wooot!

My goodness! My muscles and building, my shoes r wearing off, my watch seems to b going faster than usual, my pants r getting tighter, and my smiles r getting wider.

Done with year 2 of uni, and its time to PARTAY baybeh!!!

What have I been up to after sem 2 of year 2?
I’ve been balancing plates (with cutleries), cups and glasses around Tiffany’s.
Picked strawberry and ate heaps of them on the way till my tongue got soar.
Jamming and singing my head off with other jammers and head-singer-offers till my voice changed.
Meeting up with ppl whom I’ve not been catching up for a loooooong time this year.
Playing with kids who have no mercy on me (was bullied by the boys at uncle vincent’s house with water guns, light sabers and foam missiles; and was attacked by 2 boys at church- both of them called Ethan).
Looking out for cheap shops along rundle for future grocery and hardware needs.
Laughing till I tear at how people answer riddles, and also at a roaring chick magnet who was trying to act out the word ‘Thesaurus’ during charaded-taboo.
Taking pictures with men in kilts, and given a pink balloon, chalk, sweets and more lollies at the parade.

Going on a road trip tmr! Gonna b driven along Great Ocean Road with 9 other ppl. I wonder how ‘great’ it’ll b. we’ll see.

Convention 07 will be another mind blowing experience for me. It blew my mind off last year and I know it’ll blow what’s left of my mind off again this year! Even as God's grace continues to amaze me every single day, there will always be bigger amazements in my days ahead, cuz my understanding of His great love seems so narrow when compared to the real thing.

Let's dance

Let’s dance.

Put on your riches face,

and gracefully slide with me.

Cast your eyes away from the audience,

close it if you must.

But open your heart.

Dance with heart and arms wide open,

Open for the One who understands the moves.

Let’s dance for the One who created dance.

Let’s dance for ‘dance’ itself.

Groove with the beat,

Sway with the melody,

Let the notes dig deep in your bones,

Let the chords ring strong in your muscles.

Let’s dance.

Be all there. No where else but on the stage.

We own it.

If you ever fall from a leap,

Just strike a pose and beam with two rows of teeth.

Doesn’t matter how loud the crowd cheers,

It’s one affirming smile you have to strive for.

Let’s dance.

Child labour

Haha, nola, it was done voluntarily by us—the two regular users of the bathroom. Cuz of fogs from hot showers, the ceiling started to crack and it didn’t look good. So we had to paint it before it gets worst. I have to admit that sometimes I don’t turn the fan on cuz its so darn cold during winter… so yes… suffer the consequences I did.

Mandy and I had to 1st scrape the original layer of paint, then sandpaper it till its smooth, then paint new layer on. All three steps are super tough… our necks were so sore after that. Took us more than half a day to finish it… then hv to clean up sumore. Aih… why can’t we have plastic ceilings with cool glittery starfish that can float in it? Nice, entertaining n hassle free.

the show~

[written on 19th sept... i found it by accident]

The weather is not smiling today. As much as I’d like to be outside, I’m glad I get to jz sit at home and watch Scrubs all day. When the weather is not nice, it’s REALLY not nice. But when it’s good, u have every single reason to be out and about. Just like last weekend when I got to be in a fun fair called Royal Adelaide Show. Apparently it’s been around for hundreds of years and this happens once a year only. I didn’t do a lot of things which I shud hv done in the fair, but I had a jolly good time =)

It was rather hard moving in a group of 12, ppl joined in and left the group once in awhile, but it showed me how much we need friends. I may have all the money in the world to be spent in the fair, but if no one plays with me, I’m as pathetic as the Bart Simpson stuffed toy hanging upside down from the booth which I so wanted to get one for myself.

I got myself a Nova showbag, a free facepainting, a head-gear for the day—a fluffy halo, 5 donuts (I shared it), and a $1 600ml Farmer’s Union Coffee. Woohooooo!!! I lost all the games I played, still trying to win Bart down from the stand. I went in and out of jail and was killing James with my screams (Prison Break “ride”—something like haunted house). I saw little piggies race for ntg, and jump into a pool of water, swim across to the other side where the man who looked like a butcher in white suit gave them their treat. I stroked alpacas (something like llamas, except with more fur) and horny goats. I even got to chase the alpacas back into their cage (hahah, someone let it out and the alpacas roamed around the barn… I think they were as tall as me =p). I saw crazy young boys do their stunts on bikes like it’s so simple (who ever invented Motorcross?!), I was amazed… I had a stick of carrot for dinner. I saw big men with beards drive bulldozers and make them dance around. Yes, seriously… those trucks were dancing!!! And I saw fireworks with my mouth open, wishing I cud watch it with Timmy. I won’t mind even if I had to watch the fireworks thru the reflection of it in his eyes…. I walked around still hoping to get a Bart, but the lady wud only sell it to me for $40. No way hozay.

Next year, I’d do it all over again. This experience unleashed the child within me. It was nice to be a kid again. Now that I know what to do and wat not to do in Royal Adelaide Show, I’ll enjoy myself even more next time I’m sure. I’d go for rides, walk thru the jubilee hall, look at colourful baby chicks, go on a camel ride, go there from morning and stay till nite, and go with exciting ppl ;)

ps... we had a group pic taken but it didnt turn out good. cant see our faces... anyways, here're more pix

Speak down the box

I often stumble upon times when I’d say “I was gonna say that but I just didn’t…”.

I think its more like ‘darn it, shud hv processed that thought faster and got it out of my mouth earlier’.

Its not that it’ll make much of a difference if I said it or another person said it. As long as the issue is settled and the matter is done, then it’s alright. But sometimes, it’ll help greatly if I presented my views there and then, instead of watching things go wrong and then only go “actually… I thought about it b4 but didn’t say anything about it then”.

In Cantonese, we cud use the words “zhar dou”. An inward tug that no one can sense except for myself. (sometimes ppl say ‘zhar dou’ after a very lame joke, but that feeling is somewhat different to this. That’s more like -.-“ swt)

Sometimes it gets crazier when I think too fast and let that thought fly thru my grey matters and then I jz conveniently forget it. How do I control the speed of my thoughts? I shud install a think-o-meter. *beep beep beep! Exceeded speed limit! Slow down or u’ll explode*

I pity those who have to have to experience the after math of jez-didn’t-say-it-earlier-loh… if I just mumbled or twitched an eyebrow to show that I’ve something to say about something, and formed the words to express it, then ppl relating to the certain issue could have done (or could have chose not to do) something about it. At least the spark of thought was released.

I should be brave. Speak down the walls that boxes me in. Scream till they break so I’ll be free from being “zhar dou”-ed.

Breathe in, Breathe out

Whether or not the sun comes out tomorrow,
I know that it’ll still be there.
Though the night may be swelled with sorrow,
The joy comes with the morning glare.

Breathe in, breathe out; slow and steady,
Allow the spirals dawdle and clam down before you.
The week ahead may be forecasted cloudy,
Yet the sky in your heart is swept clean—brand new.

Effortlessly I can blatantly say: take me and mould me,
I’m ready for the expected suffering,
But is my everything willingly given to Thee,
Or just a small portion of my dutiful offering?

The forceful breeze brushes pass my face,
As I bite the bullet with unspoken fear.
I speed up and I slow down in the race,
Always knowing that the end is near.

So dwell not in the groans and irks,
Oh tired soul of mine.
Release smiles, or at least little smirks,
And care-freely flutter in His love, so divine.

For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may remain for a night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Psalm 30:5

To all of you who are taking a break from your studies…. GET BACK TO WORK! (and stop going to your facebook site)

Heheh… alright alright… everyone needs a break sometimes.

May all of you (that includes me) stay sane under the pile of work/ assignments/ textbooks/ notes/ pressure. Don’t forget to breathe in, and breathe out.

the hammock

The fabric tucks me in, closing my whole body up into a cocoon, keeping me above the ground, and below the shades of the trees. In this warm day of spring, I lie half awake, floating in this weather that keeps everyone sleepy.

I wonder who created the hammock… Must be someone who badly wants and needs a break from his/ her daily affairs, and wants to keep away from the ground for while.(floating village, siem reap, cambodia)

I used to have bad experiences with hammocks. There was one huge hammock in the holiday house that my big family and I used to go in PD. It was loosely weaved up with thick soft strings that looked like a colorful fishing net, hanging from one pillar to another. I think I was 4 then. I wanted to climb on it like how the adults were doing, but my little limbs went through the holes between the strings and I got stuck. I struggled till I fell to the ground with a clumsy thud, and with my leg still stuck in the net. Didn’t like hammocks.

When my uncle got a new house and installed a hammock in his balcony, I was a little iffy about it already. It was also the hole-y type one, and I fell through the strings that time. Double dislike for hammocks.

Now that I’m slightly bigger… ok, a lot bigger, I can handle hammocks better. The one I’m on is the full-cloth-with-no-big-holes one. I now look forward to nice days like these when I can sit out here with short pants (wooohooo!! Finally I can wear short pants after so long!) and a good book. I usually would end up not reading it. I’ll b finding myself deep in thought. Someone told me thinking alone is dangerous. But dun worry… these thoughts r fruitful ones (I think). As I look at the bird eating a worm above me (yes… right above me), and ignoring the loud buzz from aussie flies, I let my thoughts catch the breeze and swirl around in loose circles, and bouncing back at me with a fresh smile.

As I hang lazily on this red hammock, I quietly and sincerely thank the Creator of such beautiful things around me, for everything I could and could not think of; for designing every intricate creature, outside and inside this hammock. I thank God for His promise of never leaving me, even when I find myself in my little closed-up hiding place, I can never hide away from Him.

2 couches+1 weekend=coolness

Yay~ tonite, I reunite with my bed!!!

As I lay on my bed under my cold n soft cover with sunblock lotion still thickly spread on my arms and face, I recalled the cool stuff I did this weekend. I’d do it all again, but I know there’re more exciting things to do than to do stuff that I did all over again.

Lets start with Friday morning. I woke up early to get to the city to hand in my assignment, then to meet up with M & M, jz to hv a (commie)girl’s catch up session. But there were change of plans n I ended up jz throwing sheep and drawing sheep on facebook till I had to rush for work. No complains though =) I got to bump into jasmine liang whom I miss oh so dearly, and got to catch up while we were facebooking, hehhe…

I overworked for an hour, didn’t hv b/fast or lunch. Till 4.30pm mandy saved me with chicken n roti canai that she packed from home. I’m so loved~ she waited for me till I finished work which totally was a waste of her time… (sorry mandy!!!) cuz she had to rush off at 5 anyways…

Then it was mug> wrapper> jin n ken> leong char (hor yan ho) for my sick bro> no tram yet> OCF> evil truffles> good looking stranger (Andrew)> UV apartment> write n wrap present> Debbie is wonderwoman!> girl talk with Debbie n her housemates> couch> sleep> cold> early morning> fried eggs with cheese in English muffins for self n the boys> Debbie still my wonderwoman> workshop> Ps Greg let us poke faces at him and the group> inspired> lunch> saw xi in funny uniform> fake teriyaki chicken> shifted makan spots> walked back to UV apartment> call from boss> panic> jez is irresponsible doofhead>

I was distracted with food and group. I was supposed to return trays to Shanghai Delights lady at old food court, but we had lunch at new food court. So I left the trays there to ‘chup’ space while I went to get food. Then we shifted makan spots and I totally forgot about them trays. Debbie and I flew back to china town as soon as I found out I was a doofhead. I prayed so hard on the way there. Deb tried to calm me down with a funny story. It worked ;) she’s my wonderwoman. We rushed back to our old spot. Trays weren’t there. I asked the cleaner lady nicely, she pinned me down with her stare and yelled “what tray?! Haiya…Go kitchen!”

erm… where? So I turned to another cleaner guy who looked like phua chu kang with black boots instead of yellow ones. He pointed at the direction of the kitchen, which was slightly more helpful. We went there n saw another bunch of scary old asian cleaner ladies who were yelling at me and at each other.

“what u want?!”

“erm… 6 white trays and 2 red trays”

“tcai you liu ge pan! Qi ta de mei you!” (only 6 trays, ntg else)

Commotion commotion…

Another lady walks pass, “zhe ge?” (this one?) *holds up the other 2 red trays*

Yes!!! Thank you!!!! Gam siah gam siah

Wah, I’m so glad I found them. So glad I’ve a kind and forgiving teammate. So glad I had wonderwoman beside me.

Ok, to continue with the arrow and word thing.

Jam session> throw m&m’s at pigeon> childhood sharing with deb, ken, dan, etc> china town> mandarin house> gila spicy food> Rachel & Deb’s bday> lame jokes> happy gas> duane’s new house> almost embarrassing event> couch number 2> muffin toast with jam> kidzone> SO CUTE!!> Marianne’s baptism> milkshakes> tram> shooting in Adelaide> bus>home sweet home…

enough

When your heart and your head is not in sync,

The feeling is just not fantastic.

“Am I just being paranoid?!” you might think,

Or I might just be falling sick.

Answers to questions I might seek,

Often ignoring replies I don’t like.

Yet the past shows I’ll be left amenable and meek,

After every exciting journey and hike.

Just like the little mustard seed, I reckon,

How it made its way to the curry pot.

No matter how vigorously it beckons,

It will still be cooked together with the lot.

If the risk, in the 1st place, was not taken,

I’d still be tiny and minute, like a dot.

If my thoughts, in the 2nd place, was not shaken,

I’d be no better than a particle, born to rot.

I’m glad I have the chance to choose,

To be given this thing called free will.

But I think too much choice causes me to go loose,

As making the right decision takes more than just good skill.

All I can ask for right now

Is a little light to shine on the right way.

Don’t know when, don’t know how,

Just so I can last another day.

The head gently whispers one thing,

The heart tenderly murmurs another.

How can I not be painfully deciding?

When wrong choices would leave me to falter.

I might as well give up right now,

Throw in the towel and leave the arena.

Since the ending is already decided somehow,

And I’ve no control over the agenda.

Enough of these game, enough!

I’m tired of uncertainties and doubts,

Am not always strong and tough,

If I constantly have to defy and flout.

Just a small light please,

A tiny one will do.

I promise my complaints will cease,

And my grumbles will, too.

JsquareE

What are the odds of u having the same full name as another person who lives on the same floor as you in the same building?

How coincidental can u get that u can bump into ur sibling’s friend’s family in a Chinese restaurant in Adelaide whom u met back in msia?

How often wud u hv the chance to lie down in the middle of a super busy city square and eat mooncakes that cost ridiculously too much with people whom u trust the most?

Little kids walked pass, planes flew pass, esther enjoyed her egg yolk, james grew hungry, sarah smiled, jez liked her pink shoes. We had to find the best way to devide that mooncake evenly, and the best knife was esther's expired student card. then we flashed out our faces from our cards as well =p dunno y james' card has the green sticky on it. maybe cuz he's a mutant. can change colour when he's hungry.

We changed our hangout place to hongfat when it got dark, but we were chased to sit on the side bench instead. Then we moved to the front steps of Tabs, where the black dog usually sits. Dodgy places to hang out, but its who u’re with that matters.

We can’t choose how we want things to happen. But we can surely find a way to respond to it with the best attitude we’ve got.
