computer that blows up right at ur face.
*jez's thoughts: ...nope... still not getting it..."

Daijobu desuka? (are u ok?), ima (now)…
Minasan(everyone)… allow watashi (I/ me) to warn u:
Nihon go (Japanese language) wa (is) totemo (very) muzukashi (hard) desu (no particular meaning for this) !
Anata (you) may think it’s omoshiroi (interesting) at 1st, demo (but) after some time… it will be chotto (quite) tsumoranai (boring) and drives u up the wall.

Now for advertising… *rubs hands together*
We make people wanna buy things that are of no use, pay a high price for it and then we make a run for it.
End of class.
See you next week with a new idea to sell a random thing which I will say it’s a good idea but give u low marks for it just because I can.

Somehow… all those seems to make daigaku (university) life somewhat omoshiroi (interesting) and think this is all worth flying all the way from Msia for.

Ganbatte (add oil) to all students in the sekai (world)!!!!!

h...e...l...p...!

praying for some / any random person to come up to me and help me in this web design assignment....

salute!!! to all mothers~

I drank coffee this (Friday)morning.

For those of u who know me well, I’m somewhat allergic to coffee. Its makes my brain and breathing go crazy and I fall asleep really fast. But I love coffee. So it’s only for special occasions that I drink them.

Today, is sort of special, heehee…

Mandy and I decided to cook breakfast for our aunt to celebrate mother’s day for her. So it’s a special occasion rite? Plus, I dun hv class today so I can go to sleep after that.

The fact that my aunt is a super good cook, this b-fast idea gave me a lot of pressure. What if the sausage is not cooked on the inside? What if the scramble eggs are too tough? Would the pancakes be too burnt? High flame? How much salt? Well, it turned out ok, cuz Mandy was around to tell me what to do.

So in celebrating mother’s day for my beloved aunt who cared and nurtured me for a year plus now, breakfast made by her nieces were the sincere gifts to her. I also accidentally knocked her head with the pantry cupboard door, and set the fire alarm off while cooking sausages. But over all… it was good. Hey… I didn’t set the whole house on fire or break her favorite scan pan. That’s good enuf d k.

I really look up to middle aged women. Mothers in particular. They r so respectable, so strong, so humble and so responsible. Like my mom. I really thank the Lord for mommy.

When ppl talk about their moms, it’ll be of a woman cooking in a cozy kitchen. Those in a flowery apron and oven mittens, holding up a stuffed glowing turkey, curly short hair, red lips, and a big smile on her smooth face and a shiny clean house. Hahah, not all la, but u get the picture. The stereotypes of mothers, though considered to be quite historic but I’m not surprised this tradition is still going on.

Well, I’m glad my mom is not like that. She the lady in the car with me singing loudly in the front seat and Charmaine trying to sing louder on the back seat, making the radio quite useless. With cooking skills of 2 out of 10 (only makes super good unhealthy food), I’m glad I dun hv to be pressured to live up to the good cooking skill standards, heehee… (good thing Tim’s mom also dun cook often =p) with that, I thank God for grandmas who cook and take-outs (da pao –ism).

I salute mom for the ability to care for two very annoying girls

And a man who cant live without Maggie mee.

To be able to bear the crazy life of driving her daughters every where and still watch some Pilipino dramas while folding the clothes. Woman of multitasking and woman of power!!! Wooosh!

Ok need to go d. got a call to start working!!!! Woohooo! PTL!!!

Anywayz, dear mommy (if u’re reading this) and dai yee,

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!!

pancakes and amps

Some ppl would avoid the day they celebrate their existence and age with cakes, prezzies and cards as reminders. For me, I treasure every moment of it =) cuz it only happens once a year.

This year I thought it wud seriously be a quiet one cuz my bday falls on the “bz for assignments” season so I would not want to trouble my friends in gently dipping me in bak kut the soup to celebrate my bday. But guess what, they continue to surprise me every single time. Biggest thank u note I wanna send out is to huey chi who put so much effort in making my day super special. Though her plans to sabo me sort of failed, but its ok, it’s the heart that counts, hahaha… read about it here. And another brownie point goes to Indian desserts put together to form a cake on my 19th bday? Well this year, it’s as unique as that. Heheh, I had chocolate pancake with a sparkler on top as my cake and a kookaburra that laughs at me. As qian said: “Some spaz moves from uncle Sam 'dancing in the moonlight', homer simpson (who wants my keys or it wont shut up), the Manglish Bible talk, pancakes, anti-wrinkle cream, a cinapek, a "vietnamese", loads of laughs, berbanyak-banyak leng luis, and a baldie, with a bonus viewing of the wall of matchbox-cars, who could ask for more”
I really cant ask for more. Huey chi even did something else in prayer meeting for me! Hhahaha, she just HAS to sabo me.

To share the joy, I promise to learn bass with zeal and play it with passion. I dedicate those 2 cool thingamajiggies to the One who blessed me with friends who blessed me with them, and I shall name them Michiele and Gabriele after the 2 archangels, Michael &Gabriel. Idea by ming. Modification by esther, mindy and james. I wanted girl names for them, and to jazz things up, u hv to say it this way: mee-kee-ell & gay-bree-ell with air and force from diaphragm (keep practicing). Soon, I would hope to be known as Jez the bassist! And not Jez the one who claims to be a bassist but cant play it for nuts.

Well, I’m super happy for friends like these who wud know the right button to press to see me laugh, smile, choke or cry (I almost cried when I saw the chic and almost glowing black bass amp in the box when ming set it on the table in front of the clueless me). These are the people who I’d think is worth living my life till 20 and am awfully excited about the coming days I will spend with them even when the space for candles on the cake runs out and when I hv no breath to blow them out (well, there’s always sparklers that’ll die off by itself).

Thank you all SOOOO much!!!!!!

Signs

I tend to have this weird “thing” for signs. Billboard or just normal warning signs… I just like them.
The simple, non-fuss, right to the point, direct and attractive signs…. Ahhh~ so special…

I know this is weird… but I cant help it. I get really fascinated by them and I try not to show it. But now I shall declare my weakness and show you all (actually just some) of the sign pictures I took of the fascinating SIGNS…

These are the ones of
