Hi convy committee 06,
Not sure if u guys remember me or not but I’m one of the 3 girls who had to rush to the train station to catch our flight on the last day of convention. This is just something that I wanna share with u cuz 3 of us really saw how God was with us the whole day (well, not saying that other times He’s not there la, but on that day it was super real).
When the transport guy asked who had to board the plane after 6pm I put my hands up and waited for instructions. I didn’t know that I might not be able to catch my 6.30pm flight if I took the coach. Then he said to go get our bags and be in front of the dinning hall in 15 minutes time. I choked in my lunch and made my newly met friends write down their contacts in sonic speed then sped off for my luggage.
30 minutes went past and the 3 of us waited outside with the flies and all. No sign of the guy who was supposed to send us to the city (the guy who wore the shirt that said “stroke my ego”). So Laza (OCF Unisa president) found lee yoong (convy camp comander) and the frantic transport guy then everyone concluded that we had to get on the train that goes to the city then find our way to the airport.
We threw our bags in the boot of Laza’s car, and he sped off to the station. I felt super dizzy and sick as I still could feel my choked-down-lunch starting to make its way upwards.
Not a good sign.
Road sign: 80km/h, Laza’s car speed meter: 120km/h and increasing.
Not a good sign either.
The winding roads made it worst and I could barely read the concerned SMSes from other OCFers who witnessed our “graceful” departure.
Soon the torture ended. “I need to puke”, I said to Esther as Laza and Li Wen got out of the car. I saw the car door, I pulled it. I saw the road. I puked on it. Esther freaked (as if the trauma wasn’t enough). Before I knew it, I saw Laza flying into the station with my luggage and Esther’s, followed by Li Wen and the very confused Esther. I followed. Before reaching this station, Laza said we were 2 minutes late so if the train is on time we won’t make it. And the train was exactly 2 minutes late. I ran towards the train, no time to say bye and thanks to Laza. The auto door closed right behind me. It was THAT close.
I think it took us about 2 hours to get to the city, and then with instructions, we got down at the last stop and stood there at the station starring at each other. That was a funny sight. Li Wen went to the info board, pointed at the info counter sign and the toilet sign. Good choice.
Soon, we made our way to the toilet, and the info counter, still not knowing if we can make it in time to the airport or not. At that moment, we spotted a camper! Willy from Indon (can’t remember which Uni). Apparently he left with Ganni and with 3 other unknown campers and that 3 spaces were supposed to be for us girls (I think). He then showed us where to get to the Sky bus, we bought our tickets AND!!!! The bus came at the very moment the ticket fell in my hands. If we didn’t bump into Willy, and if we took a little longer in the toilet, we definitely would have missed this bus.
We got off the bus and went to the check-in counter at the airport. The officials said we had to get our check-in slip from the machines before lining up at the counter. But we didn’t print out our flight details. But thank God after a few phone calls, we got our details, printed the slip and then!!! We saw 2 girls from camp! And guess what…. They took the coach from the campsite directly to the airport!!! That could be the three of us! Saving us a lot more money and also getting to fellowship with others in the bus without having to puke and rush!
But anyhow, I don’t know why at that point, I was not angry at all. In fact, I was glad and relieved. Not only because we made it to the airport on time, but we also saw the amazing hands of God allocating public transports at the right time. I was so proud that I got to land my bum on a car, a train, a bus and a plane seat in less than 4 hours time. It was amazing. And also at that time, I just recalled the prodigal son’s story part 2, that when we see others being blessed, we shouldn’t be jealous and get angry. Because we’re actually being blessed all along!
There were so many things I learnt from convention, but I don’t think I can put it in words. This is just a small testimony to share with u all, as God’s name deserves all the glory and praise!
Thanks once again for serving God and making convention 06 possible. And sorry u had to read this long message… I can’t tahan la… must tell u in details =p
In Christ,
Jezamine

A communicator's communication
Different families will have different ways in communicating with each member. In some cases, it gets a little wacky. As for my mom, she tells me things through newspaper articles. Yeap… readings u get from the daily newspaper…
Being a loyal newspaper reader, my mom would go though the daily tabloid, without fail, during the wee hours of the day when everything else is practically dead. Sometimes she gets a little edgy if she didn’t consume her “daily dosage” of information.
So with that habit of hers, she’d cut out articles that interest her, files them up or sticks them in her scrap book. And for certain articles that would have a hidden message within it, she would cut it out and get me to read them the next day.
I remember once I was being stopped by both my parents from getting into a relationship, and she then gave me a few articles about relationships and even cuttings from Big Bro. She didn’t have to verbally tell me. I was warned through the writings of others which are being circulated nationwide.
Studying away from home allowed me to come back to a whole stack of newspaper cuttings she collected throughout the year. Articles ranging from interviews of famous Malaysian icons to “How to win in a singing competition”.
After reading each article, I’d hv to guess “what exactly r u trying to tell me this time, mom?”
I used to get paranoid with this form of communication between my mom and I. “Why cant u be a little normal and just tell me straight so I don’t hv to go around guessing”
But now, I could see that some things are better left unsaid—and better just being read and understood. Sometimes its also not easy bringing up a topic that is not worth discussing because it could make the whole situation even weirder and much worse. Plus, we still are not adaptable to the culture of just blurting out whatever we feel about something and expect the discussion to solve every equation. After all, we’re Asian—if you know wat I mean.
So in conclusion, my mom has a very unique and smart way in telling me things. Now I just gotta find a way to respond to her messages so that it could be a successful form of communication.

Cam cam cam cambodia
“Why Cambodia?!” others will ask when I tell them that I went to Siem Reap, Cambodia for a family trip.
I think it was cuz of the cheap Air Asia fair that my dad booked. And also cuz we’ve not been there b4. My dad went there in 1993 and it was super different then.
It was jz 2 days after I came back from Australia. Still trying very hard to adjust myself to the humidity, I had to bear with the extra heat and dust in Siem Reap. I was suffering….
As I was saying that the air ticket was the cheap one, we had to rush for good seats in the plane. I forgot that I’m back in a country that is soaked in Kiasu-ism. They were supposed to let the families with kids and senior citizens to board the plane 1st… but once the gates of hell was open, the middle aged dudes ran out of that low cost terminal, pass those families and straight pass the air stewardess with the nice bum (which I think my dad was also looking at =p). that was so scary… the uncle ran like there’s no tmr.
In the plane, the voice from speaker said “your life jacket is allocated below your seats…” and I saw my life jacket in the front pocket leh!!! Lagi scary! Dunno if it still works or not. The plane was small so we cud actually see the cockpit when they opened the cockpit door. And then I saw that the pilot with spex (?!?!) shrugged at the co-pilot. Wah, panic la… hahah, sorry la, this was my 1st experience on a low cost plane… plus! A fly came onboard too… my mom said it’ll faint b4 we reach Siem Reap. And she was right…
The airport was nice. Very grand and luxurious. But when we got out… the streets were dusty, people were in torn clothes, old motorbikes, sweaty and hungry looking… huge contrast.
Our tour guide, Mr. Seng DaLing thought us some Cambodian language. Soosday (Hello). SohSohBai (How r u?). Oh Koon (Thank you). We also had a driver, Mr. Pain. He spoke mandarin, but seldom spoke la. Mr. DaLing’s said that when he was young, they taught them how to hate and curse the king. (!??!!) and the current king is also not liked by the citizens… he fled the country when it was attacked. And came back with bad leadership skills also. So too bad.
But he’s a karaoke king! He sings on national tv and tells ppl he likes to “cheong K”. This corrupted country has a karaoke king! When I turned on the TV, channel 1 and 2 were channels just for karaoke. Seriously… Cambodian songs… and the MTV also made locally. Wah, super funny…
Anywayz, we visited heaps of temples. And these temples are ancient stone ones that look alike. Except for the one built by women. Banti Srey (Women’s Citidel). Chun man…. It was made with pink sandstones and pink sandstones are very rare in Cambodia! Girl power! The carvings were so intricate. It was built only by women, and the men stayed home to jaga anak.
We also went to the temple which they filmed Tomb Raider in. we stood on the spot where Angelina Jolie stood. We jz needed guns, tight leather pants and big boobs… the temple was called Ta Prohm which means Jungle temple cuz the temple is now covered and almost destroyed by roots of trees. Mother Nature claims the land. This temple was built for the king’s mother.
We went to Angkor Thom (the Great City). Entered Bayon through Tun Lay Ohm (South Gate), PrĂ© Rup (change body), Preah Ko (Sacred Ox), Bakong… oh ya! And the highlight!!! Angkor Wat.
They said its one of the 7 man made wonders of the world. I checked online and it wasn’t… =( so disappointing. But jz to make myself feel better… I’VE BEEN TO ONE OF THE 7 WONDERS OF THE WORLD!!! WOOT~
It wasn’t very different from the other temples. This was jz very much bigger and higher, and wider and has more tourists. The challenging part was to climb up the steep steps to the peak, which only my dad and I took up the challenge. Not forgetting that I’m scared of heights… I kept my eyes on the peak and never looked back. The other challenge was to come down! Hahah, but it was fun. Dad and I did some camwhoring up there.
The carvings on the walls very very cool. Imagine reading stories from walls, not from books. And there are always these drawings of the Apsara dancers. It’s the ancient dance which we saw in one of the restaurants. Not much different from the Thai dance, but this one looks more like the movements of a pigeon…
Back to the carvings, our guide showed us 2 very funny carvings. One was the apsara dancer smiling with her teeth showing. And another was the apsara dancer sticking her tongue out. Joker la those carvers.
And u know what… for 4 days we were using a stolen vehicle! Apparently, 70% of the vehicles on the roads are stolen. No number plates… some were left hand drive, some right hand. Memang tak ada system. I only managed to spot 2 traffic lights, and the motorbikes were like flies on cow dung! 4 adults on one motorbike…. Geng… We didn’t know how to cross the road… and there’s no age limit for driving. This 13 year-old minister’s son drove a Lexus. How unfair!!!
Another important pointer… one must always remember that one is not in Korea but in Cambodia. The place was infested with Korean tourist. So much so that they had Korean restaurants and hotels just for them. When we were in Tonle Sap, they had floating karaoke parlours for Koreans. Another cool thing was the Korean church which was also floating.
Overall, I had fun. Just because I went with my family. My dad said the money was well spent, cuz all four of us got to spend time together. We had to motivate Charmaine to keep walking cuz it was quite boring for her… temple after temple. We had to tahan mom’s bragging about buying souvenirs. We had to laugh at dad’s lame jokes. I love them heaps (not the jokes… I love my family).
Once at lunch time we had coconut ice-cream and coffee. Dad was too lazy to get milk and sugar for his coffee, so he put coconut ice-cream in his coffee, and said it tasted good… so that’s where I got the trait of mixing my food up…
This non-luxurious trip made me appreciate the stuff we often take for granted. And I also felt for the kids who have to beg to have a meal for their families. A speaker from convention 06 said “Lord, break my heart with the things that break Yours”. Really, my heart broke when I saw this little boy with nothing but a torn tshirt, asking for money beside his weak grandmother. I can’t give him anything cuz if I do, the other will swamp over me. All I could do was to pray that this country will be given justice and peace one day.

The dead birdS
reason for seasons
Having experienced a bit of all four seasons, I can finally say I’ve been to Australia. The locals say this year’s weather is kinda crazy, so whatever I’ve experienced was a hoax. Yet I’m determined to tell others that “I’ve encountered all fours”. Winter made Adelaide dead-er than ever. Good thing there’s no snow or else I think I’d fall into depression mode and kill myself with icicles. The cold morning I had to fight to get to uni was bad. The late buses weren’t helping and it was worst when I had to pee. But it was fun being all warm and cuddly indoors around the heater/fire place. And when u go out of a building u breathe like a dragon with smoke coming out of ur nostrils. Heaters became my best friend and sleeping with my hot darling (my laptop) kept me warm all night. Spring wasn’t really as bouncy as I thought it would be. It was still icy cold at night and sizzling hot at noon. The mix of winter and summer made ppl fall sick and hay fever was so common, Subway staff were falling sick and I had to fill in their shifts (but usually I’ll make up excuses and say I cant make it =p). Flowers began to bloom and trees had its glow again! The rain was supposed to fall in winter but it was late this year and it came in spring. The smell of rain and the damp feeling made me feel home sick. But the trauma of bird attack still remains as my worse spring experience. Summer is a bummer if u hate the heat. If u think the heat in msia is agonizing, u’re wrong. At least u get to sweat and make things equal. Over here… u can only cry in pain when u walk under direct sunlight for a period of time. Its quite disturbing knowing that u wont realize that u’re being char-grilled by the UV rays cuz of the cold breeze. Yet, the good part is that u can see more hot chicks on the streets as they wear minimal clothing and chunky dudes staying ventilated. Autumn was like the cooler part of summer, balding the trees and dirtying the streets. I didn’t really pay attention to how autumn was like cuz I was busy preparing myself for winter (which wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be). But the skies were always so beautiful and the sunsets can make u tear. Actually, come to think of it, the sky is always pretty in every season. Sometimes it’s spilled with pinkish orange with roaming cream clouds. Sometimes it’ll be purple and yellow with a hint of turquoise. A fashion faux pas but it’s an awesome sky-sight if u ask me. I really like the idea of changing seasons. It took me 18 long years to adapt to a year long summer and now I’m starting to like the changing experience.

Independence Day
As most of u would hv known by now…. being independent is not as easy as it seems. But there’s something harder than that—it’s to PROVE that u’re CAPABLE of being INDEPENDENT that’s hard. Well, for all I can remember, I’ve been trying to do the hard part all along, and I never seem to be getting anywhere. Its like going round and round… [ring around a roses….] I’ve been a good girl, a good daughter [never fought back at parents], a good student [didn’t throw the exercise book back at my teacher], a good sister [gave her my old clothes], a good friend [forgave a friend for not sending me off], a good niece [sang loudly only in the shower and when I’m home alone], a good employee [didn’t stick my hand in the oven and sue the company for making me lose a limb] …. All is good But all those stuff just won’t establish the fact that I’m old enuf to take care of myself. Maybe I’m not. But if I’m not given the chance to try, how would I know? Aneewayzzzz, my point is…I wanna go to the deep end of the pool. Where most people my age are at. I know I will be complaining how hard it is to paddle at the deep end, but at least I’m where I’m supposed to be. But I shouldn’t complain… its cool to swim around with floats =) I wanted to move out. I wanted to smell the hard side of life (the real way), and I needed to stay nearer to civilization. I also wanted more freedom and hv control of my actions more. Not forgetting some privacy. And to be treated like a young lady who is responsible for her own troubles. I know how to wash plates and I am not hiding myself in my room aimlessly surfing the net!!! [the list goes on]I have a life. But a very controlled life…. So I thought moving out was my solution. But guess what… that’s controlled too! So heck with it… I’m gonna be satisfied with my shallow end of the pool. Enjoy luxurious home cooked meals, smile at more sarcastic naggings, and spend precious time with good old Adelaide metro busses (not so good sometimes). It’ll do me good… eat like a fat pig and be pampered. At least for jz one more year. Independence Day will come.

the story of Dude
This dude had a girlfriend called Loraine. They went out for a couple of years and one sinful day, he met this girl with the name Clearly. Clearly is a very sweet and gentle girl. Totally opposite of Loraine. That’s y Dude suddenly had the strong feelings for Clearly. But as u know… guys who gets caught with having an affair will end up pretty much dead. And that was what happened. With her razor sharp woman senses, Loraine knew something fishy was going on in Dude’s puny mind. So she tracked down his thoughts, and found out about little miss Clearly. Being outraged and fiery, Loraine burst into tears and fought with Dude and threatened to kill herself if he still has the intention to even THINK about Clearly. Ending up by the lake near Dude’s house, their heated argument still didn’t cool down. Suddenly! (as all you potential directors mite aspect) Loraine tripped and fell into the black lake, which swallowed her like a … like a… like a calm lake sucking in an angry girl who found out her boyfriend sucks at keeping secrets. After that catastrophe, Dude starred into the lake for awhile, then skipped away, back to his home singing: “I can see Clearly now, Loraine is gone~”

attack of THE BIRD
It was a fine and sunny afternoon, and I was walking back home from the bus stop, singing my song, and thinking of what to do when I get home.
I had to cross this road and this boy was on the other side of the road. So as I was crossing, this boy suddenly dashed in front of me, to get to the lane I was walking on. I was like… what the..?
So, anyways, I continued humming my song once I successfully crossed the road. I continued walking when ALL OF A SUDDEN!!!
THIS SMALL BLACK OBJECT WAS COMING TOWARDS ME IN HIGH SPEED (at eye level). (notice the capital letters… it means I’m actually screaming if I were telling u this, in person).
It was a little black bird with a stroke of white feathers under its wings. I had no idea why it was flying so low, and why it was flying towards a moving human being. Just before that creature could hit me on my face, I managed to duck down to let it fly just inches away from my head. (it reminded me of my Frisbee experience in Inti when I almost got killed by a flying plate in the dark, but thanks to my not-too-slow reactions, I’m still alive and typing this out)
My heart began to beat a few thousand times faster than the usual, and I began to walk faster, forgetting about the song. “so this was why the boy dash in front of me… he was the bird’s (unsuccessful) victim…”
I turned back to check if I’m clear from 2nd strike or not. And I saw this same bird perched on a fence, killing me with its violent stare. My pace tried to race up with my heartbeat.
The image of that flash is still so vivid in my mind right now. Ok, I’ll draw it out…
The stare was as sharp as its beak, which was pointed right at me. The aerodynamic shape of that bird made that image look like a round ball with a shiny point in the middle and two black dots above that shiny point.
AND THEN THAT THING STARTED TO CHARGE DIRECTLY AT ME AGAIN!!!!
The 1st thing that was in my mind: “did I leave any leftovers from my sandwich that I had for lunch in my hair or something?!?!?”
I plunged again to avoid the mad thing and did not dare look back at the charging bird. I walked quickly back home, traumatised by this attack.
I’m really freaked out right now… why do aussie birds do dumb things like attack humans, or fly low so that they get hit by busses?!?! Mandy said she was attacked by birds TWICE when she was doing her delivery job. But the birds that attacked her were magpies… apparently they do attack humans during spring/summer, don’t know the reason. But for my case… it wasn’t a magpie… it was a smaller bird… Could be a magpie-wannabe…
Anyways, so far I’ve not heard of any news about civilians dying after attacked by a bird. But I’ve seen shows that the birds attack ppl… its called:

I’m really freaked out right now… why do aussie birds do dumb things like attack humans, or fly low so that they get hit by busses?!?! Mandy said she was attacked by birds TWICE when she was doing her delivery job. But the birds that attacked her were magpies… apparently they do attack humans during spring/summer, don’t know the reason. But for my case… it wasn’t a magpie… it was a smaller bird… Could be a magpie-wannabe…
Anyways, so far I’ve not heard of any news about civilians dying after attacked by a bird. But I’ve seen shows that the birds attack ppl… its called:

subway rap
Yoyo, cum’on rap w’me
*disk screech*
A few months ago I felt broke,
So I flipped the papers for a look.
Got to an interview where they asked if I can cook,
I said ‘I dunno what do with a fish after it detaches from the hook’.
Surprisingly I got the job,
No more time to be a blob.
I had to serve, bake, clean and chop,
Schedules filled up to the top.
So I worked hard at Subway©,
Till this very day.
But I just thought “hey…
Working here is pretty gay” [translation: tough job]
I had to go to work in the cold morning with a jacket,
But it’s so hot there my contact lens melts in my eye socket,
Even my muesli bar dissolves in its packet.
And I pray each day that I will make it.
I had to memorize what’s in a melt, fillet, and club,
I need to soak my feet in a hot tub,
Sometimes they need a little rub.
That’s the consequence of working at the way of the sub.
*music fades*

Giving up on what I’ve been trying so hard to achieve – easy. Submitting to my pride and the fact that I can’t achieve it on my own—difficult. Surrendering what I want to achieve to the One who is larger than life—relief. Suddenly it just came to me that if I don’t start on my assignments by now, I’d be a dead bacon by the end of November. So I gotta start on them now. Its time to surrender! And let Him take charge All the best to those who hv exams to sit for or assignments to slave away for! I’ll be back after I fight this battle. astalavista baybeh~

Supercalifrajalisticexpialidocious
Today….
I glued my fingers together…. Unintentionally of course…
Darn super glue… a blessing and a curse in the world of wonderful inventions
Today…
I played with a kid named Xenetia. Cute little girl. Brunei-ian mom and aussie dad. Had a fat little 7-month-old brother, Zackeriah(dunno how to spell).I asked her how old she was and she put up 4 fingers and said “two minutes!”
Hahaha, her mom laughed so hard.
After awhile I asked her again, “how old r u, Xenetia?”
And she held up her orange-juice stained hands with her thumb folded in and 4 fingers up: “too old!”
or maybe she meant “two [years]old” (silent ‘years’)
her mom couldn’t take it…
I took her to the hammock and we played there for awhile. She insisted that I call it a ‘swing’, and not a ‘hammock’.
Later I asked her “are the oranges sweet?”
Her reply was
“chwinkle, chwinkle lee-erl staah, hao-ah hao-ah hao-ah staah” (jz in case u don’t understand baby language… that was twinkle twinkle little star)
I like little kids… they’re so innocent! The other day my distant cousins, chris, josh and Jeremy came over to sleep. We played x-box and they bullied me like mad in Halo, and Halo2. It was about 1 in the morning, and little Jeremy wanted to sleep. He asked if he could be tucked into bed (which was a sleeping bag in the tent in our friggin cold backyard). And earlier that nite he knocked on the bathroom door to ask me shower quickly cuz they’re waiting for me to play x-box and he tot me how to drive the Ferrari car without driving on the grass parts. I found that so cute!!!
Today…
I’ll end here.
Cuz I had to pull a small fraction of my skin of my thumb and middle finger to bring them apart… n it kinda hurts as I type.
Darn super glue

Kairos
|
I’m a little slow in updating myself, hehe… that’s cuz I don’t hv a camera I can call my own, so I had to wait for pix to be sent to me b4 I do any updating, gomen…
Well, last week, I attended an annual OCF event: KAIROS.
Nope, it had nothing to do with yiros (aka ‘kebab’ in msia) and its not gross…
Kairos means ‘appointed time’ in Greek (I think), and it was hosted by Flinders Uni’s OCF this year, and we had it in Edwardstown Baptist church down south. It was jz a one and a half day session about LEADERSHIP. I didn’t know that it was a leadership thing until the 2nd day….=p and I did confess that to everyone present…. Heehee…
So anywayz, 1st day was cool, I learnt so much about “removing the mask”, “bible centred leadership”, “conflict resolution”, “the heart of a leader” (*cough…. I shud hv gotten the hint that this is a leadership ‘course’), and finally “spiritual gifts”. I liked the last session where all of us were split into 2 generations and had to build Noah’s ark. That was fun! It turned out looking like a coffin for Patrick (super tall dude), but yeah, we all got the message behind it all… u gotta have a vision for ur future generation…This was my ark building team with Arthur, carol and tina as the 1st generation, and the rest of us as the siu didis and siu mui muis.
This was all of us just before we called it an end to Kairos 2006. oh ya, and the ark came in the pic too…
That’s me during makan time with carol and jane on the baby playground.
And that’s me being the tallest girl!!!! Oh tingginya aku…(I was actually jz taking a pic with laza, then suddenly the *ahem* tall* guys starting running towards me and comparing their height… they were really amazed at how tall I was…. So we took this pic)

fartastic
Every year, my family and I would celebrate mooncake festival, aka the lantern festival, aka bring-candles-to-mama’s house-and-burn-anything-burnable festival. So this year, I’m no where near mama’s house, and also mama sold her house and moved in with my 4th uncle, so I’d have to make do with wat I hv here instead. So dai yee and uncle Jason invited uncle Michael and family over to celebrate this chinese event. Dai yee also made mooncakes!!! How cool is that!?! Though I don’t really fancy mooncakes, but since dai yee made them, and I saw how she made them, I’ve decided to like homemade mooncakes. So yesterday nite, we were all in the backyard, setting up lanterns to create the aura. I started singing the ‘yuit guong guong’ song and got stuck half way cuz I dunno the lyrics. Then uncle mike sang the whole thing!!! Till the very end! I never got to do that ever since I learnt it from my grandad when I was 5. As we were listening to uncle Michael sing out the whole song, Jeremy suddenly said ‘ngo da pei hou chao’ (it means ‘my fart stinks’ in Cantonese) in the cutest aussie accent! Hahah… and when I was playing with fire with the three boys (Christopher, Joshua and Jeremy) Jeremy really farted and we laughed so hard. Good thing it didn’t cause the whole bondfire to explode. After that fart, we had the weirdest fart conversation. Uncle mike said if u wanna kill urself with ur own fart, u’ll have to be in an enclosed room (I didn’t catch the measurement of the room) and fart for 23 years consecutively to actually kill urself. And did u know that NZ has problems with their sheep’s fart. Its polluting the air… And also, there’s a chemical in farts that can be used as ignition material. Hahaha… uncle Michael said he cud save a lot if he gets to kumpul farts and replace it for fuel. I also dunno if wat I said was true or not… but it was an interesting conversation with the adults and kids. U know how ppl can burp the ABCs…? [Arthur burped ‘BEYOND’ so loudly it actually echoed…] I wonder if anyone could fart the ABCs… that’ll b cool.

island muffin bird
I think Australia is the largest island on earth! …maybe it really is and I just wasn’t told that it IS the largest island. I went to 3 different beaches within the last 5 days! And the weird thing is… I didn’t swim…. The furthest was getting my ankles a little soaked up in the cold cold sea water. Heehee… can’t swim la… the south wind is too cold. I shall blog about my beach experiences once I get my hands on the pictures taken then ;) Well, mid-sem break is here and its going really fast. A few more days left and the hols are over. Didn’t feel like the hols also… its like… “hey, how’s ur holidays?” “holidays? We’re having holidays meh?” So yeah, holidays… rock!! Sorta… I was busy with my crappy assignment last week so my ‘break’ starts today =) I decided to bake some muffins jz for fun. It was mandy’s idea at first, and she got me really interested in it as I discovered that u can add a whole lot of things in ur baking thingy… We made the 1st batch with double choc chip. Which turned out fine. Then we became a little more ambitious and made another batch that contains apple, carrot, honey, walnut, and white choc! Didn’t turn out rite… but still edible. Then I got all hyped up with the flour, sugar, eggs and milk… so I made the last batch with MILO! Its turned out super duper bad…. When u eat it… it is literally tasteless… then the after effect!!! Ulk! It turns bitter when u chew on it for more than 5 seconds. I dunno y loh… So before baking the rest of the milo batch, I added more sugar, chocolate fudge and a lot of condensed milk. Nyahahah… and I saved it! It turned out nice~ oh yeah baby… baking is cool… I wonder if the birds will be ok eating the bitter milo muffins that I put outside the back yard… Speaking of birds and their health… I dunno y but I’ve seen a lot of dead birds since my stay here in Adelaide… its kinda scary cuz when I ask around, no one else seems to b seeing such things except for me. In total, I’ve seen 5 dead birds so far. It could be a sign… Reminds me of the poem by A Samad Said: ‘a dead crow’. The theme of it is to show how polluted the air is in Malaysia, rite? I think birds don’t die cuz of air pollutions loh… I think the main reasons why they die are either cuz of old age, cuz of reckless drivers, or eating failed bitter muffins left out in the backyard….

stunned
i was walking along hindley street (adelaide's 'red light' district) to church this morning, and i saw this mega huge, bald, white, businessman-like man in a suit and coat(with tie) outside this pub with bouncers, smoking and drinking.
no biggie right? ....thats wat i thought
then when i walked sumore, and i saw this skinny spanish-looking dude, afro with retro sunnies, in white t-shirt with sling bag.
still no biggie right?
after walking sumore, i looked back and saw the both of them holding hands!!!!
(i didnt see it earlier cuz ppl were blocking)
i'm not against homosexuality or watsoever. i'm jz very amazed that two people from such different worlds / styles be together....
still stunned...

hum 2 3 4
My best friend, hum jo-shua, turned 19 last week. And also with 3 of my other high skool buddies: teo chun leng, lee kim yang, & ooi khai shang. However, I’d like to dedicate this post to my dearest boobie, shua.
[my boos...aka, my boobies.] (i'm not that short ok... i was half kneeling)This feller waxed my right arm in form 3, copied my sejarah notes, let me copy his kimia graphs, and made me look horridly short whenever I stand next to him. Other than that, he’s the best buddy anyone can ever ask for!
I think this is my 7th year knowing this guy and its such a privilege to hv a smart ass in the team of more smart asses! Hahah …but he’s basically the smart one among the smart ppl. Though his smartness is not infectious but his lameness is. I do not hv to elaborate on that.
[movie marathon at my place]High skool years were such great times cuz shua was there to keep everything going. hehe… prefects, skool, kasturi, group study, basketball (only a few times =p), driving test, movie marathons, sleep overs (on benches), MV moments, concerts, mamaks….
Happy belated bday, shua! And thanks for being such a good friend all these years…

not a weak week
The past week was amazing. Well, not AMAZING amazing. Just plain old amazing. Monday: went to uni to do some work n met up with Vivian. Didn’t do much in the end =p and I had to watch X-files and Desperate Housewives for Media n screen cultures… now I know y I don’t like those shows… Tuesday: worked till 4 then went for east side cell. Heard about G’s romantic proposal. Ermm, I mean the proposal by Dell to her… wahhhh, soooooo romantic!!! *takes deep breath* Wednesday: uni Thursday: uni Friday: worked (I actually worked overtime n I didn’t realize it till my manager chased me out of the store) then went for OCF And then!!!! PUBCRAWL!!!!! (will blog about it another time) Saturday: did my magazine assignment… its kinda fun but dateline is coming soon, so I’m kinda under pressure now. Had a free 3course dinner at paradise church. Its something they hv it every now n then where new ppl who join paradise will be invited for this. I went with huey chi who joined paradise 4 years already (but still has not been to new friends dinner) and I joined paradise 4 months only, heehee. Was my 1st time around the huge church n its so cool. Sunday: went to church, came home n had roti canai with dai yee, uncle Jason and Mandy outside(backyard) under the beautiful spring sunshine. Went for dinner at cafĂ© primo in the parade with huey chi and ming. Then we went for Elaine’s 21st bday party, which was also to celebrate Jane’s bday too. It was a rather unique party. Was actually a nite service of a chun portable church. Hahah… and mostly old ppl attend it. Laughed so hard when danwin sucked in helium and sang ‘happy bday’. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELAINE AND JANE!!!!! (this reminds me… I’ve to post a happy belated to my best buddy shua…)

thick yellow curtain
Twas a cold, cold winter’s night,
I lay on my bed starring at the ceiling.
My room was cosy, warm and bright,
Cuddled under my quilt, such a comfortable feeling.
My head on the pillow
Thinking of all the uncertain.
I turned to look out the window
By pushing the heavy yellow curtain.
There on my belly I lie,
Gazing out on the eerie, damp and muted street.
Then came thoughts of little kids who cry,
‘cuz they’re cold, lonely and nothing to eat.
The reflection on the window of glass
Was a bright room filled with wonderful things.
But out there are lives of poor people in mass
Yet here I am worrying, doubting and sulking.
I have all I needed and wanted
Pillows, thick blanket, heater and stuffed toys.
All these things I often take for granted
Not forgetting my five senses, including my voice.
On this cold, cold winter’s night,
Where the dim street light gleamed on the world so messed
I lay in my room so warm and bright
Thanking God for all the little things I’m blessed.

traumatic day 2
I dropped a cookie right in front of the store manager. And my frantic mind told my hands to pick it up and put it in the bin.
The store manager (Sarah): “try not to drop stuff my dear, it costs money. And don’t touch the food until u change ur gloves…. And do it fast, love”
My brain: “ooooh….crap”
Day 2 at work was a shock. Bigger shock compared to day 1. Sarah wasn’t in on mon, so I was trained by another person on day one. I did a lot of ‘inside’ work. Not the serving part. And on day 2, Sarah was disappointed I wasn’t taught the up-front work so she said “today u’re gonna b out there, serving serving serving. Is that clear little chook?”
She’s friendly. Very nice person. Has a bf and is a workaholic. Yet she speaks with authoritative voice most of the time with little ‘names’ here and there, referring the chooks to me.
So day 2, I served served and served. I think I gave the wrong thing to this old lady and the wrong salad sauce for another young man. But I shall keep that to myself… no point getting “that’s not right, young lady”, or “watch wat u’re doing, pumpkin”
I had to tip toe while serving and I had a work-shock during lunch rush. I burnt my hands a bit when toasting the bread and I miss-pressed the money register at point of sale. Oh ya, and I’m proud I did a very very good veggie patty sub-wrap today. My 1st time and it was perfect. My ‘bin friend’ Katie complimented me and that felt great.
Anywayz, my friend becka said the 1st week will b as tuff as hell, but after that I’ll b fine. Becka is a girl I met in class, and she’s working in another subway outlet. She’s also my ex-groupmate’s (the group that I was the only girl) cousin. Small small Adelaide.
After work I went for east-side cell (prayer meeting for the ‘east-side’ OCFers) then we had a short practice for a skit that we’ll b putting up on OCF this fri. I’m gonna b Becky. The girl who went to heaven and regretted she was a fat Christian cuz she has to see her non-Christian friend go down to you-know-where. We have a cool ‘Jesus’ scene, heheh…
Well, gotta finish up my assignment. Hv a great day!!!

Jez at work
Seriously… I really am working. Like… serious work work. To start off with, I must praise God for giving me this chance to work. Mandy told me that its not easy getting a job here in Adelaide, especially if u’ve no work-experience. But believe it or not, I got thru in my 1st ever job interview to work at Subways® last Monday, and now I’m working (casual) at the subway in Adelaide City Plaza, below David Jones. Yes I was planning to work… but didn’t know it cud come to me so soon. Mandy saw this ad on the newspaper n asked me to try it out, so I gave it a shot and I got it. The interview was funny… ask me bout it if u wanna know more. I never worked b4. actually… I hv… I worked for 3 months in taman midah lutheran church after spm for 5 bux an hour(I think). But that was different. All I had to do was pick up calls, Xerox stuff, fax stuff, type out songs into power point... Plus, that time I had a chance to do those stuff with my best church buddy, Sandra, and ppl in church are generally very nice…. They cant get mad at u in the house of God =p But this time, it’s the real thing. This is where the word ‘tough’ get thrown at ur face. This is where the angelic music and the misty clouds of the world start fading… where cotton candy turns into mud and rose petals turn into thorns. Hahah, that’s abit too much… Today was my 1st day at work. I was late. And I blame my short legs. But anyways… there was this guy called Matt. He seems like the knows-all guy. Showed me around that little subway corner. Very interesting machines were invented i.e. tomato slicer, the dish washer, and coffee maker, onion and cheese slicer etc. that made life much easier. So basically I jz spent most of my time at the back… still a little ‘chicken-ed’ to step up front to roll up the subs. Its very complicated leh… no joke. There’s diff type of bread, cheese, meet, salad toppings, cookies, drinks… and the cash machine was so canggih also… I took so long to find the ‘meatball’ touch button. so today I jz washed all the bread trays, and the other food trays. Then I got to use those chun slicers and weighers to prep up the counter before the lunch rush. I met this girl called Katie who’s the vice supervisor (something like that) to this division and she introduced herself like this: “hi I’m Katie, (fills in title) of this sh*thole, nice to meet u and enjoy yourself =)” and I jz laughed… well, I’m not really interested in those work politics, but I think my colleagues are fun ppl. I met 4 girls and a guy in today’s shift. All of them are so different. I had an experience taking the rubbish to the basement with Katie. Was funny… its not easy trying to work out how the dump machine works. Can’t believe it when Katie said she’s been working here for almost a year n she has not done that b4. So we had a fun time figuring out the dump machine. Oh yeah, the nice part is that we get one free 6 inch sub if we’ve worked for 5 hours. So, when there weren’t any customers, I asked Miranda (ppl call her mimi) to teach me how to make a sub, and I’ll take that as my 1st free employer’s meal. I put in some extra beetroot =p mimi said I can put as much as I want in that sub. So yeah. My 1st day at work wasn’t as bad as I dreamt it wud b. the dumb part is… I didn’t ask them how much they’re paying me. As long as they don’t pay me any lesser than wat it shud b, I’m fine with it, cuz I get free subs! (start envying me, horny)

paging for the old blogger...
Sorry for not blogging properly lately. That’s because I’ve been bz blogging in another blog! *gasp!* Not that I’m being disloyal to my own freakinly boring blog, but cuz that other one gives me marks to pass for one of my subjects so that the money paid by my dad to get me this degree is being well spent =) To know more about my assignment for this chun course, u can click here. The most commonly asked question: What’s up? or Apa macam? Or (kim beng’s version) Apa atas lelaki? [wat’s up man?] Well, nothing much is really ‘up’ with me lately. Not that everything is ‘down’. Just watching heaps of movies for my other chun subject, and trying to get work done. The subjects I’m taking sounds chun, but there are some sad parts about them. There’s this Media Literacy lecturer who has the weirdest voice. Her voice is like those u get over the speakers in the supermarket. *bell sound* “paging for Mr X, Mr X, pls proceed to counter 5 immediately, thank you” *bell sound*. Or maybe those you hear from unsuccessful calls: “the number you have dialled, is currently unavailable. Please try again later” *tooot*. Those kind of voices where u won’t get really annoyed with, but will tend to ignore unconsciously. She’s a good lecturer. Gives us plenty of examples and all that. It’s just that when she speaks, I just can’t help but ignore her. I’m such a bad student…. Another thing I’m finding it hard to deal with, is when I go for tutorials. I like the size of my classes (more than 10, less than 20). However, the questions asked by tutors scare me sometimes. Those questions are so simple yet profound. Its like too easy till u mite think twice if it’s a trick question or not. The whole class will just stay silent till a sacrificial dude will come up with any random thing to break the absence of sound. Sometimes I am the sacrificed dude. But the good thing is… we can always talk our way out even when we dunno wat the real answer is, hehe… “communicators”. And no, those questions are not trick questions… they actually have answers to them!!! Its amazing… Anywayz, jz wanna say congrats to all A-levels students with their results!!!! Esp Yu Xian and Shua!!! U guys very the terror!

utilization of the technology
I was doing a research on Globalization for my presentation, and I came across this passage in one of the websites: “… despite the rhetoric, many Asian countries are embracing the Internet at full speed, believing that it would bring useful ideas and information in today's competitive world. Malaysia is well known for its anti-Western rhetoric, but it is one of the most advanced countries in the region in terms of diffusion and utilization of the technology.” Does this mean we’re good in making pirated copies of DVDs? If it is so… then I’d say: ‘nicely expressed…’

Haphazard
As a communications student, I think my mind works in a very bizarre way. My thoughts are very random and I guess that’s y I have such peculiar dreams. I feel like blogging right now but I just dunno wat to blog about so I’ll just randomly chuck thoughts in this post, separating each thought a space, savvy?
There’s music coming out from my neighbour’s shed in the backyard, seems like a band’s jam session is going on, playing ‘iris’ by googoodolls, not bad.
I had Japanese cheese cake, yum~~. And xiu bau! Yumm~. And Ricotta, and home-made cheese bread, and roti canai with kaya, and chivachichi (it’s the name of a sausage), and triple choc muffin! Yumm yumm yum~~~.
I’m such a sloppy person, ydy I woke up on my headphone’s wires. Why? Cuz I watched grey’s till late at nite n I had my headphones on when I fell asleep. I like being sloppy. But not TOO sloppy la… just a little.
I like my media and screen culture’s class. We talk about all sorts of movies in the lectures and all those shows that I’ve watched in the past really did come in handy. The lecturer talked about how they used those particular props in FRIENDS to depict certain stuff, how the camera movement was in LOTR, how the lightings were in Moulin Rouge… aw faw sum fum!
My table is a live monster that gobbles down certain items that are placed on it when unnoticed. Daunting but true. I bought this cute orange and white striped mitten for babies to put my hand phone in as a fancy casing on my way back from the victor habour trip. I placed it on my table and one fine day, I couldn’t find it. It vanished… And another case was Samuel’s SD card. I took it to copy pix to my com then I placed it on my table. Next day… it was no where to b seen. So now I’m obligated to buy one for him. Feel so disappointed bout my carelessness on other ppl’s stuff… but Samuel is super forgiving loh… he even entrusted me with his external hard drive the week after I lost his SD card to get music from my laptop. Amazing… maybe if I were to sit on my table and pretend I’m not noticing, it might consume me in and then I can find all the other stuff it took from me! Yay!
I have a new weekly routine now. Other than cleaning the toilet every fortnightly, I now have a tennis date with my aunt and mandy every Friday mornings! Its sounds really exciting. Given that I’ve not played tennis ever (except for once with Heidi in Fraser’s hill which was a pretty traumatic experience) I kinda dig this new sport. However… I still prefer badminton to tennis. I used my wrist strength in the tennis game and it was really bad… hopefully by the end of this year I can at least master the basic skills of tennis and have a good game with my delegated opponent who is patiently waiting for me to go challenge him in the courts by then =) be afraid, my contender! Be very afraid…
As I was saying… communications students have a funny way in taste. My one and only senior, Ming, showed me this clip during the trip and all the others said it was really weird. But I thought its nice. Random. Odd. But nice. Warning: It cud b quite offensive at parts and it is REALLY REALLY random. Enjoy http://littlejez.multiply.com/video/item/8

new semester report
New semester just started. Back to the routined lifestyle and living with the absence of being bored. What I did during my holidays are now blissful events, and what I’m gonna do this semester is what matters. 4 subjects: Media Literacy- study about the media and how communication is done thru the media. Mostly I’ll be studying about television and the essence of what the tv imparts and convey to the mass viewers. I got my previous PR and ICCS tutor last semester for this subject (sulay), the Jamaican dude from Sierra Leone. My friends said this subject is fairly easy, hehe, so its not too bad. Document Design and Publications- learn about theoretical issues on publishing either print or online documents. Like readers read from top left to bottom right… color, space, weight balance…. Kinda interesting. My 1st assignment is to make a weblog! Haha, I feel a little vulnerable cuz its like asking us to do a serious work in a non-serious way… dunno how to present this… but I’m having fun! Hehe Media and Screen Cultures- study those technical stuff that makes the film interesting by looking at how the plot is set up to make the viewers stay for the whole show, which angle signifies what, the color, anti-clichĂ©d schemes… I love this subject. Its like looking at movies and tv series from a director’s chair. We get to analyse different movies each week. Last week was on American Beauty and this week is North by Northwest.we even get to study tv series like Buffy and Veronica Mars. Its just that the assignments are a little freaky… but I’m ready to take up this challenge! State, Power and Society- the title says it all. Study about state, power and society. Sounds boring rite? Well, that’s because IT IS boring. It’s like we learn about the significants of borders, citizenship, human rite and more politics… and I got a boring tutor for this. Boring teacher + boring subject = boring teaject or boring subcher. The word boring still stays. Anyhoot, 3 good ones against one bad one… I’m being optimistic about this sem. I just want it to pass faster so I can go back to do all the things I got in the list!

dream catcher
Dreams… Can be good, can be bad at times… but overall, I think its really energy consuming…but fun in a way~ If u know me well, I can dream about things beyond my wildest imagination. Well, I’m not sure how high ur imagination level is, but for me… I think my dreams outwit my creativity. It can be the simplest things like walking along a boring lane, to fighting a 4 headed lama with a red leather jacket and skating shoes to cross the purple river cuz this side is filled with locusts and ants. Sometimes I remember my dreams, and sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I can control it and sometimes it’s too real that I don’t even realize I’m in a dream. But as for this morning, I dreamt that I was late and dai yee was rushing me. That moment I knew that I was dreaming, and I didn’t like being late so I woke myself up so that I wont be late (but in reality I really overslept for half an hour). Cool huh? Sometimes the dreams can be so real, I have a tendency to think I did that thing, but in reality I didn’t but I thought I did it. Its like… in my dreams I switched off my room light, but in reality I didn’t, and I thought I did so my room light will be left on. How dangerous is that?! Imagine if I forgot to tun of the gas from the stove, but in my dream I did… ho ho ho… And also, when I fall sick, I always have this same set of dreams that come to me. When I get the temperatures, I always dream of trees falling on me. One after another. Rows and rows of trees just keep coming down on me. If its not trees, then its mattresses. They roll me up till I cant breathe. They keep rolling till I wake up. These are the few set of dreams I get when I’m really sick. A few nights ago, I dreamt that I was back in Malaysia. I drove a manual car so smoothly and I had lunch in a Chinese coffee shop near my house and it was really hot. So hot that I was sweating. (But the food was great) then dunno how, I woke up, in Australia, on my bed, sweating… Other than dreaming them, sometimes I verbally express stuff when I’m physically asleep. That happens to me once in awhile. When I was very much younger, still sleeping with my parents in their room, I used to talk in my sleep, n my dad will tell me the next day. He usually can’t tell wat I said cuz I used to sleep talk in mandarin n he doesn’t really understand… once he told me I said “zou kai! Bu yau da wo!” [go away! Don’t hit me!] and no, I not a child abuse victim….dun ask me y I said that… Oh ya, the amazing thing is… I sleep walk too! But not anymore… just too bad… but I can remember when I was about 8 or 9 years old, I stay over at my cousin (Theresa)’s house quite often and she has a double decker bed. I’d sleep on the top deck with her stuffed toys. One nite, I sleep-walked down from the top bunk, walked out to the dining hall. Her mom / my aunt so coincidentally wanted to get a cup of water n she saw me there. She spoke to me but my answers were kinda out of track… so she led me back to the decker and I walked up n slept. The next day she asked me wat I was doing then n I had no idea wat she was talking about. Hahah, this is the best sleep walking experience I had…. Double decker bed man! Lately, mandy told me I talk in my sleep but most of the time I just mumble… however! She managed to catch wat I said on Tuesday nite. “Seth! Ready? One… two… ddssshhhh!” When she told me about that, my jaw dropped. Then my aunt said she also heard me say that…. N she was sleeping in the room next to mine! It can’t be rite? So loud meh???!? Y seth? I also dunno y… I blame pei yi. Hahah! Cuz we were chatting on msn about Seth Cohen from the OC. Hahha…. Oh man… can’t believe I can do that…. Even the person in the next room also can hear… that’s pretty creepy eh? Well, I’m not complaining that I have dreams… it’s better than not having dreams at all. Just like my friend, Teck chun. Its amazing how he does not have dreams… there’s no fun in sleeping if I can’t dream.

road trip
http://littlejez.multiply.com/photos/album/10
“what will we be doing in victor habour?” I asked everyone in the car (ming, tan, mandy, and myself)
“I dunno...” answered ming.
*awkward silence*
“woohooo!!! VH road trip! Here I come!!!” I thought to myself.
7 of us, 6 days before the new sem starts, 5 healthy ppl (ming and tan were alittle sick), 3 sleeping bags, took off in 2 cars, in less than 1 hundred AD as our budget (each), with 0 plans.
Ruby drove ming’s car with sam and huey chi in it, and ming drove duane’s car with tan, mandy and me in it. We left east side at about 11am, 18th July for about an hours drive to VH. The road to this place was really straight… straight and boring. We passed a lot of farms, saw cows and some mutated looking sheep… the Switchfoot cd was played all the way there and all the way back… took me awhile to get the songs off my head. There were red and black stick erected along the high way. Ming said it was to remember the places where there were accidents before. Red is for the places where ppl were injured, and black were to signify the places where death accidents occurred.
We reached our accommodation – Smugglers Inn, around noon time n we were all craving for something greasy. So KFC it is! It was like a few mins walk away from our room, so walked there after settling down in the cosy unit that’ll be trashed for the next 3 days. Mandy and I took the sofa bed, the 2 sick guys took one room, the 2 girls took the other and sam slept on the floor in the lounge which was also the dining room cum kitchen cum bedroom… there was only one toilet btw…
KFC was ok… my 1st time in KFC in Australia. It’s not as good as the ones in msia… but still, its Kentucky Fat Chicken…
Then we walked over to the info centre to find out about the stuff we can do here. Bought tix to watch penguins later in the evening. Then we walked to Granite Island using the long bridge. They had horses to pull carriages to get there but its 10bux per head and its super slow… so we walked against the strong wind on metal bars built for the carriages.
The island is actually very small…reminds me of the size of sipadan… actually I think sipadan is smaller… there are nice trails to walk on around the island, but ming and I picked the road less travelled. We climbed uphill and down hill to meet with the others at the other side of the island. Was really interesting… hahah, for awhile I tot there’s no end to that climb, yet the view was magnificent!… at the other end, all of us climbed huge boulders and took pix. Well, I’m a little acrophobic… [that’s y God made me so short] so the climb was pretty scary… but I managed to get to the highest point and stand tall!!! The view was breathtaking!!! Seriously! The clear blue sky with the calm turquoise ocean… it’s like I have everything I have in the world! Except for one thing… *fill in the blanks*
We climbed ON rocks, UNDER rocks, OVER rocks, IN BETWEEN rocks, even went INSIDE some rocks…and the smart KFC guy, Tan, wore slippers for this hike. I guess it makes the hike more thrilling for him…
After the super exciting ramble, we went for some donuts (wah, the cinnamon ones were fabbiiiuuuullloussss!) and pancakes. Then I went with Sam and mandy to Woolworths to get our meal supplies… Then went back to the unit where the rest of them were there to get Tan’s shoes and we went back into granite island to catch the penguin-seeing-tour. It was so cold… and it was dark already by 5 plus in the evening.
We went on the tour around the northern coastal areas of the island with the tour guide who had the red torch light. The light from the torch had to b red cuz the penguins have sensitive eyes. Their eyesight is 8 times more sensitive than human beings’. They are fairy penguins, the smallest species among the penguin kingdom. They hv sharp things in their throat cuz they swallow fish as a whole and hv no teeth. They live to about 10 years old but some found some penguins that r 20 years plus! They live in burrows, one family one burrow. They have their own distinctive voice and their partners can tell where their other half is, n where their kids are calling from.
Wow… looks like the 10bux is not wasted… I managed to learn so much… well, I paid for, y shouldn’t I? I even saw them mate! Hohoho, so interesting! They shat (passed tense for shit) b4 they did it. N it was a turbo fast one…. Maybe they were jz shy la, so many ppl looking…Other than penguins, we saw possums too! Apparently there’s this rodent creature with webbed feet around, but we didn’t catch that… forgot the name for it also...
After that knowledge-full tour, we went back and had pizza for dinner. And we brought heaps of DVDs. The unit has a DVD player, so we watched City Hunter (the super old show by jacky chan….super low-b man…)
Then we played a few rounds of poker, and I learnt how to play Bridge! Eh, its heaps fun! Very challenging and entertaining at the same time! Bridge is good… very good…
Soon, everyone was totally knocked out by the day’s activities so they all went to bed. Except for me… I was wide awake, so I watched an episode of Grey’s anatomy before collapsing on the sofa bed.
Next day, we had bacon, hash brown and eggs for breakfast! Yummm~ oh, we had nutella and bread too! Watched Serenity while gobbling down those babi slices…
As ming wasn’t quite well that day, we left him in the room n we all went to The Bluff. It’s just a tiny mountain and that’s it… but the hike up was fun. Hehe… oh ya, and we saw whales when we reached the peak! Was awesome! They shot water up and we saw their tails.. coolness…
Then we went down to the beach just for fun. Haha, tan and ruby took off their shoes and went to ‘play’ in the water. The rest of us were jz taking pix of the waves. I went to wash my hands at a small pool of water behind some rocks, and I didn’t see that wave coming n I was soaked knee high… the water was so cold it actually hurts! It was fun though…
We then got bored and decided to make a human pyramid on the sand. Wasn’t easy… I had to step on Tan rear to climb to the top! Hahaha, but we did it!!!
We went to woollies again after that to buy dinner. Tan went in barefooted and good thing I had slippers in the car, heehee…
Went back to the room after that and had seafood salad for dinner. Another huge Yummmmm~ later that night we played more poker, chor dai dee and Bridge, then we watched Superman! The old version. The one with Christopher Reeve. Wah liou, the ending was super! …super LAME!!! And the start was really corny also… haih… thank God for improvement in the entertainment world!
The last day came. We all lazed around and had coco-pops and sausages for breakfast. We were REALLY lazing around.. half way watching a show called Alfie…till about 10-ish, someone came knocking at our door n said we had to leave cuz check out time was 10! And we were like… ooooo crap. So we packed up at lightning speed, woke ming up, and tried to stuff the leftover food the best way we can in containers so it’ll still b edible… after about 20 mins… we all stood outside our unit… starring at each other…
“Where should we go now?”
“I dunno…”
“woohooo! We got kicked out!”
So we ended up in the park near that place, n continued our breakfast on those park tables and benches while feeding the birds with the leftover bread. Ming put up a pretty good circus show then, hehe…
We left victor habour around noon and stopped by at marion (the biggest shopping centre in south Australia konon…but no where close when compared to mid valley). Walked around and I bought a pair of shoes. (am not feeling guilty cuz that’ll be my only pair of girlie shoes, other than heels… my other shoes are sport shoes =p)
So last stop was samuel’s house… finished up our apple juices and distributed the left-overs.
That’s the end of my VH road trip with friends. If u hv read everything I wrote… *clap clap* …most prob u wouldn’t hv, but I jz wanted to write it down for my own remembrance and maybe 50 years down the road I can still read wat I did during my 1st year winter break in Australia.

pix update
I’m back! With more pix and more updates!
I recently got my hands on some old pix so I’ll jz post it up now.
I’ll be blogging bout my trip to victor harbour, but I’ll do this pic frenzy 1st. btw, I’ve posted some pix taken during the trip in my multiply so jz click on the link on the link -->

Here’s a pic of me and yuk pui. She came over to visit her bro a few weeks ago. Was so glad I got to meet up with someone from taman desa… made me feel home sick again.
And here are some pix taken during the East Side Cell dinner
at Sam’s house. We had Japanese food and a German apple pie. i allocated the sushis in place. cool huh? my work of art!!! (i accidentally dropped one sushi into the pot of miso soup and i didnt tell anyone.... till they saw a little piece of floating avocado.. and some rice at the bottom... they began to be a little suspicious)
Ming made green tea icecream… (he bought the packet one, and followed instructions : pour ¾ cups of milk. And he thought he had to pour 3 or 4 cups…. Good thing he was stopped in time)
Then we played an interesting story telling game while drinking up the miso soup.
When the others left… the 7 of us played with the cam and jz did lame stuff on the couch.

after awhile, we got bored...
so we did this
just because we had almost the same jackets (of course, ming's is polo, mine is my bday gift from aunty ivy)

i'm not drunk
How u doin’~? (with eye brow twitched to one side)
I’m doing ok. I woke up this morning, and decided not to be bored anymore. That’s cuz Jezamine Chan is not a boring person, hence she shall not be bored no matter what! So I wrote down things to do rite after I was all motivated and fired up when I saw the sun shine sneak in thru the thick curtains that drew a fine line on the plain white sliding wardrobe door in front of me. I quickly grabbed the notebook and pen that I put on my bedside (its more like, the side part of my bed), it’s for emergency uses…. Like… if I wake up after a super cool dream and I need to write it down… or like when I’m praying and God reminds me of something I need to do, then I can quickly jot it down before I ‘descend’ from my hide out =)
So… today, I was not bored. I had a fixed goal, I had THINGS TO DO!
I did all the usual…. refolded all my clothes again. Watched FRIENDS. Swept floor. Basically did all the boring stuff. BUT! I didn’t complain or even breathe the B word… (until now).
And I’m proud of it. (I can’t believe I’m saying this)
Anywayz, yesterday, I baked sponge cake. Yay! But no, that’s not wat u’re thinking bout….I didn’t bake a sponge cake. I baked the already baked sponge cake… jz to see wat happens to it. I cut the spongy thing into finger size, placed it on a piece of tracing paper on a baking tray, popped it in the heated oven and waited for the results.
It came out rather good. It was like… biscuits! Like… finger sized biscuits! Ahhaha… I shud do this more often. Pop things in the oven and see how it turns out. Wat shud I put in next? Hmmmm…. Maybe I shud dip the left over ‘yong tau foo’ in melted butter, then roll it over some flour then place it in the oven… cool… hey, cooking IS fun! no,this is not cooking. its baking... in that case, i prefer baking to cooking....Haha. speaking of which, lizzie, do not try this at home…u must invite me over if u wanna try such new things, got it? and good luck with cooking for urself!
Woah… ok, I jz starred at the cursor till it disappeared! Hahah… okok, I better type something…. Erm… oh! My aunt taught me how to make tiramisu. I wanted to learn how to make that cuz someone likes it, hehe… so I requested for that to b taught to me. Turns out that its really easy… itz jz that the ingredients r a little hard to get in msia. Anyhoot, the ones we made were not bad (I cant say anything cuz I’ve not tasted the best tiramisu…yet). And I think I jz ate too much at one go… I’m a little… whooozy~ must be too much coffee liquor…
I better hit [publish post] b4 I type anything dumb…
Have a great day people! Mwah!

Mwah!

Why the head butt?
I missed the match for WC’s finals… very disappointed bout that.
It got worse when I found that it was so gan jeong, and filled with juicy happenings and nice penalties.
Anyhow, for those who were unlucky like me and missed the match, here’s a little something u shud know: during the extra time of that tie game, France’s Midfielder, Zinadine Zidane head butted Italy’s defender, Marco Materazzi. Well, it wasn’t a head butt, more like a chest butt.

I was jz disappointed I missed that part, and this 2 guy friends of mine, gave me a whole new insight to that violent and foolish act of mr. Zee.
Joshua Hum revealed that it was cuz zidane wanted to do something really urgent… he needed to answer nature’s call, to sit on his (public) throne, aka to pang sai. So he was in a desperate situation. The closest player was Materazzi. He thinks. Can’t think. So … wham! And , yes!!!! Red card! And hello~ toilet….
Today, Cheese Cake told me a different story regarding the head butt issue. Apparently… Materazzi (uncertain if it was intentionally or unintentionally) pinched Zidane’s nipples when having contact with him on the field. So Zidane got angry, and *dish*! But y wud he pinch his nipples? Maybe it was cuz Zidane called him ‘mother razzi’ and that Italian player thought he was cursing his mom. So, *pinch* and thus began the chain reaction…..
Woah… u feel the heat? U feel the controversy going on in that jam packed stadium and on the live international telecast of this major major event, that happens only once in 4 years, which of all times I had to be sick and miss the final match?!!!!! Gik sei ngo ah…..

juxtapose the extremes
I’ma gonna staya ata homa todaya! Woohooo!!!
Blasting Jamie Cullum songs from my laptop, with my half eaten char xiu bau next to it, in my PJs with messy hair, and painting my nails (plus toe nails) aint something i’d dream of doing. (btw, if u were attentive enuf… u cant ‘blast’ Jamie Cullum songs… it just wont work)
I’m not enjoying my time now maybe cuz I’ve been up and about ydy and the day b4 ydy. Juxtapose two extreme experiences… I see a seriously visible difference. Its like u’re trying to explain how a crooked stick looks like. But find it hard to. So u go get a straight stick n place it beside the crooked one. No further explanations needed.
Lizzie arrived Adelaide and so I’ve been taking her parents and her to places of interest around Adelaide... even to places I’ve not been b4! Will blog about that when I’ve got the pix we took. For now I jz wanna post something up cuz I’ma terlalu bosan and I need to wait for my nail polish to dry b4 I start the cleaning house frenzy again.
Jane will b coming over tonite, she’ll be learning how to cook from my aunt, so yay! I get to learn too! My aunt said she has to pass down her cooking knowledge to us, cuz she said she dun hv to cook no more when in heaven. But the thing is… I dun like to cook. I jz like to eat!
Anyhoota, meesa thinks meesa shud start doing something b4 meesa starts complaining.
Adios~

J.chan's anatomy
Things I found out today:
I’m a right hander, and I tried brushing my teeth with my left hand, and its soooo hard. Go try it, seriously, I didn’t know how retarded my left hand can be… well, not fully, but mostly. Also try dialling the house phone with left hand.
Ok, make it simple. Try switching the channels with ur left thumb. Not as fast as ur right eh? (that is, if u’re right handed)
Or maybe its jz me…
I watched “I not stupid too(2)” today and I cried like a baby. Usually I jz tear a little if the show that I’m watching is sad and all that. But this time, it’s as if it opened the flood gates of my crying self, and I jz sat there crying in front of the TV as if no one was watching. Well, memang there wasn’t anyone watching, thank goodness. But I just didn’t know that I can cry that badly over a show.
Maybe it was cuz of the reality of it, and the closeness of home that I felt thru the show. The hardships of kids under parents’ pressures.
The language they used and the kiasu culture.
I was also emotional when I watched “I not stupid”, but dunno y this time I blubbered like a small kid. And I did laugh so hard at a few scenes also… heheh… was really funny… the dad ordered ‘lame’ chop for dinner, to impress his teenage kid that he’s into the new ‘cool’ language.
And also, I downloaded msn live today. pretty cool functions they have. And I also got a little addicted to the graffiti game in yahoo… all thanks to tim =p its like I found an online picto charade game which I played in kate’s place with the girls from church till 3am on a Monday morning.
I watched Grey’s Anatomy today. Then I had this weird yet truthful conversation with mandy. She said Grey’s Anatomy is not as realistic as House. It’s like talking about their lives as doctors and not about the sickness. I agreed. Well, maybe it was jz the theme of today’s episode, but it’s rather true. It’s more like comparing Alley McBeal with The Practice in the court settings. I think that’s a nice comparison mark. Other than that, I also watched OC for once. I never had a chance to fully finish just one whole episode… yeah… sad case. Oh ya, and I watched Lost. True enuf… I got lost with it too. Mandy is all hyped up to watch 24. and I really wanna watch Prison Break. Well, all these are way much better than Big Brother (a lousy show copied by aus from USA, and now there’s a sex scandal going on in the house). The show was that bad, till the Australian president, Mr. Johnny, said it was a stupid show and channel 10 shud really take it down. I think its all part of the media/entertainment world. Put some good looking ppl in a house, rock up some juicy tittle-tattle, and there u go, a daily show for commoners who can bear the lameness.
Anywayz, I’m starting to enjoy my holidays. Lizzie is finally here in Adelaide! I’ll be bringing her and her family around tmr. Horny is happy till he can explode any moment. Mandy is having photography lessons for her elective course (how cool is that?!). my uncle is studying. I think he’s doing his phd or something… my aunt promised to teach me how to make tiramisu one day. And as for me, I’m finishing the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, starting to attend paradise church (neh… the one with guy Sebastian) and sleeping with my darling lately. And I enjoy it =)
btw, my darling = my ftec laptop.
