J.chan's anatomy

Things I found out today:

I’m a right hander, and I tried brushing my teeth with my left hand, and its soooo hard. Go try it, seriously, I didn’t know how retarded my left hand can be… well, not fully, but mostly. Also try dialling the house phone with left hand.
Ok, make it simple. Try switching the channels with ur left thumb. Not as fast as ur right eh? (that is, if u’re right handed)
Or maybe its jz me…

I watched “I not stupid too(2)” today and I cried like a baby. Usually I jz tear a little if the show that I’m watching is sad and all that. But this time, it’s as if it opened the flood gates of my crying self, and I jz sat there crying in front of the TV as if no one was watching. Well, memang there wasn’t anyone watching, thank goodness. But I just didn’t know that I can cry that badly over a show.
Maybe it was cuz of the reality of it, and the closeness of home that I felt thru the show. The hardships of kids under parents’ pressures.
The language they used and the kiasu culture.
I was also emotional when I watched “I not stupid”, but dunno y this time I blubbered like a small kid. And I did laugh so hard at a few scenes also… heheh… was really funny… the dad ordered ‘lame’ chop for dinner, to impress his teenage kid that he’s into the new ‘cool’ language.

And also, I downloaded msn live today. pretty cool functions they have. And I also got a little addicted to the graffiti game in yahoo… all thanks to tim =p its like I found an online picto charade game which I played in kate’s place with the girls from church till 3am on a Monday morning.

I watched Grey’s Anatomy today. Then I had this weird yet truthful conversation with mandy. She said Grey’s Anatomy is not as realistic as House. It’s like talking about their lives as doctors and not about the sickness. I agreed. Well, maybe it was jz the theme of today’s episode, but it’s rather true. It’s more like comparing Alley McBeal with The Practice in the court settings. I think that’s a nice comparison mark. Other than that, I also watched OC for once. I never had a chance to fully finish just one whole episode… yeah… sad case. Oh ya, and I watched Lost. True enuf… I got lost with it too. Mandy is all hyped up to watch 24. and I really wanna watch Prison Break. Well, all these are way much better than Big Brother (a lousy show copied by aus from USA, and now there’s a sex scandal going on in the house). The show was that bad, till the Australian president, Mr. Johnny, said it was a stupid show and channel 10 shud really take it down. I think its all part of the media/entertainment world. Put some good looking ppl in a house, rock up some juicy tittle-tattle, and there u go, a daily show for commoners who can bear the lameness.

Anywayz, I’m starting to enjoy my holidays. Lizzie is finally here in Adelaide! I’ll be bringing her and her family around tmr. Horny is happy till he can explode any moment. Mandy is having photography lessons for her elective course (how cool is that?!). my uncle is studying. I think he’s doing his phd or something… my aunt promised to teach me how to make tiramisu one day. And as for me, I’m finishing the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, starting to attend paradise church (neh… the one with guy Sebastian) and sleeping with my darling lately. And I enjoy it =)
btw, my darling = my ftec laptop.

How great is He? How great?

When things happen not according to my way,
And it’s the consequences I have to pay,
I just feel like curling up into a ball,
Then into His arms I want to fall.

Others will see the happy side of me,
But He understands more than what the naked eye can see.
They may demand me to fully play my part,
Yet all He does is patiently wait for my heart.

What more can I ask for? What more?
When I’ve a God who fills me to the core.
How less will I receive? How less?
The answer is never! And “you’ll always get the best”.

Sometimes His presence can be so tangible,
And His voice can be so loud, its un-sangka-rable,
His arms will swoop down at the right time to save me,
To save this sinful thing, so unworthy.

It’s so natural for me to keep running away,
To avoid the challenges, and keep going astray,
Yet He uses situations to call me back
So that I won’t be lost, let alone slack.

When can I be free? When can I?
Must I wait till the day I die?
Who will protect and hold me? Who will?
When I’m climbing the steep and risky hill.

Questions will come continuously
And there may be no end for this misery.
But it’s so obvious that the answers are there,
That my awesome God is always there to care.

winter wonder

“My tummy needs sushi more than my finger needs a ring, so sushi it shall be!”
–amanda wong, my lovely cousin sis.

Hahha, just something I find very interesting…. She would spend hours in diva (a jewellery shop along rundle mall) trying to pick the right earrings and rings. Then end up deciding to have sushi instead of buying the ring. Its amazing how girls’ brain works. And by that I cant say much about it… cuz I’m not too sure how they work…

Anywayz, this entry is not about girls’ mind, buts its gonna be about my 1st experience of winter.

The bad points:
- taking the clothes out to dry and taking them back is so hard! Its so cold and the clothes never seem to dry up… cold hands on wet clothes when the wind blows… wahhh…embrrrrracing arctic feel for awhile. Here is where the dryer will be the adored machine in the household.
- Getting up in the morning… its so nice n warm under the duck-down sheets… susah lah~
- Placing my warm butt on the icy cold toilet seat is always very irritating
- I have to keep my short pants and skirts up in the unreachable part of the wardrobe, cuz its sad to look at clothes that u cant wear now…
- U know the feeling of opening the fridge and there’s a slight cold breeze that hits ur face with a soft and gentle stroke? Well… that feeling has been to put to hold for 3 months. Now my whole earth IS the fridge! My aunt keeps the fruits outside, cuz no place in the fridge and the fruits will still stay so fresh. The fridge is kinda useless for now.
- Bad winter days can be really depressing cuz of the gloomy clouds.
- It gets dark at 4 or 5-ish every evening. And its like there’s no evening anymore!

The good points:
- dun have to use air-con in the car
- dun have to eat ice cream so fast, cuz it wont melt fast unless u’re beside the heater
- this is the most remarkable and the thing that I feel that its worth living thru winter for. It’s the fantastic setting of the sun in the short evenings. Its when I can see how God can amazingly make the colours purple and orange match. Sometimes its pink and yellow with a touch of orange. Sometimes its baby blue with a burgundy line right across the never ending sky. Its like… woah!!!!

So I wanna say… I really thank God for creating seasons. Seasons are cool. Sometimes a bit too cool till its icy cold. But still it gives me a slight glimpse of how heaven can be like when I see how great His creations are down here on earth.

this reminds me of...

It’s almost impossible to be left with literally NOTHING to do. At the midst of my empty scheduled week, I managed to do so many meaningful things. Which includes cleaning the whole house, rearranging my closet, watching all DVDs available in the house, finishing one season of FRIENDS, cooking up some weird but edible delicacies, reading up about HTML, bronchitis and strokes, and the whole book of Ecclesiastes(which isn’t very long), and going for walks that were one hour long, etc.

And not forgetting adding the links that I now have on my blog site. I took a crash course of HTML stuff from lizzie, hahah, n I managed to add those links to this site, woot~

It’s cool how HTML works. Go find out urself. My point is… I was a computer illiterate but now, I know some stuff wei, dun play play…. And this reminds me of PCK’s sars rap. Go check it out. I laughed so hard when I heard him combine ‘I’m a survivor’ with ‘ice ice baby’, and ‘can’t touch this’ into one song. Thankx horny, for telling me about it.

And btw, the link to cheesecake’s poems is cool. Go check out the poems he wrote. I met this poetic feller through BRATS, and I always enjoyed his work. It’s a classic.

So ppl, just a short reminder to encourage u that u can never be TOO bored to sit there and do nothing… This reminds me of this girl who reads blogs for hours till now she almost finished all my archives… geng….

movie freak

Dusts were flying around, the humming of the vacuum cleaning drowned the dance music from the little stereo on the freezer, and I was bz sneezing behind carpets and rugs.

This is my 3rd day in the house. Other then going out for walks in the park, up to the supermarket to buy groceries, and to aunty ivy’s house for dinner, I’ve been home for three whole days and will be home for another whole day tmr. How did I survive? I don’t know, it’s just amazing.

Lately I’ve been watching movies… at random, anything goes. I watched the 1st cd of Godfather- was not bad, only found out that the young guy was al pacino towards the end of the show.

I also watched Analyse This with al pacino in it! Was so funny when they did the scene of God father in this show… duane and I were laughing so hard…

Then I watched lemeny snicket’s a series of unfortunate events (or something like that) for the 2nd time! Still as good as the 1st time watching it. But the CD was abit cacat… it was boon pin’s. though he warned us about the scratch… we were just desperate.

Next was Be Cool. For the 2nd time… haih… didn’t wanna watch that show but cuz it was already in the player… no one wanted to move, so we (Mandy, Duane and I) just wanted it anyways)

I also watched Eurotrip! Hahah, lame show but it had the touch of reality to it… and the cool thing was… marcuz also watched that show (so coincidentally) and we both had the same impression of it, hahaha, not gonna say wat.

Oh yeah I also watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; and Hero. Been watching a lot of ziyi shows ever since duane pointed out that I do resemble some of her looks. And one thing I noticed from her shows… her characters are always the same. A strong minded woman, has a deep passion for something, loyal and speaks with actions. But the bad part is… she ALWAYS does stupid stuff for guys…. WHY?! ‘bai zai nan ren shou sang’ –fails in man’s hands- Oh ya, and she’s very good in dying also. Very good…

And not forgetting the lame-to-de-extreme Austin Powers! I can’t remember which one was it, but it was the one Dr Evil stole his mojo. Watched it with duane just to kill time.

I also watched Pride and Prejudice. I loooooove these kind of movies where they dress like that and have such visible cleavages. And the spoken English was marvellous, simply arrogant in its own humble way. We all melted when mr. Darcy expressed his love for Elizabeth.

Mr. Darcy: You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.

To match with that, I watched Amadeus. The life story of Mozart. Huwah! Chun man… ppl can actually be so crazy after music! Which reminds me of my cousin Joshua. He mite be coming over to aus to study music and forget about SPM!!! I really hope that plan works out for him.

Actually I did watch plenty of other shows but I cant really remember which ones… just to name a few: The Nugget (Australian film, hv to watch a trillion times for my assignment) , 40 days n 40 nights, house of the flying daggers, shrek 2(again), Rabbit proof fence, the gay Brokeback Mountain, the march of the penguins, all that jazz, V for vendetta, take the lead, wild wild west, the castle, looking for alibrandi, Gallipoli, muriel’s wedding, cracker jack, Pocahontas(again), my fair lady (*2 thumbs up*)… and more.. cant think anymore now…

Well, these are the days where u’d be counting down the hours for weekend to come. I’m not complaining, and never will want to. I just hope I can just do something more exciting than cleaning the house and cooking (well, at least I’m trying…)

Out of my comfort zone and into the frying pan

Today, I discovered something new about myself. I discovered that I will not be a good house wife.

-_-“ R u laughing? Eh dun la… I’m serious here…

The alarm clock went off at 9am. My eyes were closed tight but my mind was wildly thinking about the cool dream I had. Soon after the post-dream syndrome, I starred at the ceiling (which was not very far from me cuz I’m sleeping on the top bunk of the bed) and asked myself: which paragraph do I have to write today? How many more words to reach 2500? Which aspect do I have to expand on? …. Hey wait a sec. I dun have any other assignments to do anymore!!! Woohooo! LIBERTY! Uh huh ~ uh huh~ one two one two~ put chur hand in de air, laik u just don cair~ just loose it, ah ah ah ah ah !

After all that self-party, I went out to the pantry n found no breakfast to feed this hungry and crazy lady. So I put on a jacket, took my wallet n slipped in my running shoes n walked all the way out to the supermarket. No idea how far it is but yeap, I walked out into the street on a fine winter Saturday morning with my faithful mp3 baby.

I bought food and breakfast supply for the week under a super low budget. For those of u who still do not know… my aunt n uncle left Mandy and I here in Adelaide for 3 weeks, to survive this thing called independence. And Mandy is gonna sit for her exams next week, and I’m already free from assignments as expressed earlier on. So I gotta cook n do most of the things so that Mandy can focus on her studies. I’m not complaining cuz she has been cooking n for the past 2 weeks an all I did was eat up wat she cooked, heehee, n I’m super grateful for that =p hence now… its time to repay her by doing what I possibly can around the house. She even made brownies ydy while I was out! Yum~ thank God for Mandy’s itchy hands…

So today, I did the grocery, I cooked lunch, took the clothes out, cleaned the toilet and bathroom, cleaned the kitchen and I mite as well clean up the bedroom after this. Sounds like a house wife’s day rite? If I had to add in stuff like fetch the kids to and from skool, watch oprah winfrey after the afternoon news n tuck the kids into bed at nite. Well… to my future husband (whoever u r) I don’t like this house keeping thing, so let me go to work n get the cleaner lady to clean up the mess. This ain’t my cup of tea. However… I must admit, that cleaning n scrubbing really was a good work out. Hahah… I’m glad I get to achieve these tasks today.

While cleaning the toilet tiles, it reminded me of the story of Mary and Martha. Jesus visited the house of Mary and Martha one day, n one was so caught up with her work n she complained that her sis was not helping. Here’s the story [Luke 10:38-42]:

38. Now it came to pass, as they went, that he (Jesus) entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Sometimes we gotta know which is more important and be wise in our priorities. I’m not saying that I’m very wise, but I think what Jesus replied Martha was very chun. We may be so worried and get carried away with what we think is our main duty/ chore, and we may even think that accomplishing those duties will please God or please others around us. But we do not realized that Jesus wants us to choose “that good part, which shall not be taken away…”. Mary knew that the chances of Jesus going to her house was very slim, so she chose to sit at his feet when he came to visit, n not be doing the things she can do any other time. But Martha didn’t do that n wanted to show good hospitality to the honoured visitor. I’m sure Martha’s intention was good but she jz missed the point n went too far.

So I guess out of all the busy times we have, exams, assignments, serving in church, house chores, work etc., we gotta look beyond those n choose what’s good. Not to say drop all those work n do ntg but sit. But to just seek God at the midst of ur busy day and listen to wat He has to say. Just like Mandy, she’s a living testimony to this and I look up to her for that. Even though she has soooo much to study, I can see that she never skips her quiet-time every morning. She’ll get up so early and read the bible while I’m still in dreamland. I wish I cud hv such discipline to just sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to his word.

Barney and the Shmoo

We learn new things every single day, and here’s what I found out when doing my 2000word essay about rhetoric.

U remember our good friend, Barney? The purple dinosaur who hypnotized kids into singing that song of friendship.

Yeap, that dude…

Ok, now I found out that the meaning for the word ‘barney’ means noisy quarrel.
So that explains all the diverted versions of that friendship song…

Another thing I found out today… I told Mandy about the fallacy of Barney, n she told me she also just knew about another cartoon character that has a weird motive of living. The SHMOO!

read all about it, and find out more in wikipedia.

The Shmoo first appeared in the strip in August 1948. According to Shmoo legend, the lovable creature laid eggs, gave milk and died of sheer esctasy when looked at with hunger. The Shmoo loved to be eaten and tasted like any food desired. Anything that delighted people delighted a Shmoo. Fry a Shmoo and it came out chicken. Broil it and it came out steak. Shmoo eyes made terrific suspender buttons. The hide of the Shmoo if cut thin made fine leather and if cut thick made the best lumber. Shmoo whiskers made splendid toothpicks. The Shmoo satisfied all the world's wants. You could never run out of Shmoon (plural of Shmoo) because they multiplied at such an incredible rate. The Shmoo believed that the only way to happiness was to bring happiness to others. Li'l Abner discovered Shmoos when he ventured into the forbidden Valley of the Shmoon, against the frantic protestations of Ol' Man Mose. "Shmoos," he warned, "is the greatest menace to hoomanity th' world has evah known." "Thass becuz they is so bad, huh?" asked Li'l Abner. "No, stupid," answered Mose, hurling one of life's profoundest paradoxes at Li'l Abner. "It's because they're so good!"Ironically, the lovable and selfless Shmoos ultimately brought misery to humankind because people with a limitless supply of self-sacrificing Shmoos stopped working and society broke down. Seen at first as a boon to humankind, they were ultimately hunted down and exterminated to preserve the status quo. (Thought extinct after the 1948 adventure, one Shmoo always seemed to escape to Dogpatch's Valley of the Shmoon to form a new colony and a later plot revival by Capp). Licensed Shmoo merchandise became a huge phenomenon in the late '40s and early '50s, spawning a wide variety of dolls, toys, glasses, wallpaper, belts, books, jewelry, balloons, clocks, ashtrays, cannisters, salt & pepper shakers, dairy products, banks, belts and ear muffs. There was even an official Shmoo fishing lure! These are all highly collectible items today. <http://www.lil-abner.com/shmoo.html>

sorry i cant get the pic of shmoo into this post... blogger is being choosy these days... go to the site n see if u wanna eat that creature or not.

zhar dou

I know I should be doing my assignment and not blogging (like everyone else) but then I need a break after one whole day of sitting down in front of my laptop with the heater blowing directly at me and my supply of chocolates nicely sitting behind my laptop screen. (and yes it is still like this now, but the difference is that I’m TAKING A BREAK)

I was going thru lyrics of fall out boys (one of shua’s entry said it’s a nice song so I went n download) and yeap, it’s a classic. Nice but no idea what its talking about. And and… shua, this is the chorus lyrics to it:

We're going down, down in an earlier round
And Sugar, we're going down swinging
I'll be your number one with a bullet
A loaded gun complex, cock it and pull it

And also, I saw some very bizarre song titles by the fall out boys. Even the name of the group also like… “huh!?”. The other songs from the album “From Under The Cork Tree” are such as ‘Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued’ and ‘I've Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song)’ and ‘Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends’ and ‘I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me’ and ‘Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part To Save The Scene And Stop Going To Shows)’.

No kidding, those were the TITLES of the songs… very zhar dou….

Oh ya, another zhar dou thing I heard ydy. Was going home from OCF in Ming’s car. Went to McD’s drive thru for nuggets for Ruby, and Sam treated us with more nuggets. So when waiting for our turn, we had this weird conversation in the car.

Jez: eh, ydy mandy and I made our own pasta sauce. With no recipe ntg, we jz created one ourselves.

Mandy: yeah, we named it ala mandy~

huey chi: so if u cook up the cat, make it into stew, then we can call it ala cat (sounds like a la carte) [she was scratched by a fat cat in samuel’s hse b4]

Everyone: *laugh*

Samuel: well, I know how to make a special meal called ‘ala ding’

Everyone: *silence*

Jez: whats ala ding?

Samuel: heheh… neh, whatever u put in microwave is ala ding.

Ming: *sweat*

Everyone: *eats nuggets with bbq sause in silence*

If u don’t get the ala ding, go to the nearest microwave, put something in it, start it and wait for the sound. It should be a universal sound made my microwaves all around the world. Some may sound techy, but the classic ones are all the same.

Ok, I gotta get out of this room before I start counting the 5cent coins I’ve collected.

] Mozzie Magnet [

I think if u know me well enuf, u shud know that I’m pretty much of a mozzie magnet. Mozzie magnet meaning an attraction for the all time famous pest—mosquito!

I found out that new ‘mozzie magnet’ term ydy while watching a show called “what’s good for u” (I like the intro song where they go ‘did ur mama tell u wats good for u~’). Aussies call mozzies ‘mozzies’ cuz they practically add ‘ies’ behind most things… like… Woolworth > woollies; ugh boots > uggies; umbrella> brellie; Australia> aussie: jezamine > jezzie; etc.

Now the amazing fact about mozzie magnets is not cuz the blood is sweeter or that person did not bathe for a long time. But its cuz of a certain chemical that is released from the skin and also the reaction towards the mozzie bites.

I didn’t quite pay attention to the whole thing, but I know that some ppl produce a type of chemical which mozzies like, so they are more attracted to them. And also, some ppl are a little allergic to the saliva of the mozzie, so after the bite, there will be a red bulging patch on the skin. I used to spot the hidden mickey whenever I get SOME mozzie bites. So not every one will have little hernias on the surface of the skin every time a mozzie bites… only some ppl will have it so those who react that way will think that they hv been bitten more than the others but in actual fact its cuz they can visibly count the bites, and the other didn’t even know they’ve been bitten cuz tak ada reaction.

I remember the times when horny and I always study downstairs at block E. that’s like the mosquito haven man! Ppl study sitting down mah, rite? So the smart mozzies go have their feast while students try to rush for their last minute revision. I remember horny used to sit there to let the mozzie bite him so that they won’t come to me, hahaha, but didn’t work… all kena as many bites. Mosquito repellents were of good use, but they stink…

After staying in OZ for a few months now, I’ve only been bitten by mozzies once… I think its cuz mozzie breed faster in tropical countries and OZ is too dry for them blood suckers. Or maybe it’s because I don’t produce that sort of chemical anymore… or I’m not allergic to da saliva… dunno… I’m jz glad I’m not a mozzie magnet anymore!

the random trilogy

Ok, just a fast one.

Last last week, samuel called at 10pm, invited mandy and I to go out for ice-cream with Christina. We were a bit hesitant cuz it was freezing cold that nite and we were getting ready for bed d. but wat the heck, we jz went for it, n left the house in hour PJs, n house slippers (with socks). It was such a whacky idea but its fun to do such stuff once in a while. So Christina came with her old junky, n drove us to the nearest petrol station (BP) n we went in the kiosk for ice-creams, samuel’s treat, cuz it was his idea after all.
We ate our frozen sticks, out in the cold nite beside the petrol station. Reminded me very much of mamak times, but with much more heat… after that icy moment, we went back home in that junky, n stayed in there outside of the house for awhile just talking about random stuff. we took a pic with mandy’s new w800 sony ericson phone and it blinded us… so we decided to smile with eyes closed instead.

And here’s a pic of what I had for dinner when dai yee came back from Malaysia--
Home made steam boat!!!! So I had extra ‘gam zhang gu’ (if u know what that is) Dai yee actually brought back a steam boat pot thingy! And btw, she also brought back fat man’s noodles (fei lou min!!!) was surprised that the sniffer dogs didn’t bite off her whole luggage that contained the noodles.

Lastly, this was taken quite some time ago. It was an OCF outing for newbies, hosted by hui yin who’s already gone back to Malaysia. It was the start of autumn and the beach (Henley Beach) was so freakin cold! The weather wasn’t so good also, so we went into a café near the jetty for some hot drinks. More pix were taken but its still in ah boon’s camera… some ppl jz seem to b so bz they cant get simple things done such as upload pix for others… cis cis cis…
pic1, these were most of us who went that day.... and alot more taking pictures, hahah... the same amount of ppl taking pictures of the same amount of ppl posing.

my last piece of Tim Tam

My last piece of Tim Tam…
sat nicely in its place.
Waiting. Calling out my name.
Jezamine… Jezamine…
the chant gets louder each second.
Sombrely it waited for my touch.
For my mad addiction upon it to gentle removed it from the casing,
and lay it upon my tongue…
and allow the force of my teeth
gnaw on its luscious chocolate coating.

Pulling my hair, I sat on my usual Tim Tam seat
Starring at the brown box that rested on the cosmetic drawer.
The portraits of little Tim Tams on the box
Were as surreal and fake as those I enjoy in my dreams.
But the value of each modest piece of Tim Tams
Gives me pleasure and delight
Bite after bite.

This feeble willpower of mine
Looked like tofu under the attack of a chainsaw.
Finally giving in to the lure and enticement of my favourite delicacy
I embraced the last piece and said my farewells.
I placed it where it was longing to be at…
Nibbled, chewed, and sank it into my teeth.
My very last Tim Tam became an insignificant particle
Disappeared as I swallowed the crashed bits.

My last piece of Tim Tam,
Though so small, but great in its abilities.
It gave me a motivation and a hope to look forward to,
And erased all tangible calamities…

My last piece of Tim Tam…
Truly, it made my day~

something stupid

I just did a stupid thing today (not on purpose). I kinda miss doing stupid stuff, but those stupid stuff are classified under “doing stupid stuff intentionally with other ppl who can laugh about it with u” category.

So on this normal autumn’s day, I did my usual stuff… lazed around then headed for uni. I was somehow running late cuz I watched an extra episode of FRIENDS which was not as planned. So I rushed out, slipped on a pair of thongs (slippers /flip-flops) grabbed the jacket aunty ivy gave me and hurried to the bus stop.

Fortunately I didn’t miss the bus. Unfortunately, it was violently cold outside even though the sun was shinning. The jacket was good in keeping me warm but its not a wind breaker… so I turned to ice every time a breeze swept by.

And oh yeah… my feet… it like I wasn’t walking cuz I couldn’t feel my feet. I was jz moving but I didn’t know wat made me reposition myself forward… if one toe of mine fell off, I wouldn’t even notice…

Things didn’t go that bad once I went into the kaf (that’s how the uni spells cafeteria… and they call themselves a uni). No wind. Only the greasy smell from the chips.

After class, I had to catch a bus home, cuz dai yee’s not here to pick me up from uni… my friends n I were shivering at the bus stop, yet trying not to drop the boring conversation on our oral presentation. “winter’s not that bad actually. It only gets nasty when u’re caught by the rain, all drenched in rain water, and the wind blows directly at u… man… u’ll b freezing ur ballz off!” was what my OZ-born-hongkee friend said.

So at about 5.40pm, I reached bus stop 41. I quickened my pace to get home as fast as I cud, focusing my thoughts on ramli burger (someone reminded me of the existence of that high skool luxury- u know who u r). It was 10 degrees Celsius and the sun was no where to b seen then. Of all things… y did I slip on thongs?!?!? Sheesh!

Anyhow, many thanks goes to uncle Jason who bought a heater for Mandy and I. I guess its his fatherly instinct to get us one for our room cuz we’ve been going out to the lounge to stick close to the fire place (the heater runs on gas, not on coal) I should hv thought twice about me being a full-blooded Malaysian and cant tahan the cold much, so I shud wrap up more layers before setting my foot out from the house, but the heater jz took that thought away from me today….

Too many complains about Assign IT once again yo! I feel yo all, dawg! You ain't got no time tah shed tears and cry. Stop worrying about it and start chilling and stay calm. It is possible that the Assign IT is not YET activated, who knows!! While I'm doing ma enquiry, hand up the hard copy in the box and go home and chill with your homies.

Love but Not Bomb!
sulay

-end of email-

oh ya,btw, he worked in msia for a few years (Shell's PR department) and taught in HELP institute b4 coming here last year. he's from a small african country (i cant remember the name) and he grew up in USA.

now thats the ~cool~ tutor,
dats wat i'm tolkin bout... peace out broda!

warning: crappiest post (so far)

Now… ask me how does it feel to stay up late, cracking my head to write about rhetoric and reasoning in a uni’s computer lab with only 3 ppl left at 11.30pm Sunday nite?
It feels cool man!!! It’s like I’m a blady hard working student who has no life! Ohh, sorry for the word ‘blady’… its like an aussie slang that is so addictive… (they even had an ad controversy over it) I shall not say that again.
It is hard to speak in polite English when the 2 of my group mates (the 3 ppl left were me n 2 of my group mates) has this oz accent which also includes all the swearing n sh.. and stuff… but I’m trying… doing well too, hehhe.
So other than feeling holy, I feel like a hardworking ar… person tonite. I’ve never felt that way b4… cuz I’ve never took the initiative to be in campus at any freakin cold nite. If it wasn’t for this group assignment, I wouldn’t be reaching home at 1.30am and feeling proud I was actually in uni at nite!
Well, its now autumn and the max temp is 19c if we’re lucky… the lowest is 6c!!! no sh.. erm.. I’m serious! I miss my short pants… they r all nicely packed in my luggage bag together with my skirts…
Anywayz, not complaining yet… we’ll see how I survive in winter… nyahahaha, I’ll b like a round fur ball rolling around magill. My campus is comparatively colder than other campuses cuz there’s more trees there… too much oxygen till mankind can’t breathe! Hahah, nola… not that bad.
Notice I’m not making sense in wat I’m typing now…. Reason: I jz wanna combo marcuz while waiting for someone to come online. Well, not really la, I jz wanna combo marcuz. End of story….
If u’ve read this post up till this point… I respect… cuz if I were u I’d b moving my cursor to the red X button on the top rite corner after reading the 1st few lines… maybe even 1st few words…
Ok, time to end this crap. I blame this fully on the sweets I ate…
Oh ya, n I failed in submitting 4 posts in one go like some crazy dude who woke up early in the morning did.
So nitez peeps~ yaw(fades away)…

suicidal...

Riddle taken from OCF (Elaine tang)

There were 2 guys, both putus cinta, so they wanted to commit suicide. Both of them live in the same building/apartment/condominium/flat/etc.

Guy A lives on the 1st floor

Guy B lives on the 10th floor

So the time came n both of them jumped off from the floor that they each live in. what is the difference between these two cases?

Think harder….

Guys B { aaaaaaaaAAAAaaaaaAAAAAaaaHHH….. *bom!*}

Guy A { *bom!* ahhh}

That’s the difference….

story of a rat

Other than having to write about 9000+ words for all my assignments in total, and shivering in front of the laptop, I’m living a good life.

Today, I managed to have a brief chat with my ex-roomie, grace, and she just told me the most hilarious thing!!!

Now here’s a little back ground of the situation: after I left Inti last year, a girl from china took over my place in my inti hostel room, hence, being grace’s new roomie. I can tell that she wasn’t so excited about it cuz she shifted the beds apart (we used to have our beds placed next to each other). I met this china girl before… she looks sweet and courteous, but I dunno y she has some soft of way that she speaks that make u feel kinda manipulated… well, not that bad la… I dun mean to be so harsh but that’s jz how I feel.

So the story went like this: for a few weeks, china girl (cg) tells grace that there’s a rat in the room. Grace wasn’t convinced and didn’t really bothered much. Then for a few nites, cg woke grace up at 2am to tell her that she saw the rat again. Grace went back to sleep. “so...no issue lo.....two days later ...she woke me up with her shriek and screams...for about 3times in one night” quote msn msg.

So about two days ago she did the same thing, she jumped out of her bed in da middle of the night saying that there’s a rat under her bed. “then she bang her head on the table n was hospitalised for two days” I was like… omg… that’s…. weird…. “she was jumpin off her bed… so dunno how she jump la...then she hit her head on the wall then the table”. I just cant imagine how it’ll be if I’m in the room… grace said she just went back to sleep (the both of us r very good sleepers btw, hahaha)

Grace turned the room up-side-down and still couldn’t find any rat!!! Cg had her head wrapped up like a bun just because of her imagination/ hallucination. (there was no bleeding no ntg…) grace jz saw her rubbing her head after the fall when grace was half asleep…. Then she had her head wrapped up the following day.

Short story about a rat who annoyed a girl from china, yet explained by the Ipoh girl that made me laugh so hard (not proud of it… feeling bad that cg hurt herself…)

So ppl… if u think there’s rat in ur room… sleep on the floor so if u ever jump, u wont fall off ur bed n hit the table.

random blogging...its not illegal

“G’day, how’s it going?” is what u get when u reach a cash counter at a departmental store or boarding the bus. They ask u that, but dun bother with ur answer. That’s how things go. It fun learning all these OZ cultures.

They’re NEVER late for anything. Nor are they early. They’re jz there when the second hand reaches the time of appointment. They’re PUNCTUAL…. Never early, never late.

“wow, that’s heaps good!” putting u on top of the world but actually that’s just wat they say everytime u do something. Its not heaps good. Its just ok. But then they tend to exaggerate. “oh awesome! The show was fantastic! I reckon that was the best I’ve seen!” will be something said after a rather good show, but not super duper ‘geng’. For me, I’d stick to “ermmm, well, it was not bad…”

Actually, I kinda like their style. All easy going. Adelaide is the festival state. And they hv heaps of festivals thru out the year. My friend (a Chinese but born n grew up here) told me that yes there are tonnes of festivals, parades, carnivals all year round, but then if there’s none of those going on, the city is back to its normal self. lizzie... be prepared for the worst! (but then we've gone thru nilai.. hahah, how bad can it get?) He claimed that this is the worst state in Australia. I asked him wat about Tasmania, and he said “ohh… we sort of like eliminated that state, hahah, its just like a puny neighbour near us”. Poor tazzies…

And I’m so used to their accent now, I think I can speak like I was born here… however, I was corrected that day. By this lady who helps me in my assignments. She told me that it was obvious that I’m a foreigner cuz of the certain words that I say.

Economic – I say “ee-koh-noh-mik”; they say “eh-ka-noh-mik”
Advertisement—I say “at-va-tis-ment”; they say “ad-verr-tis-ment”
Maggie mee—I say “meh-gi-mee”; they say “meh-jee-noodles”

There are a lot more but I cant think of any rite now… anywayz, I’m enjoying the learning process. Its just funny sometimes I thought I was rite but turns out I’m the weird dude… but then again, its cultural.. just like dance [u can say daans, or u can say dens]

So yeah, I’ve not been blogging lately cuz I was bz doing ntg. Hahah… actually I’ve been bz with something, but I just dunno wat. Oh yeah! I’ve been reading…. Reading the stuff that is sort of like required for my course but no one does it… except for me. And I just read a cultural studies reading ydy, about weblogs of teenage girls. The author, Denise Sevick Bortree from USA ended her article, which titled “presentation of self on the Web: an ethnographic study of teenage girls’ weblogs” by commenting that “blogging about one’s life strikes me as narcissistic in the sense that these girls believe others will want to come to their site and read about their lives” (2005). She was sort of biased in her research but that’s her…

I dun hv much to say about it… cuz the range of research was from 14-18 year old girls, and I’m already proudly out of that scope, hahaha!

So anyways, I think blogging is fun. I can just write and not care if my points are scattered everywhere, or if my points are clearly argued. I dun hv to do in-text referencing. I can ignore fallacies. I dun hv to spell check, do word count, do the Harvard referencing, save, print, submit.

Thank you Lord for my mommy

Thank you Lord for mommy’s eyes
That sees beyond the line.
Eyes that are able to catch me by surprise,
And spots what I was intending to find.

Thank you Lord for mommy’s nose
That swells up red when she sneezes,
And when it starts running like a hose
I’ll get her some tissues—two pieces.

Thank you Lord for mommy’s mouth,
Which taught me how to speak.
And smiles at me whenever I pout,
That makes me feel soft and meek.

Thank you Lord for mommy’s shoulders,
That my head rested upon when I was a baby.
It’s so strong that it can hold boulders
Yet still makes her a beautiful lady.

Thank you Lord for mommy’s hands,
That caught me when I fell.
Though I’m now in a far away land,
I can still feel her supporting spell.

Thank you Lord for mommy’s legs,
That walked with me to the dentist’s room.
No matter how life gives me the kicks,
Those legs guide me out of doom.

Thank you Lord for mommy’s heart,
That beats to see her baby again.
Which will somehow be torn apart
If she sees her daughter be in pain.

Most of the time I’ll try not to cry,
Not because I’m no longer a kid.
But ‘cuz I know that before every tear of mine runs dry,
My mom sheds twice as much tears as I did.

competition

One fine day, there was a competition in heaven. Jesus as host had Satan invited up to heaven as his rival. The judge was God (and He promised to be fair in this case- as He always is). So the competition was this: to prove who the best IT man is in the entire universe and also in other realms. To do that, competitors had to come up with a super chunted programme or electronic document and God will see which one had the best features and all that techy stuff.
Time given: one day.

So that day, the competition started. Both Jesus and satan worked all day. They both came up with awesome ideas to please the judge.

Suddenly, just hours before the submission time, heaven had a blackout, cuz the worship ministry in the other room worshiped too much and the power system was over heated, blab la… so no electricity.

Hor hor… the blackout affected the techy computer lab, and satan became super mad! He argued that his work was interrupted and he demanded for an extension. Jesus was as cool as a cucumber (as he always is) and suavely handed his work to the judge. And satan had to do so, too, for the great techno judgement. And Jesus won!!!! (Obviously)

reason:

1.satan lost all his chunted documents and handed in a slip shot work.

2. JESUS SAVES!!!

If u dun understand this story…. Erm, go read ur bible.
It was told in ocf and I was the 1st to laugh cuz I got the joke 1st… wahhh, so malu-fying… but then again, it’s a good one.
I think I read it from those forwarded emails b4 but this time it sounded cooler, cuz I’ve been doing a lot of assignments lately and if u don’t keep saving ur work… u’ll kena one day!

All the best to students out there who need to keep saving~

the messed up ideology

I was just looking at michelle yew’s multiply pix… and I wish I had a camera… and I wish I could hv so much fun with that camera… hahah

Okok, back to serious business. Blogging has been unintentionally scrapped off my daily routine. Blame the great old I-hv-too-much-work-to-do-but-not-doing-it habit of mine =p nonetheless, I shall revive it! Though there’s ntg much to blog about, I shall say something quite profound yet blissfully unattended.

I was reading some of the course readings that day and I just realized that living creatures eat stuff that exist in their surroundings. Take for example, human beings eat veggies (plants), meat (animals), and marine stuff(by fishing)etc… other examples: lions eat animals that irritate them in their territory, birds eat worms that they can get below their claws/feet, bears find fresh water fish in their bathtub (river), and rabbits eat carrots that they dig out while digging for a hole for themselves.

Now the tricky part comes… since there’s a type of food for each living creature…lemme ask u wat’s the first food that comes in ur mind when I say the word ‘CAT’?

Am I getting ‘fish’ as an answer? Ok, now that’s hypothetically the usual response. But put more thought to it… cats live on land, mostly not near the beach or the river. So how did the fish flop its way up to the cats’ claws as they current natural feasts? Ahhhh…~ got me there too… maybe it’s the modern cats that only eat fish, cuz they come in cans and is easy to consume… or maybe from the tank where they find little glossy things moving under the aquarium lighting… so as modern ppl in this current era, we naturally place the creature called ‘cat’ as the modern cat. No such thing as wild cats that eat God-knows-what nowadays…

I think my thoughts now are getting abit messed up after the readings…

I need a life~

totally YPOUT!

Going to camps to me is as easy as 123. It’s something that I’m so used to and I’m never too scared to go to one. But this time, I had a bit of anxiety hovering in me. Maybe it was because it was my 1st camp in Australia, and also being the only Asian among 200 plus campers. To make thing easier, my mom said going to Australia will b like going for a camp, jus that this camp is for one whole year, that’s all, ntg big about it… and that made me see where I got my positive attitudes from, hhahah. So this camp, was like a camp in a camp (same concept as a dream in a dream)

Anyways, I just got back from a camp called YPOUT (pronounced as wipe out) held by LYSA- Lutheran youth South Australia. It was held at a lovely campsite, Tatachila (sounds like Tatar and chilli sauce) for 4 days. I went there without mandy! N I only knew 4 girls who go to the same church as I go to now. I knew them thru mandy, but not really close. I had to join as a leader cuz I’m a uni student and the camp is for young ppl in year 8-year 12. I grudgingly took up that challenge to lead, but it wasn’t so bad cuz they had workshops for leaders b4 the camp.
So the day came, and I took off in a merc, driven by my aunt. She sent me to church where I met the girls and we set off from church in 2 cars. I went in Kathryn’s car with Sarah, while Anneka went in Kate’s car. The weather was great and I stood there in awe when I placed my feet on the grounds of tatachilla.

After rego, I felt a little lost cuz I didn’t know wat to do then, to help campers unload or to unpack my stuff…. But it all went out fine when I braved myself to go talk to some campers. I didn’t wanna hang around with the girls cuz it wont look nice when leaders cluster together. The campsite was huge and some of us had to sleep up in the skool. It was a long walk up, and they had to use trucks to send our stuff up. I ended up sleeping in the corridor with Kathryn cuz the classrooms were all full. But we all didn’t complain cuz it was such a new experience. (was super cold in the morning cuz the heat weren’t trapped in doors)

The camp started off with worship which was held in doors. The setting of the stage was awesome. They had old TVs scattered around and the MCs were thoroughly hilarious! There were games were we had to throw cucumbers to the back of the line thru our legs, and chase after the other team’s celery, etc. it was cold and breezy, that’s y it made us run around more. Aussies are very sporty, seriously. I couldn’t find a single nerd, or anyone who stayed indoors all their life (well, maybe cuz I was out with them also, so I didn’t notice the indoor ones) but who would want to stay indoors with such good weather and cool air to breathe in?

Now, coming back indoors, the food they served was magnifico! I shall say no more with the pix I took of them. There were more but forgot to snap pix of it b4 eating it. There were pancakes, choc mousse, jello, pasta, toast, cakes, potato spuds, ham baguettes (I had 6 different types of hams in a baguette!!! Couldn’t close it) and I finished all my food! Every single time! Well, except for one time they made me laugh so much I was full laughing…. However, it made me miss Chinese food so much!=p

Next is worship. The band was great! Duane’s bro, sam, played the bass. Though I met him once but I didn’t go talk to him in camp… I loved the vocals of the female singers. They had such beautiful voices which brought me into the mood to really worship the King of all kings. The atmosphere was concert-like. though it wasn’t as ‘geng’ as planet shakers, but the ambience of worship was there. It was really Lutheran, I noticed. They didn’t speak in tongues but they weren’t against it. It was just great!

Because there were too many campers, we all had a chance to choose our own stream: leadership, evangelism, performance ministry or creative arts. All these streams guide young people in serving God in their own church, according to its own focus. So if u know me well enuf, u wud hv guessed I signed up for performance ministry. And in this ministry, we had a choice of choir, dance, clowning, sound and light crew, or drama. Surprise surprise, I went in drama! I learnt so many things from it!!!! We played a game called “thank God u’re here” and “what r u doing?” thank God u’re here was based on a show (something like who’s line is it anyway, but done by aussies) and it was so funny. We learnt how to apply drama in telling ppl about a certain biblical msg, how plots can b unique (don’t hv to start with normal bad kid, change to good kid, lives happily ever after), and we also learnt that audiences are not stupid. Elements that can make them think would b great in conveying a msg. we came up with a show that was performed on Sunday nite. It was great. The leader for drama was Brendan, the shortest ang mo I’ve met. I took the pic with him standing up, and that’s his height, no kidding! I really like the way he expresses things. Very nice guy.

Speaking of guys, there were heaps of good looking guys in camp, but they’re either taken or underaged. But then again I wasn’t intending to get my hands on one, just that I noticed that this guy (with his fly open) looks like ashton kutcher, and this guy looks like my old secondary skool friend- panda shang!

The speaker for the camp was Peter Riggs. His sermons were great, funny and direct to the point. If I blog about wat he said I don’t think I’ll b able to publish it cuz it’ll b too long. But I liked the part where we were given the opportunity to have our own quiet time. Everyone can go anywhere they want, just sit and stay calm for awhile. Talk to God, think, reflect, meditate… so I went to the field, where most of them were all scattered around. I lay on the ground and I had my head on the bible, and just talked to God.

I was thanking him for letting me lie on grass (cuz grass in msia not so nice unless it’s a golf course), thanking Him for letting me be amongst ppl who walk with God, and I was asking for something to comfort me for being so far from home, and also to renew my faith in Christ. As I was about to dose off, some girls walked pass me and I over heard this girl saying ‘I dunno y I’m saying this but God wants me to tell u Psalms 23…’ then my head popped up, and my fingers ran across my bible, flipping to Psalm 23.
The Psalm of David went like this:

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house f the Lord forever.

Now I’m so convinced that my God has whacky ways in telling me stuff. Isn’t that cool or what?! I almost jumped up and shout for joy. But I kept my cool, hahaha, too many ppl around then. I shared that with Kat, and she shared her breakthrough too. It was just amazing.

That’s not all. Later that nite, after the preaching, we had a chance to pray for each other, and the 5 of us girls just sat there n cried. We shared about our problems and hurts, and we all prayed for each other. And the best part was that I could see God answering my prayer that I’ve been praying for the past 2 months- to have close friends here in aus so I can share my feelings with. And God didn’t just give me one, He gave me 4!!! I was just overjoyed to see how God works. At the end of the camp, I got closer to the girls especially Kat cuz we both have funny ways in saying things, and she’s really good in changing her accent too! I know I’m very blessed all the time, but this time God’s love and grace was so evident and so tangible! That nite I just realized that no matter where I go, no matter how far I’m away from my life, God will always be there.

After all that, camp to me is still 123, even though it’s a camp in a camp. As an extrovert, camps are tools for me to discover my own strengths and weaknesses, and I’ve always benefited in every single camp. I wanna thank God for giving the idea to human beings to have events called ‘camps’! and also… just a random shout out: HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY JIA WEI!!!!
this was taken in the oval, strong masculine guys being cute with bubles! and this was taken when we were helping out in bring down the stage. me, luke, kate, and kathryn.

this was my group of year 9 girls!

jokers dwell among jokers

Here are some jokes I got from OCF and my aunt: (there are explanations after each answer cuz some ppl actually dun get the jokes…)

~What’s clear and smells like carrot?
*
*
*
*
*
A rabbit’s fart

Explanation: Rabbits eat carrots, so their farts smell like carrots.
…and farts are naturally clear… not toxicated colouring to it

~What will u find if u look up a clean nose?
*
*
*
*
*
Finger prints

Explanation: If ur nose is clean, means u dig it with ur fingers, so u’ll leave finger prints in ur nose

~Why is a mosquito better than a fly?
*
*
*
*
*
Because mosquitoes can fly but flies can’t mosquito!

No explanation. U gotta b lame to decipher this fast.

And here’s a good quote I find pretty convincing…. Got it from my cultural studies lecture.

“Do only those things you would feel comfortable explaining to a national TV audience.” (McElreath 1997:54)

=) have a great day peeps!

Food!!! Glorious food!!!

Lately I’ve been super blessed… with abundance of good food. Someone just told me today that I’m very very blessed to be living with my aunt when I’m so far from home. And there’s a plus to that, I have an aunt who cooks goooood food!!! Thank God for aunts!!!!
Anyways, I managed to learn how to cook and here’s wat I’ve learnt:
  • Apricot chicken- my aunt’s own recipe.
One fine day, she had too much apricot, dunno wat to do with it, so she baked drumsticks with dried apricot, together with her own grown herbs, cream, and miscellaneous thingies. Tasted magnifico!!!
  • Chinese Dumpling (ham look zhong)
As the festival approaches, it is a tradition to wrap that rice stuffing with some leaf and u ‘sap’ the whole bunch. So I took the chance to learn how to wrap it. It’s no easy job man!!! But I managed to wrap 3 successful dumplings! Woohooo! And it tasted great! My aunt also made some with nyonya fillings. Syok-a-lingam!
  • Lagsana- Garfield’s favourite food
We had a deal that mandy and I would cook at least once a week, so I chose to cook lagsana this week!!! Though I didn’t know how to make that but I just hantam!!! Hhaha, nola, with my aunt’s guidance, and lots and lots of help (actually she was practically doing most of it) I managed to bake one of the best lagsanas I’ve ever had! Well, that cuz I added heaps of mozzarella cheese =p
  • Scrambled eggs- the essentials of an English breakfast
Now now, dun look down on this simple dish. Its literally the best egg dish! Not wallet eggs (ho bau dan), not sunny side up (mata kerbau), not omelette (u know wat these are…), not flower eggs (those u get in soup), but its Dai Yee’s scrambled eggs! She makes it with milk, butter cubes, and cream!!! Cant tell u how… it’s her secret recipe which is not too secret anymore since I learnt it d.
  • Tau Fu Fah- the famous pasar malam dessert
Well, I didn’t learn how to make this, but Dai Yee’s Tau Fu Fah is really special. Its like jelly, but not entirely jelly. And there’s the sago! Another dessert. Tastes so good with gula melacca. Also nice with maple syrup. Basically, anything sweet is nice, heeeeee…
  • Hot Cross Buns- Easter bread
Ppl here only eat and make hot cross buns during Easter. Though my aunt didn’t bake these buns, but I got to have some pretty good ones… the prices of it is also quite high at this time of the year (it’s like moon cake during moon cake fest)
  • Char Xiu Bau- self explanatory
Eating it was wat I used to do, but I had a chance to make them!!! It was so much fun! I helped my aunt make the dough, put in the pork fillings, and steam it! I didn’t get to start from scratch to cook the fillings though… but I was involved in making the baus that tasted just like any other char xiu bau from the shops!

I think after 3 years of such exposure, I’ll graduate with a certificate from my aunt- an acceptable cook! From an amateur to a pro! Muahahha

V for ...?

V for vendetta, a vocabulary that’s somewhat vague and volatile. Some may vocalize the letter V with vociferous vitality as a vexation in the most vernacular way, but some may see vengeance, void, venom, or even verruca vested in the vitiated V.

Viva la V!!!!

Hahhaa, wat on earth did I say…? I’ve no idea… I just need someone to come tell me wat on earth happened in the show ‘V for vendetta’… I didn’t understand why and how the girl became who she was in the end. Why did Guy Fawkes want to kill the chancellor? And who was the other white haired guy? Who’s Gordon to Guy? Huh? Huh? Huh?

Overall, I like that show… its almost like the novel that I’m reading now. “Black” by Ted Dekker. About a virus that’ll mutate under immense heat that will wipe all man kind on the face of the earth, and this normal man had dreams about the future and was intended (so he claims) to stop the virus before it took over the world!!! *thunderous background and loud banging of the orchestra!!!* I would very much love to tell u the end of the story but I’ll be charged for plagiarism and also I’ve not reach the end yet…

I find some people are just born with creativity… they can come up with the worst idea and make it so popular and intriguingly indescribable that others will think its great! As what Guy Fawkes said in the show “what I have under this mask is not just flesh, but ideas! And ideas are bullet proof.” (Well, that’s not the exact words, but that’s what I got after watching it from my laptop) – And that’s y he didn’t die after being shot a million times… not until he kicked butt! To me, this show had a touch of Zoro, and a pinch of Phantom of the Opera, and a lot of Natalie Portman (she’s good, man…).

So yeah… good show it is. Watch it and ask questions… loads of them…

paper cut

One thing every (or most) students will experience is the encounter of the almighty paper-cut. The pen is mightier than a sword = the paper is mightier than a chainsaw. Hhaha, well, not exactly….

I dunno y I just have countless paper cuts these days, and it’s irritating me! The weather is getting cold, so we use hot water to wash hands n face, and when hot water touches the cuts, it hurts really badly. It’s like an ant that bites ur finger n it never lets go. It’s so annoying…

Furthermore, I had nasi lemak for dinner ydy! Haha, ntg to do with paper cut? It has ALL to do with paper cut… I ate it with my fingers to get the feel of eating nasi lemak in Malaysia. So when the rendang and curry had contact with my tiny wound, it didn’t let me enjoy my fattened rice as much as I shud.

Speaking of which, I have a small piece of rattan in my finger! I was taking the bamboo thingy (neh, those round thingies they use to steam char siew pau the old fashion way) from the top shelve, and I accidentally dropped it, n one small broken part of the bamboo thingy poked into my finger n now the remaining is left there… I can’t seem to get it out! Tweezers, nail clippers, scissors, char siew pau… all can’t work. (I tried to eat the pau to make myself happier and get my mind off the piece of foreign object in my flesh). Reminds me of the black thing that ended up in horny’s arm. Hahah, I wonder if its still there….

Well, just wanna wish all victims of paper cuts and things-get-stuck-in-their-flesh-incidents to smile n carry on with life!

did u know

For a few nites in a row, I’ve been sleeping at 2 or 3am in the morning just to do my assignments. And on Saturday nite, I stayed on till 6am to get one done!!! Cant believe I did that. Well, actually it was 5am, but we had day light saving so I had one hour extra! Heehee, God answered my prayer for giving me more than 24hours in a day!!!
Anywayz, enuf bout the dumb asses that spoiled my beauty sleeps, I shall blog bout stuff that I’ve missed. Thru out that whole week, I’ve learnt so many things n I regret not writing it down.
1. thru the research for my essay, I found out that Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is the name of a Welsh village!!! Aint that cool! I dun even know where welsh is!!!

2. one day I was having a coffee break with mandy and samuel in Gloria jeans, n we were talking bout our ex-es, then samuel told us his ex gfs’ names. It was stella and grace.
Not end of story yet.
Suddenly mandy burst out laughing, n I was like, wat has coffee done to this girl now??? Then she said grace is her mom’s name, and stella is my mom’s name!!! how cool is that?!

3. last Sunday I went for the nite service with mandy, n I met this guy who was like… perfect! Serious… good looking, friendly, talented (he played the drums and sang at the same time during the service!!!), perfect body, smart, kind… u name it! Oh ya, n he jz got married!!! He looks like Ken (Barbie’s man). I cant believe that there’s a ‘perfect’ man on earth!!!

4. for parties here in aus, it’s a custom to ask ur guests to bring food. N I went to this party where I had to bring my own meat for bbq. So I tot its like bring n share, so I brought sausages. Mana tau… u bring wat u wanna eat! So mandy n I ate the sausages we brought… something learnt….

Actually there’s more than this, but I think I wanna catch up on my sleep… I miss being lazy….
so... ~over & out~

Out from my mother’s love and care,
Feeling lost, lonely, empty and bare,
I battled across the ragging southern sea,
And grew to learn what’s expected of me.

New climates, currencies, cues, and cultures,
And fighting temptations and shopping lures,
I picked it up as fast as I could,
Please take down all the [sale] sign if you would.

Being thrown in this daunting varsity world,
It’s not fancy nail painting, or having my hair nicely curled,
I struggle to come up with the best essay,
Yet my lecturer tells of it as if it is sap sap sui.

I miss going to the movies, and mamak sessions,
And enjoy the excitement of being late for lessons,
I guess you’ll never know the true meaning of miss,
Until you step out from your zone of bliss.

Satisfied as I am, to have friends who love and care for me,
No matter who, or when, or where he or she may be.
Just being online to give me e-hugs and kisses,
Reminding me to ‘go back faster’ with uncountable misses.

I hope my stay in this foreign land,
Would go fine, and according to the way it is planned.
Thanks to the One who is the creator of all creation,
I can have the opportunity for a scholarly graduation.

-lesson learnt-

There’s always a first time to everything, n I had a lot of 1st times these days.

And since the experience is still fresh in my head, I shall delay no more.

I attended evening service this week cuz mandy was serving as keyboardist, and I followed her. So after service, we headed to a restaurant called Bo journo with duane(he so happen to come by so he stayed for the service and dinner too). So after dinner, he went his own way and we went our way. So as mandy was driving she accidentally miss a turn, n we got a little lost. Then after finding our sense of direction, we needed to like, make a u-turn to get back on track. So after the traffic light, she took a turn, n we went on happily, planing to watch some FRIENDS b4 bed.

Suddenly! I saw this car flashing at us from behind. I tot our back lights weren’t working or something, but then there were red and blue flashing lights also, and I went ‘oh shoot…’ I think that turn was a huge mistake. The cops were following close, but no siren… I asked mandy to pull aside anyhow. So she did, n a lady stepped out from the flashy car and the trembling mandy wined down the window. The 1st thing I saw was the gun nicely placed in the case, slung around her waist. Though she wasn’t in her uniform, it was obvious that she was a cop. She asked for license and stuff, then she got back to her male partner in the car. Though she was very nice and all, but we were so scared man!!! Praying so hard that its gonna b ok.

I was jz worried if they’d give us a fine. Then it’ll b tuff for us to fish up that money… mandy was jz scared that uncle Jason would chop her head off and put it in the beef stew for tmr’s dinner. All I cud do then was to say positive stuff to comfort her, but it wasn’t working.

Finally the lady came back n told us that the u-turn was illegal, so as I thought, and same goes to all other traffic lights. With or without a [no u-turn] sign, it is still NO U-TURN!!! And for crying out loud, y on earth are the police working on a Sunday evening where there’s the closing ceremony of the commonwealth games to watch tonite?!

Anywayz, God had mercy on us, she jz gave us a warning letter, and no fine (which she told us in the most as-a-matter-of-fact-way that it costs AD180++ for a ticket!!!!)
This totally killed the mood for everything…so no FRIENDS tonite.

It was indeed my 1st experience of being stopped by a police when I’m in a moving vehicle. I think mandy’s not gonna drive again in a long long time, and I’m gonna hv this phobia of u-turns again.

mobile phone, cell phone, hand phone, telepon bimbit

It was a normal morning, normal tute, class went on fine….until!!!

I realized I didn’t bring my hand phone to uni!!!! My world went topsy-turvy, I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t feel my feet! Why was the room getting smaller?! The sky is falling!

Hehhe, not that bad la, jz that I felt bare and stripped empty the whole day (well, not until I went back home and reunited with my mobile phone =)

Usually I seldom use my hp in uni, but today I needed to call my aunt to let her know I’ll b taking the bus home after class. And, borrowing a hp from my friend will not b of much use, cuz I cant remember any numbers except for my own! But then again, I may be forgetful, but I’m smart also, hehehe. I managed to get home in one piece.

Its hard to explain how badly I need my phone now, but my friend Terrence had put me in the test. He said he’d give me sweets, bak kut teh with tea and/or choc coated with white choc and mint fillings inside, to trade with me not having my hp for four days. My answer was still a no. cant la…I was hpless for more than 7 hours today, n I already felt lost. Four days is impossible.

Anywayz, I made a new friend today, called Cleo. She’s a full blood Greek but born in Australia and raised here. Chun eh? She’s so nice. Showed me some database stuff n we had lunch together. God really is a provider. Though I still dun have a close friend who I can always hang out with in uni, but I’m happy with what I hv now. Its starting to get better, now that I’m used to the super single lifestyle. Go places alone, minding my own business.

Well, I must say I’ve met more Asians here than ang mos. ‘met’ as in get to know, n ‘will really see u around next time’. Most ang mos are jz plain class mates. Ntg more than that. In one of my classes, I mix with 3 guys who r my team mates: the super tall Bernard, and car freaks Alan and Loc. They’re born in aus, but parents are from Asia. Then in another class, Linda is a pretty good companion, then there’s Cleo, and in my other classes, there’s Damien(msian), meiji, snowy, Tracy, Minnie (from hong kong), winnie(Korean), sze(from china), sullay(my lecturer from Africa, grew up in USA and worked in msia for shell and HELP), kat, sarah, jacqie(aussies). There’s more but I cant remember their names and I jz smile when I walk pass them.

And then, there’s OCF! Ppl like Jane, jade, boon pin, Ruby, Elaine, Christina, Christine, Ming n hui chi, Adrian, Eleanor and Melanie, Abel, Gillian, ayumi, hui yin…. And Samuel! The only magillian (other than me) from OCF. Magillian= students from magill campus.

And randomly, I’ve met Kok leong, Eemun (msians), Arriff, Surya (s’poreans), Fuji(Japanese! Doing a course on piloting!!!), from an international student thingy. Then I met Melissa ,Mark tan(terry berry’s friend), and melissa’s friends when I went to paradise church. A lot of them either from FGA or from subang/pj.

Lastly, Kate, Anaka, Will and Jackson are the few who I talked to in church. These are the true ang mos. Hehhe….

Look how God is blessing me with nice ppl to hang around with. I’m so grateful that I had this chance to know ppl from all around the globe. And I’m very sure that the list will be expanding day by day.

So now u see… I cant live without my hp, cuz it connects me with the ppl around me, and with those who is very very far from me. I miss all of u!!!!

zhang zi yi

A girl’s weakness—shopping.
In 2 days time, I bought 2 skirts and a nice white top. Dun ask me how much it cost me, cuz I can argue that its on pretty good sale.
Ntg much happened to me except for that this week… so boring hor? Well, actually its not that bad la, I had fun, jz not the kind of fun which I can put it in words.

I went to paradise church ydy. and no, i didnt see guy sebastian. I went to the one in the city. Guy sebastian goes to the main one which has like 2000 plus members. anywayz, on my way out to catch a bus, a branch hit my head, leaving a scratch above my eyebrow.... well, i was looking down, thinking of something, and walking quite fast cuz it was rather cold. suddenly, kpish! the branch came out from no where and the sharp parts jz went thru my skin. ouch! but it wasnt like i bang into a tiang cuz the branch was flexible also la. but still! hurt so bad. good thing it didnt go straight to my eye. u know sometimes its smaler cuts that hurt compared to huge wounds? yeah, its like that. so... lesson learnt-- dun ever look down when walking fast.

Oh ya, last Friday Duane told me I look like zi yi… I think so too! Hahaha, but still I’m special in my own ways n so is she. I jz watched house of flying daggers last nite. It was soooooo nice! I love the way they change the role of the characters in such a short time. Walau… both the guys fought from autumn to winter for ziyi…. Phuiyo…. Sumore she can faint for so long, n not die there. But it was good, super chun show.

Ok, back to the topic, other than Duane, a lot of the others told me I look like zhang ziyi too! Ok, lets see if I remember or not : Joshua hum, Duane, Tim, Tim’s cousin Jade, Joshua’s friends, my church (TMLC) pastor, my pastor’s friend, Jason lee(TMLC), uncle meng chee, Sandra, sandra’s friends, liz, joahua wong(I think), oh ya, and this website which links who u look like by configuring ur pic… n a lot more which I forgot… ehehhe

I love ziyi’s acting skills, especially showing the expression of torture, and being in love. She’s good. And she’s soooo lucky she get to act with takeshi! Anywayz, its an honour to look like the pretty superstar! Truly an honour!

barbi craze

One thing u must not do to me when I get back to msia: that is to take me to a bbq party or anything close to bbq. Thx

Its not that I dun like the bbq idea, its jz that aussies cant live without it and its eating me up. Well, not literally…I’m the one who’s eating bbq up, but the bbq practice is too much…. The gov here supports it too. Every single park here must have AT LEAST two bbq pits. And its those that runs with gas. Very seldom u get the charcoal thingy with metal bars on top of greasy stones. They have hot plates and grills… every house must have a bbq set, equipped with all types of chun skewers, scrapers, those long sharp forks, easy squeeze bbq sauce and meat!

So every outing, the 1st thing that comes in mind, is bbq. And they call it barbi.
“ei mate(oi dude), we got some free time to bucker off(very bored la), wat say u, we go get some bitches and some droughts(get babes and beers), and go chill at my crib for barbi(and come to my house for bbq).”

Well, its not making me sick yet. No cancer signs yet… but I hv a feeling I’m gonna barbi a lot this year, so no barbi for me pls… I need a break.
welcome to the world of carbon and oil!
thats the chun pit i was saying. i think there's a tong of gas underneath. "press button till light appears. heat will turn off automatically"

Techno Science Jargon

to all u science freaks out there, here's something u shud know before u bury ur head in ur omega encyclopedia.

Ratio of an igloo's circumference to its diameter: Eskimo Pi
2000 pounds of Chinese soup: Won ton
Time between slipping on a peel and smacking the pavement: 1 bananosecond
Weight an evangelist carries with God: 1 billigram
Half of a large intestine: 1 semicolon
1000 aches: 1 kilohurtz
Basic unit of laryngitis: 1 hoarsepower
1 million microphones: 1 megaphone
2000 mockingbirds: two kilomockingbirds (work on it....)
52 cards: 1 decacards
3 statute miles of intravenous surgical tubing at Yale University Hospital: 1 I.V. League
--------------------------------------
Well spotted correction sent in from Ianman:
>1 million microphones: 1 megaphone
Actually, 1 million microphones = 1 phone. 1 million phones = 1 megaphone. 1000 microphones = 1 milliphone. 1000 milliphones = 1 phone. 1000 phones = 1 kilophone. 1000 kilophone = 1 megaphone. 1000 x 1000 x 1000 x 1000 = 1 (American) trillion. Therefore 1 million million (American trillion) microphones = 1 megaphone

now it all makes sense rite?

output

One week passed super fast. 2 weeks of uni gone. Now I’m used to walking around alone, having a sandwich and an apple for lunch, sleeping in the library, and waiting for the bus stop with the very big earphone in my ears. (oh ya btw, thx shua for the earphone, I think my ears are getting bigger for it, and its working fine, like got dynamic bass boost, jz that when the wind blows, I can hear the “fwoop fwoop” sound synchronizing with the music)

Since I’ve no output in the college, I allow things to go in my brain. I observe, think and analyse a lot. I can’t help but compare things. Its kinda getting out of hand, but I’ll be sick of this soon, and there wont b any ‘oh, u don’t get this in msia’ or ‘ msians wont do this… no way..’ kinda thing.
B4 the skill of comparison fades away, I better do wat I hv to do: hv some output done.

Magill is the most beautiful campus in South Australia, I dare say. Creeks, no high rise buildings(highest floor is the 4th floor with the 1st floor built slightly below the ground, hahah), chun class rooms, classy auditoriums, swimming pool, gymnasium, IBM computers everywhere, reading space under trees, bar, cafeteria, toilet papers in every single toilet cubicle, student’s kitchen with fridge and microwave oven… the list goes on. It’s not in the city, so the life style here is rather slow and calm. A lot of girls, very few boys (boohhooo).

Now, aussie fashion for most female youths: lalat sun glasses, very fair skin with heavy eye make-up, broad shoulders filled with freckles, tank top(tube), ultra short denim skirts, two bags (dun ask me why), lighted cigarette in between fingers, a bottle of coke on the other hand, and flip-flops (thongs, slippers). And I find it amusing how they fit themselves in that tank top, still having the ability to breath. They usually are bigger and the portion spreads out to every direction of the feminine body parts (ifuknowwatimean…). No offence to anyone, as I’m pretty jakun, coming all the way from a place where they name their clothes after a cage, and cheer leaders dun look like cheerleaders….

Fashion for guys: 1- polo tshirt with collar folded up, cool shades, 3quarter khaki pants, guy slippers, and a hot chick by the side.
2- round neck tshirt, surfer’s pants, flip-flops with coke in hand. (I dunno y but most guys here are rather fit and built up)

Hahha, I think I’m going too far…. Well, it’s not like that actually. Ppl here are very individual, jz that that’s the basic thing u can easily spot on ppl in the streets.

Oh ya, one thing I noticed too. The auto doors in campus can’t detect me…. I’ve to move back abit, look up at the black thingy, then only the door opens… cis cis…

Well, that’s about it… no more comparing. Learn to accept and live with it.
I love Australia!!!
